Letos jsme chteli Asii. Proc? Protoze je in, jde nahoru a byl tu uz kazdy druhy nas znamy, takze uz nemuzeme byt tak out. To by nase imidz neustala. Sice budeme mit oproti hipsterum asi 5 ... read more

... read more

There is something really magical about hiking amongst the clouds in Sri Lanka. As we make our way up to a guesthouse in the tea hills, a stony path of granite crunches underfoot. We switchback through trails of purple and yellow wildflowers, trying to avoid the blades of lemongrass that lash at our legs. The mist is pea soup thick, and although it hasn't quite started to rain yet, I react to the dew as it smacks into my face like an unexpected cobweb. Most of our tour group have spread thinly along the trail. The absolute silence is deafening when you are up here in the clouds. Even my own frantic heartbeat can't drown out my hours of dreamy contemplation as I plod along. With all these temple visits, I start thinking about Buddhism and ... read more

Our hotel Cinnamon Red did not look great to be honest but we got a high level corner room with great views overy Colombo. Of course first thing we did was to head to the pool....rooftop infinity..! OMG.. the family will know that I am not great on heights but I did have a swim and lay on a lounger albeit not too close to the edge. Again the view was amazing across Colombo and out to sea. Colombo is about 2 million people biggest city in Sri Lanka (21 million total). We are only in Colombo for the night so dinner then bed and then breakfast. Our package in all Sri Lankan hotels includes breakfast and dinner buffets so it will be a battle of wills to try to keep the waist lines under control. ... read more

Sultry... Spiritual... Spicy... Is there any other way to describe Sri Lanka? Yes, yes there is... Shangri La! ....Perhaps James Hilton was just too drunk to properly pronounce Sri Lanka?? As usual, I startle awake in a strange bed. After being in transit for over 37 hours it takes me a minute or two to get my bearings. Right. I'm in Negombo. Yay! I've finally made it to Sri Lanka. This country has been on my radar for like, ever, and although I’ve landed in the wee hours of the morning during a torrential monsoon, I emerge midday, greeted by the intense glare of an equatorial sun. A nice stroll on the beach outside my budget hotel should shake off this jet lag, I deduct. But much to my dismay, the golden sand is a thick ... read more

ENGLISH Our favourite place: We loved going to the top of the rock next to Sigiriya. My favourite food: Rotti (sort of thick pancake, which can be eaten with savoury or sweet food) and Kottu. His favourite food: Rice and curry, which Shaun thought were very unique. We ate an awful lot of them and I mostly lived off vegetable noodles. Shaun hasn't had his daily intake of meat several days in a row. It turns out that, although he doubted that fact, he survived! The best experience: Taking the local buses and trains was a very good experience although a very sweaty and tiring one! When buses are full and everyone is cramped, people who are sitting down take the bags from the people standing on their laps. They don't ask each other (not thank ... read more

Today, we made our way to Bentota from Unawatuna. We took the bus to Galle and then took a train to Aluthgama, a place near Bentota beach, where we had booked a nice hotel. We had taken a hotel with river view, WiFi (every hotel has it), air conditioning and breakfast for £14 which is the most we've spent for one night (if we forget about the disappointing £17 hotel in Tangalle). After a ten minutes walk under the heat (once again, we've chosen our moment very well and it's midday), we're happy to find our hotel. The staff is not very polite but the room looks nice. I start unpacking while Shaun goes to ask for the WiFi code... And from there, it all goes wrong! There is no WiFi in the hotel - which ... read more

(Oct 11,2-17)I am in the final stages of packing for my 15th Habitat build which will be in Sri Lanka.(country number 101) The flight leaves tomorrow from good old YVR on Cathay Pacific and we will be switching planes in Hong Kong (four team members on the same flight. ) It is a long haul as we leave at 245 PM and are supposed to arrive in Colombo at 1110 PM.(just under 20 hours) The next wave of people from our team of 14 will start arriving early the next day. As usual, the trip starts with an early ferry ride (0620) and includes the bus and skytrain legs to the airport... I have new Bose noise cancelling earbuds and have booked an exit row seat ($150 USD) so am looking forward to a relaxing flight. ... read more

Tangalle: When looking for a hotel, Shaun spotted a nice family restaurant. It was a very small place in a family back-garden. It looked like a very nice, relaxed place so Shaun, Marcin, Kaine and I decided to eat there. This is how we ended up in this back-garden, with a kid in his PJs sleeping in a hammock in front of us, a customer smoking weed next to us being served by two men with bloodshot eyes and totally high! We ordered food. Shaun asked if they had curry and rice, the man (who struggled to register what was happening) said no. Shaun was a bit disappointed but then the man added: "but we do rice and curry"! Then, Shaun, Marcin and Kaine asked for beers and the guy went to the shop with his ... read more

Sorry, this time is French only :) Nous avons pris le train de Hatton à Ella duquel nous avons pu admirer de magnifiques paysages.
