*****If you want to see a VERY GREAT show while in Seoul go to see "NANTA"!! It was FANTASTIC!!****** Scott surprised us on Thursdau buy purchasing tickets for the NANTA show. I was skeptical as I originally wanted to see JUMP for months but I was happy to actually happy to have tickets to atleast one of the two best known shows in S.Korea. I also was not sure the kids would last through the performance or be intrested in it. I WAS WRONG!! The kids LOVED IT!! The show is not verbal and is equal to the American broadway show STOMP but the scene in this show is based on a kitchen of cooks. It has a taste of everything wrapped in comedy even a taste of martial arts. I laughed so hard! You might ... read more

So I know I am a little late in posting this, seeing as tho Pajama Party was last week and all but it was such a good time that it has taken me this long to recouperate. So here is the low down on what this Pajama party business is all about. Every year at Sullivan School there are two opportunities for the parents to come in and watch their children to see how they are doing. Basically, its where us teachers have to bust our butts and get something "rehearsed" for the kids to "perform" so that the parents are happy with what their children are learning in school. And when the parents see how wonderful their lovely children are doing this makes them very very happy ($$) which in turn makes my boss very ... read more

Tuesday we went on a tour of the city. First we went to Deok Su Gung Palace. WOW!! This was originally the home of King Seongjong's elder brother Prince Wolsan. However, after all palaces in Hanyang, now Seoul, had been burned down during the Japanese Invasion of 1592, Deoksugung was used as a temporary palace. The palace was used as a royal palace for 7 years until 1615. Then the royal palace was moved to Changdeokgung. When Emperor Gojong returned in 1897 he lived there even after he handed over the throne. From that time on this palace was known as Deoksugang, which means of the Palace of Virtue and Longevity in the spirit of praying for a long life for Emperor Gojong. Emperor Gojong passed away there in 1919. Next we drove past the BLUE ... read more

Well hello everyone, Sorry I haven't written in a few days, we've been super busy. Monday we visted two schools and were given excellent tours. It was amazing and I have a ton of pictures to show everyone. The first school was 1st grue tade through 6th grade and it was a public school. There were 840 students attending, however, everything was surprisingly organized. They have 36 students to a class and the classes are split into two... 18 students on one side being taught in English and then the other 18 were being taught in Korean. The length of time in class is 80 minutes at a time. Their school day starts at 8:00am and ends at 4:00pm. After that many of the children will catch a bus and go to another school which ends ... read more

Hello Everyone, Well yesterday we traveled to the Coex convention center to check out our booth. It is awesome!! I will take pictures of it today all decorated so that everyone can see! The colors on the buildings are amazing. Everything is so bright and vibrant... All of the bridges have color changing lights that illuminate the sky beautifully. All of the women were high heels with everything and all of the men wear business suits. We took the subway to the convention center which is attached to this GIANT mall... At the subway, during rush hours they have people they call pushers that will literally push all of the people into te subway so that the doors can close!! Clothes are very expensive here, and everything is a brand name with english writing if any. ... read more

Hello To all!!! Well that was probably the longest plane ride I have ever been on!! I think we arrived at about 1:40am our time and it was 4:40pm local time. It was another hour until we got to the hotel from the airport!!! LONG!! Traffic was horrible, but at last we made it. I think everyone had a hard time sleeping even though we were all so exhausted. We are staying in a beautiful hotel I will upload some pictures when I can. All of the ceilings are high and the wood whether it be on the walls, floor, or furniture is absolutely goregeous!! I miss you all terribly and as soon we figure out the international cell phone that we rented I will try to call. We are getting ready to head out into ... read more

I know, I know, its been like a billion years since I have wrote any sort of update or posted any pics. I do sincerely apologize and hope that this detailed update will please all of you who think I have fallen off the Earth. Actually the complete opposite has happened, life has been extrememely unreal the past month and I feel like I have been to all ends of the world and back. Summer was unreal here in so many ways, unreal hot, unreal busy and unreal short~! After the great Muuido expedition where I received the sunburn of a lifetime, there were a few more beach trips to be had. I went out to Daecheon beach with some friends that live in Gunsan. That was quite an adventure in itself. First off I dont recommend ... read more

Korea’s biggest holiday, Chusok, has just passed a few days ago. It’s like our American Thanksgiving in that it’s a harvest festival. Everyone takes three days and goes home to visit their family and remember the traditions of their culture. I think the similarity ends there. On Chusok, everyone goes to honor their ancestors, wears Hanbok (traditional clothes), eats traditional foods and plays traditional games. Employers give large gift sets of such things as bottles of liquor, packs of canned Spam (yes, Spam), or packs of seaweed for Sushi. My school gave gift packs that included shampoo, cream rinse, 6 bars of soap, and 10 tubes of tooth paste. In celebration of the holiday, my school had Hanbok Day where we got to do all the traditional stuff. It was a lot of fun! I thought ... read more

September 19th was my 27th western birthday but I'm currently 28yrs Korean age. I will also be a step closer to 30 on Jan. 1st 2008, when i turn 29 Korean age. On my birthday I headed down to my favorite bar Exit 4, with my best mates and had some cocktails. It was going to be a low key affair but Troy got me a cake and Josh got me a birthday gift, and the hilarity insued. We had copious amounts to drink at Exit 4 before heading to Harlem in Gangnam for dancing and mild debauchary. All in all it was a fantastic evening with some great mates, plenty of drinks, and good music. ... read more
