Singapore Surprise! Atlast it happened! Our first abroad visit together..Me & Sonu! Its been five trips for me & one for her so far, but on none of them we were together. Its been our wish ever since to travel together on a foreign location & finally it worked out in Oct 2007.I was required to visit SIngapore for official visit.I decided to seize this oppourtunity & take Sonu along. This is what is known to outside world as telling them the truth could have caused some unnessesary discussion in family circles for both of us.And the truth was it was our first personal visit to a global location. We both used to read the ads by travel agencies operating in the city for many days. One fine day a package by Kuoni Travels caught our attention. We went ... read more

Met up with the German girls from the tour for a day trip to Singapore’s Sentosa island, a reclaimed island built in the 60’s. I think its Singapore’s only decent beach as everyone advised us to visit it. We took the bottomless cable car across to the island. It was more expensive than the normal cable car by £1 and meant we didn’t have to queue. We sat on the man-made beach for a couple of hours in the sun. The water was so polluted I didn’t swim and the 19 oil tankers I counted in the close distance put me off a bit. The island was ok, don’t think I will pay it another visit though. That evening I met up with the other girls from the tour and the tour guide again (even though ... read more

Hi readers Well where were we? Oh yes on Koh Lipe and moving back to a superior bungalow - well, we were lucky they had one but we had to spend three nights in the standard - not so good. As we said cold shower but air con - unfortunately the bloody air con packed up so not a good night's sleep on the last night. So glad to be back to superior even though Bob thinks he has let down the backpacking fraternity by us being wimps. Spent most of the time on the beach during the day and during evening eating and drinking (can't wait to get home to lose weight!!) but we have had the most brilliant time. Booked our snorkelling trip but the day was a bit overcast and windy and not ... read more

Singapore was interesting - not someplace I chose to go necessarily as it was more of a requirement for the stopover to Oz, but glad I stopped for a few days as it's a different place - such a mixture of different cultures, religions and cultures to create somewhere really unique. I loved staying in little India as it was a cool part of the city. The food is amazing - sampled as much as I could of course, but my appetite is smaller than when at home due to the heat and humidity. Was very odd staying in a hostel for the first time - I'm sure I will get used to it over the coming months, but am loving the BA lounge at Singapore airport for my own personal shower and complimentary glass of ... read more

Once upon a time, when I had a lot of money and I was born to spend a lazy days lying on the Siloso Beach drinking mango juice. Oh, well, in my dreams it would be like that, but the reality is another story though. Actually we had a field trip to that luxurious resorts. Kind of a funny thing that this resort, targeted for honeymooners and lovers and "true romance seekers" is only 5 minutes way from our school. So near but still so far.. It's location is said to be excellent, just at the heart of Singapore's hippest beach - Siloso Beach. We had an conducted tour there from huge poolgarden and massive rooms ( where they had four to six double beds in every of them!) to private villas. Alright, this is not ... read more

Married 4 days and already deserted!!! I'm sitting in the hotel room on my own writing this....... but more of that later. Well we've made it safe and sound to Singapore this morning and have had a lovely lazy day unpacking and sitting at the pool. We went out of the hotel and walked down to the restaurants in Sentosa for dinner - to those of you that said the food was good here you were definitely right, it was fantastic, although I ordered “Tastes of Singapore”, got a variety of dishes and I couldn't tell you what meat they all were..... but not thinking about that. The point is it was delicious!! The bill called the dish “Taste of Spore” which again made me cringe....... again not thinking about that either. The fact I'm writing ... read more

Hi Everyone My time is Asia is now drawing to a close. I leave the hostel to fly to Melbourne in about 15mins. Have enjoyed the VERY hot weather. Am nervous about the Aussie winter, so visited Topshop to get a nice hoodie jumper :o) Went to Sentosa Island yesterday. Reminded me of Jurassic Park. All man made. Very commercial but good fun. Went with a Canadian friend I made and we went via cable car over the sea. Went on the luge (go-kart/taboggon) alot! Saw 'pink' dolphins and went to the filthy beach. Am very sad to leave Singapore, as I've really enjoyed it here. Although I won't miss the snoring man in my dorm! Will update the blog once I've lived some wonders in Oz. Tarrah Everyone Bex x ... read more
