Musze sie spieszyc, bowiem idac w tempie Lonely Planet w Delhi bede 22II, a przeciez 18II mam samolot! (ale tak naprawde to jest dosc prawdopodobna opcja oszczedzenia 7 ostatnich dni, samolotem z Lukla) Dla bardziej dociekliwych: Jiri - Everest Base Camp - polaczenie Jiri to Namche Bazaar Trek i Everest Base Camp Trek. ... read more

Namaste! Time for another update! The whole family left, and that also means we don’t have a lot of time anymore left in Nepal this year! It will be difficult to leave this country, to get used to Belgium again, to find our way there, and to prepare our wedding and trip to USA next summer! But the months in Nepal were great; we had a lot of visitors, and made lots of friends again! And the most special of course, was our wedding! The two families in Fishling (my parents, sister and brother in law and cousin) all in Fishling. A bit strange the first moment, the two cultures are very different, and it needs some time to get used to that! A lot of questions from both sides, but we made a lot of ... read more

Hey guys i cant beleive i havent written since christmas, im further behind than i thought. After chrissy i had another coulpe of days at the spinal cord clinic before we had 4 days off for new years. We decided to spend this time in Thamel, so we could have a big night with some other tourists. On my days off i just completed some last minute shopping, i have brought soo much its unbeleiveable, and then did some sight seeing. With a a few of the girls i visited patan, an old city filled with temples, before we compeled some serious shopping in the department stores around there. I had a pretty quite new years, i made it to midnight but not much further than that, i hadent been feeling well in the tummy again, ... read more

I arrived in Nepal on November 2nd 2006 and leave on January 6th 2007 two months and also nearly 3 weeks longer than I had originally planned to stay. I don't know what I expected to find when I arrived in Nepal nor did I have any preconceived expectations, I simply came here to see the Himalayas. There was a reason I started my journey here first, I knew I was being drawn here but by what force and for what purpose I had no idea. After 2 months and 3 treks I can say that I have touched the surface of this country and perhaps have even delved under that surface to an extent and gained an insight into this amazing country. This is largely thanks to both Subin my guide and Baikumtha who accompanied ... read more

We're in Nepal now since over 3 weeks now and should leave in the next 4 days or so, which will make it about 4 weeks. The way from Lhasa was an experience, to say the least. We couldn't find people to share the ride to Nepal, so we went looking for locals. We had someone written for us in Tibetean, our plan and then we went on the search. Quite funny. We found a monk, who was interested, so we went to a "translator" and made the arrangements. We were with 5 other people and seemed that we're the first foreigners they had ever communicated with- and it was not by speaking.......... The trip was an overnight ride, which took around 12 hours. A stop to eat and drink their butter tea. A few police ... read more

The Yeti is said to live amongst the Nepalese Himalayan mountains. The local villages that inhabit the northern regions believe he is a kind of shaman and his existence seems better substantiated than his American cousin, Bigfoot. Whether true or not, the myth adds yet more mystery to an already intriguing country. Far from the highest peaks in the world along the Tibetan border, the Buddha was born in the southern jungles as prince Siddhartha around 2500 years ago. During my time here I found these historic and geographic phenomenas somehow softened. Perhaps it is the people: gentle and charming. Or maybe it has simply been a matter of time. For whatever reason, monks in robes, stoned sadhus and the Himalayas have become comfortable. Like a co-worker or aunt. First, the mountains. There are several areas ... read more

Dear friends, firstly, a very Merry Christmas to you all and secondly, a happy and prosperous New Year and 2007 to you all. I hope you all ate, drank and were very merry for me and I hope Santa left some nice pressies under your trees and in your stockings. On December 29th I finished my third and final trek around the Himalaya and the Manaslu region, this region sits roughly in-between the Everest area and the Annapurna area. This journey, like the previous two, also had its share of joy, anxiety, companionship, spirituality, and a heart wrenching story of Tibetan refugees. However, I'll start at the beginning and by now you'll be aware that the trek always starts with a travel incident of some kind and this was also to be no exception. Two days ... read more
