Hi all, We are back after 11 days of long trekking (9 actuals). It's called the Annapurna Circuit - because it evolves around the Annapurna chain of mountains which comprises of few top 10 peaks in the world. In Nepalese standards anything below 6000m is a hill, anything above deserves the right to be described as a mountain. So ladies and gentlemen in Europe – we do not have any mountains, our little French Mont Blanc would not even get noticed in this region of the world… Down to business – It was by far the hardest challenge I have ever had to face. I will briefly mention the facts: 115Kms of hard walking mostly above 3000m, a pass at 5450m, possibility of altitude sickness - you are going to think that over 9 days this ... read more

Our arrival in Kathmandu was a shock to the senses! Swarms of people, cars blearing their horns with no regard to the road rules, minivan 'buses' with people squeezed in like sardines in a can and livestock wandering the busy streets. Luckily, our hostel for 2 nights was a lovely oasis from the hustle and bustle of the streets, which gave us a bit of time to acclimatise to all the noise and movement. There was a gorgeous garden and lots of balconies from which to view the craziness on the streets from a comfortable distance! After a night recovering from our sleepless flight from Europe, we braved the streets in search of some cheap trekking gear. Our 21-day Annapurna Circuit trek started in a few days and we would be climbing to an altitude of ... read more

Hello all! So we have just returned from our 12days in the mountains and quite frankly we're pooped! We are now back in Pokhara for a few days rest but it's already only a week before we leave for Australia! I'll summarise our trek as best as possible to save reading an extensive essay.... SO, we started on the wednesday 26th sept by getting a tourist bus to Besi Sahar which is the first stop on the Annapurna circut. The "express tourist bus" failed both to be express and tourist which Resulted in Dan and Paul giving up their seats on a crammed local bus to allow some old ladies who were easily over 100 to sit down! Even though this was a pain, it was also a godsend as we met a great Deutch couple ... read more

I completed most of the circuit in a 12-day, 200 KM trek counter-clockwise (the way most everyone goes, since the other direction would be much more difficult at the pass) trek from Besishahar (started walking in Bulbhele) to Beni. I moved at a fast pace because of limited time, and the only part of the circuit that I didn't complete is from Tatopani to Nayapul via Ghorepani / the Annapurna Sanctuary (see map). It would be better to plan for at least 14 days, especially if you go to Nayapul, but it's possible to go even faster if you are fit and have time constraints. Most recommend close to three weeks to do it properly and to see some sights off the main trail, including high-altitude lakes (like Tilicho) and religious sites. The amount of walking ... read more

On the trek of Annapurna, we enjoy the company of Ajay Dharal, the most wonderful and funny leader of a trek you could find, “possibly/somehow”, his favourite sayings, along with my brother porters: the warrior-like soldiers of the mountains, Prakesh (aka SnoopDawg), food provider Sushel, the famous dancing machine Buddhi and, finally, the funny and easy-going Ramesh Tamang, no relation to Buddhi. Watch for the soon-to-be-added video of Buddhi dancing Nepali style! The visit to Pokhara, which is the start of the trekking leg of the tour, was mostly uneventful in itself, but still there is so much more to enjoy. We dined at Once Upon a Time more than a handful of times; it was the anchor spot to spend our down time. As well, upon getting to Pokhara, we were strongly advised (by Ahjay) ... read more

For our final adventure at the end of our year long / 12 month ‘time out’ on the road before we headed back to Sydney, we completed 3 weeks trekking in beautiful Nepal. Words to describe our 2nd trip to Nepal · Breathtaking scenery! We were there in early spring so picture flowers blooming everywhere · Beautiful! – Both the spectacular nature beauty but mainly the Nepalese people who have a beautiful nature about them. · Highly recommend to anyone to visit here! We have been twice within 12 months and will definitely be going back. Our Itinerary this trip comprised of two separate treks:- 1st trek (14 days) was to the LangTang Valley, Gosainkunda and Helambu Valley. This region is probabl... read more
