The dream and planning to visit some interesting destination both locally and perhaps cross border have long been playing in my mind. To jump start on a rather challenging trip, I chose Krabi, Thailand. However, as a warm up, I made a day trip to Frasers Hill recently. Thus in January 2016 alone, I have covered two road trips. On 26 January 2016, @9.30am on a cloudy morning, the engine revved up to embark on a long road journey between Kuala Lumpur and Krabi. Considering there will be toll charges along the NS Highway, I have topped up my T&G card to RM200. With a full tank filled to RM60 in KL, I only topped up another full tank at Sg. Perak R&R for RM50 to reach Alor Setar at 3pm and stayed for a night. ... read more

Late start this morning, getting up and out of the hostel in time for lunch down one of the nearby streets. Had a lovely chicken curry noodle which cost about $3 and completely filled us up. Made our way to Central Station where we hopped a train out to Shah Alam, the home of the Masjid Sultan Salhuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, also called the Blue Mosque. The train was about a 30 or 40 minute trip and when we embarked was fairly packed, but had emptied out enough for a seat about half way there. A quick taxi ride took us to the Mosque, where we spent a good hour or two taking photos. We had a tour, which we could only do after donning a covering which covered most of our clothes and a head ... read more

I always seem to get some sort of illness when I come to this hot, humid and sticky environment. It can range from an upset tummy to heat bumps located in uncomfortable regions. This time it was a sweat rash, after spending a whole weekend in the Sun at the Grand Prix. My family seemed to be competing in a gurning contest, when they saw my arms. Awful night sleep, intense itching and constant showers was my routine for a few days. Thankfully, it soon cleared up and hopefully I will not get it again. The plan was to have no plan for the following couple of weeks. Every time I was asked where I wanted to go, I replied, "Wherever you take me, I'll be happy". This developed due to the fact that backpacking, by ... read more

With our Langkawi tour over, we headed back to Kish's uncle's house where we had stayed previously. We had an 8 hour coach journey from Kuala Perlis to Kuala Lumpur in one of the lushest coaches I have ever seen where each seat practically reclined into a bed, which was nice seeing as the journey went from 9pm to 5am! So we slept the whole way to KL and then slept some more back at the house we were staying at in Kota Kemuning. After some well deserved rest we headed out to check out a shopping centre called Sunway Pyramid which was a b s o l u t e l y huge! It had 5 floors full of shops, 10 cinema screens and an archery range, easy to get lost in but with enough ... read more

As day four into our Langkawi trip began I finally had a chance for a lie in before we began our journey to another waterfall on the far side of the main island. It was quite a slog in our little rented car due to the windy and hilly roads through the centre of the island but it was a great drive through tropical forest areas, passing numerous groups of monkeys and strange birds along the way. Upon reaching the waterfall we found the climb to be much less exhausting than the one up to the top of Seven Wells, since there were probably less than 100 steps as apposed to 400 odd! There was a pool at the bottom of the waterfall which served as a nice relief from the heat and humidity, although we ... read more
