Hey everyone, In Langkawi now, our last stop in Malaysia. We're in the cheaper part because some of the island is very expensive. It's nice here but very quiet at the moment as it's low season. We've spent two days lounging on the beach, doing pretty much nothing and loving every minute of it! Our first two days were spent relxing in the shade, reading books, thinking about how lucky we are that we're not at home in the Irish October weather! I've been sick for the past 3 days so haven't really done much. Liam's been playing Florence Nightingale! Had to stall our trip to Thailand for a few days so looking forward to going even more now! Don't panic folks... incase you thought that i'd fallen off the end of the earth (or found paradise and never coming home!),... i am still alive and kicking! Just finding it really difficult to get a computer with a decent connection that isn't going to cost me a whole day's food budget (and i'm sorry,... food comes first above anything else!) So, just a quick note to say that i've moved on to Malaysia today. Am going to be staying in Langkawi, an island just off the north west coast of malaysia. Will probably be here for about a week... lots to see and do. Hello! I've finally arrived at Langkawi! I can't believe my trip has begun. The flight was alright. I was so tired, but a had a restless sleep. After all, how well can you sleep in an economy class plane seat? There were some cool movies playing on our private tv screens, too, including Lords of Dogtown and Mr and Mrs Smith, but after I'd had my sleep and was into the Lords ... by about half an our, it was time to land. Damn. I arrived at KL airport at 4.30am and it was deserted. I had to wait there for four hours, which gave me plenty of time to get to know my ipod. What a rush!

I am not sure where, but I got some guts and went parasailing! I am not one for taking risks, but I thought it looked fun! I made sure they knew I was worried about the landing. Well, as I got closer to the shore, they yell "Pull!" and you are supposes to pull the parachute so that you descend! One minor problem, the engine of the boat failed and I came down pretty quick, with my butt hitting the water first! Anyway, I was O.K! We departed this morning, and reached a town called Trang without incident. We then learned we were the only 2 people who wanted to go to Langkawi so we would be getting a 'private car' rather than minibus....sounds glamourous? Picturing us in a nice air-con Mercedes? A 1960's Nissan *insert crap car name here* pulls up with the windows wound all the way down. Leather seats (HOT) no less.....but off we trot anyway. Made it in one piece and caught a ferry to our current location. Due to the Tsunami ruling out some islands and the West coast of Malaysia still in Monsoon season it looks like we will be hitting Brisbane about 10 days earlier than originally anticapted. Tickets and flights for the Grand Prix in Melbourne are now organised, so watch out for us ... read more
