Hello Friends and Family! After a LOOONNNNNNG flight, we arrived safe and sound in Bali on Sunday night. You've got to be committed to coming to put yourself through the 23 hours of transit time to get here. We didn't succeed in being upgraded to Business Class but managed ok with the upper deck seat in the exit row, which gave Darrell lots of leg room. Nothing helped me to squeeze my size 12 butt in the size 6 seats though! The first thing you notice is the heat, man is it hot here! It's even hot for the locals! We arrived in Bali after a wonderful flight on Singapore Airlines. Bali is truly a paradise..what is most remarkable is the friendly warm smile of the Balinese. We rested at the hotel and then went for dinner to Kuta. The town is busy with a lot of traffic. We had dinner at a small restaurant. The fare is mostly meat and fish based. We quickly realized that our staple is going to be Nuso Gorong-Indonesian vegetable fried rice. Mangoes and Papayas are plentiful. We plan on traveling to Ubud the cultural center of Bali where we will stay at the Nirvana Pension with a Balinese family.... read more
