Hello Friends and Family! After a LOOONNNNNNG flight, we arrived safe and sound in Bali on Sunday night. You've got to be committed to coming to put yourself through the 23 hours of transit time to get here. We didn't succeed in being upgraded to Business Class but managed ok with the upper deck seat in the exit row, which gave Darrell lots of leg room. Nothing helped me to squeeze my size 12 butt in the size 6 seats though! The first thing you notice is the heat, man is it hot here! It's even hot for the locals! The humidity is so high too that my hair is like one big frizz ball all the time! The hotel we're at is absolutely stunning, it's called Le Meridian. It's right on the ocean front but ... read more

Hey again, I'm in Sanur now, about to head to a beach called Dreamland for the last 3 days of the trip. Over the last week we rode a little Malibue Barbie looking baby blue moped up and down pretty much every road in Bali. Bali really is beautiful but somewhat more touristy than we were used to. I won't write much now,,,probably finish up the blog from home, but I did want to post some pictures from earlier in the trip. Of course, I'm a douche bag so I posted all the pictures to the last entry and not with the appropriate one, but I'm sure you can all figure it out. Anyway, we're safe, having a good time, did not get killed by the tsunamis (didn't even hear about it for several days after ... read more

We arrived in Bali after a wonderful flight on Singapore Airlines. Bali is truly a paradise..what is most remarkable is the friendly warm smile of the Balinese. We rested at the hotel and then went for dinner to Kuta. The town is busy with a lot of traffic. We had dinner at a small restaurant. The fare is mostly meat and fish based. We quickly realized that our staple is going to be Nuso Gorong-Indonesian vegetable fried rice. Mangoes and Papayas are plentiful. We plan on traveling to Ubud the cultural center of Bali where we will stay at the Nirvana Pension with a Balinese family.... read more

I am staying at the Conrad (Hilton Family) Resort in Bali and it is stunning .. truly amazing. When I arrived at the airport there was a BWM X5 waiting to take me to the resort. The drive there was, thankfully, uneventful. When we arrived at the hotel it was to a stunning scene -- a massive waterfall on a stone wall with two massive torches buring on either side -- so sorry I did not get a picture of that. (Will probably be back there in a few weeks, so will get one next time!) Anyway, the entrance may have set one up for disappointment as it set such a standard... but no, the rest of the resort was just as opulent and wonderful. And the staff was even better. If you have a chance, ... read more
