While Swamiji was briefly in Jadan we had fun with being adaptable. Enroute to Khatu we received some prickles from roadside toilet stops, wonderful Indian hospitality and an Indian wedding. We enjoyed a few days with Swamiji and the peacocks in Khatu. Now that is a big Ashram. Such beautiful energy there. Shankar Puri (Aiden) was sick with a fever, though he recovered after a couple of days. Shiv Prem (Callum) also had a fever but then his condition deteriorated rather than improved... so we went to the doctor and found he has a urinary infection. He is now on medication and improving slowly. The good news is that his snotty nose that has been running from the right side since the morning after we left Jadan in the middle of the year, has finally cleared ... read more

Here we are back in the blissful Oasis that is Jadan Ashram. It’s really like we never left, lots of familiar faces and similar things going on. A few people back from a recent couple of months in Europe sharing stories and their energies are a bit different. I guess it takes a bit to readjust to Ashram energy. There are of course new people and new things to do. Programs are a little earlier now since its winter and we have a little less sunlight. The hostel boys are active in the afternoons with their hockey sticks, cutting up the desert and having a break from their books. In the school our new project is to train up some of the college girls with our teaching methods. I also have a helper now, so I’m ... read more

Aiden has a couple of boils on his legs and is louder than a firetruck in excruciating pain with them. We now have the magic cream so are hoping they heal quickly! Cal has had a heat rash for a while now though it's becoming quite itchy and uncomfortable as the heat increases. The diagnosis is that we move up to the top floor of the accommodation building where there is air conditioning. My research tells me the sweat glands in children are not very developed which explains why he has trouble getting the heat out more than the rest of us.... well, that and the fact that he LOVES all the heating foods like Mangos and Lychees which are currently in season! I have no physical ailments to complain about. My knee is holding up ... read more

Now I am running the kitchen here at the Ashram. We have about 25 people though sometimes this fluctuates. I’m learning about some different vegetables, lots of new Hindi vocabulary and some Indian cooking. Also how to use an abundance of milk that we get from the Ashram cows. During the day we churn the yoghurt to make butter which is then heated to get the ghee. When the milk separates we keep the other part for drinking (charge). It is a refreshing drink on hot days. The Indians add some jeera to it. We also often make cheese, lassi and sometimes shrikhand. Some of the milk is bought to the kitchen in the morning and evening so we can boil it and later when it cools, make yoghurt. Lots of the milk is also sold ... read more

Have been enjoying some late night swims in Talab. Purnima (full moon) is soon so it's great light. Especially floating on your back, because it's so quiet and relaxing!! Last night we enjoyed a typical Indian feast. Lots of oily, spicy food and of course lots of overly sweet halva for dessert! It was great to have puri again. We do have delicious chipatis every day for lunch and dinner but there is something extra oily and scrumptious about the smaller puri bread! The dinner was put on by the nephew of one of Swamij's bhaktas who died one year ago. It was a lovely gesture though unfortunately we didn't get to meet the benefactor. Cal has been dressing up a lot in various costumes. The boys have some capes on order with the local tailor! ... read more

I am having fun here. I got a thumb drive and Avatar hid it but I found it again。Well, Gretchen our friend in China sent us Harry Potter number 5 (the movie) and two really cool Dr Seuss Books. At school it’s pretty easy now exams are finished. It’s hot so we start early and finish early. We start at 730 and finish at 1230. I’m doing some revision of the Hindi alphabet, learning some Sanskrit slokas and doing some drawing. In India, it’s a bit like China where they have lots of rules for how to draw things. The library is STILL closed. Luckily we have one downstairs from where we live. I finished the Harry Potter series of books (a couple of times). Most days we go swimming now. We sometimes go with the ... read more

I was going to ask Swamiji for a Spiritual name but Callum asked for Mantra so I asked for it too. Mum was really surprised! Swamiji doesn’t usually give Mantra to kids. The day I got my Mantra there was a lot of people in the Bhakti Sagar. We gave Swamiji a tray with some incense, a candle, a coconut, papaya and sweet melon, some flowers, and 108 rupees. Swamiji gave us the candle to keep and the papaya to eat. Now I have a Mala with 108 beads on it. It's like a necklace to wear and I can use it for my Mantra. When Swamiji touched my head I could feel the power and the energy. It was the last night Swamiji was here and then they went on the tour. Gyan is teaching ... read more

When Swamiji was here I went and listened to some of his lectures and when the Bhaktas came to sing songs. When I see Swamiji I go up to greet him. He asked me if I had any wish but I didn’t so I said no. Then I heard there was a tour. When Swamiji left here he was going to visit the other Ashrams in India and then go to Europe. I asked if I could go and Swamiji said yes if my Mum came with me. But then it was really hot so we couldn’t go. Swamiji said next time I can go on the tour. I saw a snake when I was coming back from prayer last night. I nearly ran over it on my scooter. It slid away into a hole on ... read more

Cal is helping raise money for the hospital in our Ashram grounds. He has been selling stickers! I happened to chance 5mins alone with Swamiji on the lawn. They'd set him up there on his special chair and gone off to prepare other things and for some reason no one was around. I took the opportunity and asked what to do about Aiden's nose which has been how it is since I left the boys in Sept to return to Australia last year for my knee op (he said put warm ghee up the nose three times a day). I asked about a kids yoga program for Yoga in Daily Life. Swamiji said the comprehensive book he wrote that's in German can be translated. I also asked and Swamiji agreed that I record some of the ... read more

The past week we have also had a few accidents. One 18-20yo Indian guy drowned in Talab (our dam) while doing some repairs. Santoshpuriji had sunstroke and was out of action for a couple of days. Chandrapuriji got stung by a bee up his nose and had bad swelling on more than half his face for a few days. One of the horses here sustained an injury though seems to be recovering. One of the bhaktas who was here in Jan/Feb who was going to drive his car back here and come back to do tiling at Om Ashram, died in a car accident yesterday at his home before actually getting back here. After a bit of a cleaning frenzy and anticipation of dust storms that didn't amount to much, we are very glad to have ... read more
