May 6, 2012 Namaste..well not quite yet! I am traveling to Delhi with seven other students from Ottawa University. Everyone gets a long really well so far; probably because we are all a little bit crazy to be going to live and work in India for three months. Traveling to Delhi has not been without its challenges. Most of us only slept a few hours before our flight to Toronto in anticipation of sleeping on our flight at 2:30 p.m from Toronto to Delhi (which would put us on Delhi time as our flight would have been during night time Delhi time…if that made sense). I was particularly hungover and, have yet to gain my appetite back but maybe I am just nervous. As the universe would have it, the flight was delayed not by two ... read more

New Dehli lied only a few miles below me as we made our final decent, and already my head was filled with images of this great capitol. Most of our time was spent in the southern states and this was our opportunity to experience a different side of India – still India but with influences from other northern countries and the political, religious and cultural impacts they offered. I won’t declare to be in anyway worldly savvy of how this region, never mind how this country its put together. However what I can describe are only my interactions, observations and influences by those around me (there is my disclaimer if needed). Some of my first thoughts of this region revolve around its proximity to troubled countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan. Countries that are often in the ... read more

When Sepp departed on Sa, 18.02. I was quite frustrated. At that moment I also would have preferred to come with him back to Germany and not staying in that chaotic and dirty country. It was really fun with Sepp but suddenly being alone I was not going for anymore. Especially Chennai, which is maybe the most chaotic and dirtiest and stinkiest town I have seen in India, didnt improve my mood. There were also many, many mosquitos the last days in Chennai. The last time when we were there, there were very few of them. Maybe the mosquito time starts now. So I had to get out of the town as fast as possible. However, that was not as easy as I would like it to be. I decided spontaneously to go to the west to ... read more

Hello everyone, I am in Delhi. It's a really funny story. My flight got cancelled today so I took an 8 hour taxi ride through the crazy streets of India with these 2 lovely American people. The ride nearly made me sick and my head was pounding from the beeping!!! I'm not sure if you are booking any flights but if you are don't book with Kingfisher because they are letting people pay for flights online and then and then they are cancelling 90% of all their flights at the last min without any refunds. I am having such a great time despite all of this and I am really practicing patience and the true "yoga" of life. Johnnie rang me yesterday and I was so excited to speak with him. I am heading to the ... read more

Well day 2 in Delhi started early after a good nights sleep well almost a good nights sleep, as the dogs in the street woke me as they were having a scrap on the way back from the club. I walked down the main bazaar the beat time early in the morn less hassle from ricky drivers and anyone else for that matter. Over the footbridge at NDLS Delhi main railway station and then pick up a rickshaw from there (the ones on the main bazaar like to stay that side sometimes) to the Red Fort. 20 Rupees for an Indian and 300 for me, they like to make money out of their historic sites. The Red Fort is a big site and as I found out later more impressive from the outside then in. The ... read more
