After Sarkundi Pass trek in the Himalayas, my husband and I were now kind of getting addicted to trekking. We next planned for 'YHAI Mizoram trekking and caving expedition' the same year we did Sarkundi pass.This time my brother, cousin and a friend were also interested in joining us on the trek.So, we booked the trek for 5 people . The day we were leaving for the trek, I developed flu symptoms :(. I thought it would subside and decided to carry on with the plan.The 5 of us flew to Guwahati and were waiting for our connecting flight to Aizawal(capital of Mizoram).I was feeling very uncomfortable given the fact that the flu symptoms had now turned to fever.I somehow hung on with the help of paracetamols. Il Mizoram si appresta a festeggiare il 25esimo anniversario della sua pacificazione, quale occasione migliore per farci un salto e dare un'occhiata. Ma il vero motivo di questa mia incursione in terre incognite e' un atro: girano voci che da queste parti si nascondano delle popolazioni dalle caratteristiche alquanto particolari, uniche oserei dire per quanto riguarda il subcontinente indiano. Qui, tra verdeggianti colline ricoperte da sterminate distese di bambu', si suona il buon vecchio Rock'n'Roll! Stanco di lunghe settimane passate a sorbirmi intere sessioni di musica "filmi" bollywoodiana sparata a massimo volume dalle autoradio degli autobus, canti devozionali amplificati dagli onnipresenti templi induisti, musica tradizionale, sutra buddisti e l'immancabile richiamo del muezzin urlato a squarciagola e senza pieta' alle prime luci dell'alba dalle... read more

Mizoram is Christian and proud of it! Everywhere you go they tell you that they are Christian, that they were converted by Welsh missionaries about a century ago and that seems to be for them the beginning of civilization... The first question asked is whether you are a Christian and if so from which church? This is important as there are many, many different churches in Mizoram... One of the Mizo tribes has even claimed they are one of the lost tribes of Israel... And quite a few have left for the holy land... Yes this is a very religious place...
