Mysore - 4th-5th January 2011 Day 11 - overnight train then Mysore Arrived at Bangalore to change trains around 10am - quick spot of breakfast (I succumbed and had some vegemite on bread - really felt like it!) before train 2 to Mysore. Everyone has their own thing on the travel times - some read, sleep, watch movies, write travel blogs..,, we all have our own entertainment. I think we are lucky how good our group is - we are all quite different (except for Holly and I who seem to have been separated at birth) but we all get along very well and have had no issues - very lucky!!!  Mysore - very pretty city with quite wide streets, less rubbish and pollution - quite lovely in fact. We have a short time to freshen ... read more

the nice road takes you to mysore from bangalore, it does have some nice stretches on it. the mandya crossing gets a bit crowded and one can see various roads that branch out for various sightseeing spots like srirangapatna, coorg etc. the mysore palace all lit up usually on weekends and dussehra is a sight to behold and one can visit the palace museum during the day. the coronation room is fabulous and its a huge palace. at one time kingdom of mysore was entitled to a sixteen gun salute. the royal family still lives in one part of the palace. the royal orchid metropole offers very comfortable rooms at what was then reasonable rates. the food is good and modest. the fresh south indian food for breakfast is a must have at all these locales ... read more

Zadnji dan v Mysoru sem izkoristila za hisna opravila, zacensi s pranjem perila. Oz. spiranjem perila.

Nato sem sedla na bus, ki me je zategnil do centralne bus postaje, tako da sem morala do ... read more

Zjutraj sem sedla ... read more

Despite thoroughly enjoying spending 5 hrs on a very small, unbalanced, vibrating moped with no suspension we decided that today would be the appropriate time to get a bus to our destination…..Bylakuppe. This was one of the first refugee camps set up in South India to house thousands of Tibetans fleeing from the 1959 Chinese invasion. It is home to the Namdroling monastery and the Golden temple. This place emanates peace. Everything feels as if it is working harmoniously together and the warmth of the local people is extraordinary. We all felt very emotional today, energies were rapidly being exchanged within our group, not always for the best. My personal journey this day was extremely powerful. Sitting in the golden temple, meditating when the monks sang their prayers and hit chimes and gongs, I could literally ... read more

Sometimes, you just wake up, shit happens and then you’re in bed. This is basically every day in India. Never in my life have I been to a country that could be more adeptly described as ‘totally mad’. Everything is brilliant. A few examples; Families of 4-5 on mopeds Families of 1500 in rickshaws No road rules whatsoever A slight tendency to peep a vehicle horn at everything, all the time, non stop. No litter collection whatsoever The cows eat plastic The farm yard animals seem to enjoy the same access rights as humans And so on……. And so our day trips begin, 5 of us on 2 mopeds, pretty much no idea where we are going, a compass? And luckily big enthusiasm. Driving through Karnataka on the bike was fantastic (if you exclude the life ... read more

Torej? Kaj in kam sedaj?

Its been a while since I wrote here, life happens and in Mysore and finding time to yourself is difficult! A good example of this would be the drama I caused by not attending classes today. As my ever so stressful time of the month is approaching I decided to take a personal day. Staying in bed is not an option here, firstly I get reported that everyone is worried. Then my landlady turns up with chai and food and tells me she will look after me, then my friends turn up with coconut milk and chocolate. I can see the good in humanity so much clearer here and hope that I can offer warmth like it return. My body is getting stronger, yoga is going well. I am doing the back bends in the series ... read more

Yoga has been going well, just had 2 days off, one as Chitenanda was at the temple and then Sunday. Didn’t really want two days off and unfortunately my mind is still to weak and lazy to do self practise. Learning the series slowly but surely, arms much stronger already and holding most of the vinyasas without sneaky floor rests. Breathing needs to improve. Flexibility is coming along nicely, due to the stretching and also the weather I imagine. My teacher gives me amazing adjustments, he stretches my back so my face is practically at my toes. I do think the stretching is making me lazier though as I just release my abs and relax and breath? We’ll see how it goes. Thinking I may need to up my practise daily as getting itchy legs again, ... read more
