We arrived at the Banyan Tree Resort Ringha, which is in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, early morning Saturday 16th Sept. It is reputed to be the valley of Shangri La referred to in Milton's Lost Paradise. We checked into our Tibetan Suite room, which is basically in one half of a Tibetan house that had been, with others, relocated to the resort, and refitted to capture the essence of Tibet. Georgous room, well appointed and plenty of space! So far so good.... but it's at an elevation of 3300m above sea level, and I had a real struggle that first day with shortness of breath, dizziness and headache.
