What a great couple of weeks we have had !! Last weekend, Marcus (best man) and Sharon came to stay for the weekend. Saturday, we went out around Hobart. We went to Salamanca Market and bought a sausage from one of the stalls. We walked around a bit, chatted lots in the glorious sunshine and then went to a friend’s house for a curry and some wine. Sunday, we went to help Jen with the house and children - as Andrew had a bit of an accident and was in hospital with a damaged leg. He is ok now but obviously it was difficult for Jen - and the children were sick. Whilst we were there, Ivor, Marcus and Sharon had great fun setting up a golf course on their land - Ivor has even become ... read more

Hi all, no we haven't moved, but we will tomorrow, to another site in the showgrounds. But just to let u know that we now have a post box, so our new address is POBox 1935, Emerald, Qld. 4720. It worked out easier to get a postbox, instead of waiting in line everyday for 1/2 hour to see if there is any mail. Emerald is getting to be a very busy town. The Showgrounds expecially, for overnighters, and because we are permanents for the time being, we will be on a better site with grass (or weed) doesn't matter, at least it's green, rather than dust, expecially the last few days being very windy. Once we have set up will take some pics of the camp site. Bye for now, and to all our friends in ... read more

Hey all. Well we left you in sunny Surfers Paradise. That didnt last too long, it started raining....hard!! So we left! Headed on down to Byron Bay for a few days which was amazing. Byron was quite small with a few local bars and eateries but the atmosphere and people were great. Managed to get there on a Friday and found out that all the locals come out of the woodwork at the weekend. Luckily the weather turned in our favour and was brilliant sunshine. Went for a long walk around the bay and up to the lighthouse and then out to Austrailias furthest mainland point on the east coast and wtached a pod of dolphins play in the surf - very cool. Spent the evening in the local wateringhole watching the Wallabies v All Blacks ... read more

From Cairns, I ventured into the Northern Territory of Australia, and flew into Alice Springs, determined to take a 3-day tour of the "Red Centre." When I first began planning my trip to Australia, I seriously contemplated not visiting Uluru, previously known as Ayer's Rock. But, Stacey, I thought to myself...going to Australia and not seeing Uluru would be like going to China, and not seeing the Great Wall...It was decided! To the Red Centre, and more specifically, to Uluru, I would venture! I decided to play it as economical as possible, and booked the lowest priced three day tour that visited all of the highlights of the Red Centre: The Olgas (Kata Tjuta), Uluru, and King's Canyon. Our tour departed at 6:00 a.m. and our first stop was The Olgas, about a 6-hour drive (!) ... read more

After a night in the resort, it was another early start to view the sunrise from the sunrise viewing area. The Yulara Resort has now all been bought up by a single company and is hence now a complete monopoly. As a result it is now very expensive. We were amazed that that was allowed to happen. It was then finally off to Uluru itself. At this point we had a number of options that we could do, including the guided rim tour, a walk along the trail around the rock, the Aboriginal Cultural Centre and the climb. We had already opted not to do the climb for three very good reasons: The message had been pushed very heavily that Uluru is sacred to the Aboriginal people, they own it and they do not want you ... read more

Update is that I left the humidity of Darwin and got on the famous 'Ghan' Train which let us have a few hours in Katherine, very hot place, spent 3 hours sheltering in a shopping centre. Cool sight was in the nighttime going through the remote bush with fires allround (controlled of course) surreal sight. Arrived in Alice Springs, have found one of those perfect hostels, 'Alice's Secret' no spoilt brat school leavers here! Just chilled friendly people. Spent 2 nights at Alice's attending to my affairs inc the heartbreaking 'chuck out' as my accumulation has exceeded what I can be bothered to carry. Then last Thursday set off through the McDonnel Ranges and out towards Uluru (Ayers Rock). Got a 'distant' sunset to start with, then camped out near the ultra commercial Ayers Rock Resort. ... read more

Well, it's been quite a while since I last updated my travel blog. Sorry for that. Everytime I've gone to the internet cafe, it's been right before work, and Im always late, so I've only had time to quickly check my emails and not enough time to reply. Life here has been a little bit hectic with balancing work and my social life (practically non existent). Ive been working about 50 hours a week at both the Pier Bar and Baskin Robbins. Both places are heaps of fun, solely because of the people I work with. At Baskin Robbins, I sample ice cream all day when the managers arent around, and at The Pier Bar, when it's not too busy, the managers make us interesting shots for us to try....like jam donuts (Chambord and Baileys), and ... read more

Sat Aug 5. 'Express' article appeared with front page header! One of the best ever reportages. My practice is producing results. This means 'Southern Cross and Boomerang' has appeared in the newspapers of Cairns, Port Douglass, Cooktown, Atherton, Innisfail, Tully, Ingham and probably Townsville. TV in Cairns. Far North Queensland coverage total. Noteworthy achievement. Response atop lookout today delightful. Breakwater Marina sailor got small flag. Sun 6 Aug. Townsville. Morning marathon. Free muffins, grapes, oranges and carrot cake. Tried to 'ambush advertise' by holding flag at finish line. Went to Palmer St. Southbank Hotel to sit poolside and stamp stickers. Giant butterfly, green and yellow wings with black edges, yellow body fluttered by then landed on stickers. Awesome. Spruiked The Strand. Gave away eight stickers on promise of 'stick on car'.... read more

G’day my loyal readers. I hope you are all going well. My apologies for lack of updates, I’m still adjusting to life here and attempting to get into some sort of routine. I promised a post about last Sunday, and since it’s now Sunday once again…I’ve decided to rival a certain Mr. Dickens and present you with “A Tale of Two Sundays” It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. The food was terrible, the public transit unreliable. The dorm was quite wild, the Uni still quiet. Despite all these cons, I awoke like a pro, ready to take on the day. Liam and Monica were coming once again to chauffer me around Sydney. This time we ventured onto the motorway into the Hills. Seven Hills to be exact. I have usually ... read more
