Days 104 & 105 Jumped aboard the Greyhounded and jumped off again at Surfers Paradise. After being dropped at the hostel we headed straight to the beach and chilled out. Went to an exclusive restaurant called McDonalds for tea then walked around town. It's a really weird place - so different from the rest of Oz as it has the longest beach ever with a backdrop of loads of sky scrapers. The town is so American - it's even more American than America, with bright, brash neon lights. It's weird because you have all the touristy shops and then Cartier, Prada, Tiffanys and Gucci! There was a really good street band playing so we stood and watched them for a while. Then a stag party came along - the stag was dressed as a kangaroo and ... read more

Faktis ... read more

Hello! After Byron Bay, we all headed up to surfers paradise but planned on only staying there for a few nights. There wasnt too much to do apart from the beach (gold coast) and the night life. It reminded us all of a european magaluf type resort as it was very built up with hotels, bars, resteraunts etc. The first night we were there we all went on a hostel bar crawl which was a good laugh. It was a great night and it even resulted in a bit of random karaoke with a busker!! The next day 4 of us decided we wanted to hire some mopeds so we could take a look at the city a little more. We ended up with a 2 litre turbo toyota celica convertible! It was alot of fun ... read more

So we'd arrived In Adelaide and had found Jill & Grahame in good spirits apart from the fact that Grahame, who is a very good runner, had an injury and was in the process of having tests to see if he needed an opeartion on it. (he did and would have it in a couple of weeks time). Anyway, we went out for a bite to eat in Brighton, about ten minutes away from their house by car. Brighton's a nice place with a great beach and was quite busy. We went to Seacliffe beach the next day, which is a continuation of Brighton beach and had a lazy day. Ate in that night & tried to kep cool. It was red hot more or less all the time we were in Adelaide, of the ten ... read more

Hey everyone, We stayed a week in our next stop travelling up the coast, Surfers Paradise. Really nice place, I suppose the name says it all! It's more like a city with a beach than a beachtown! We didn't have great weather while we were there so we did a few activities to keep ourselves occupied instead. We went to Ripley's believe it or not Museum, great fun, there were some really freaky stuff there! Another day we took a trip to a theme park called dreamworld. Myself and Liam went on everything, the scariest by far being this torture ride called the giant drop! You get dropped 36 stories, the highest freefall drop ride in the world! Liam is afraid of heights so I think it was extra scary for him!!! There were a few ... read more

Hi all. It's Tuesday the 14th today. I'll fill you in on what's happended since we got here. ON Sunday we found a hostel called "Backpackers Paradise"...hardly true. It was $29/night, apartment style which means that it includes a kitchen and bathroom in the apartment. thats pretty expensive considering you have to pay to use the appliances and cutlery, plates etc. but we booked it for 2 nights anyway so that we could have a place to sleep and give us a chance to find another place to stay. our room mates were a couple from switzerland, thomas and sibil, and dave from sydney which shared a bunk with hailey in our room. it's so weird always being around ppl you don't know, and really hard to leave your stuff in the room when we are ... read more
