Mein Ersteindruck von Australien ist eher negativ. Nachdem man auf drei rissen Flughafen (Frankfurt, Abu Dhabi, Singapur) gewessen ist landet man im Brisbane. Der Flughafen ist ca. so gross wie der Flughafen im Paderborn. Nach dem ich die Sicherheitskontrolle passiert hab, begann ich mit der Suche nach einer toilette. Mit dem 18 Kg schweren Rucksack und auf Kruecken fand ich endlich diese. Leider erwies sich das ganze schwieriger als ich dachte, da ich mit dem Rucksack nicht richtig durch die Tuer passte. So beschloss ich Kontakt mit den Einheimischen aufzunehmen. Ich pickte mir aus der Menge von Leuten eine vertrauenswuerdige Person (Flughafenmitarbeiter) aus und fragte ihn ob er auf meinen Rucksack aufpassen koennte. So the time came to pack up our rucksacks and hit the road again. We had our dinner on our last night in a lovely Irish bar, steak mash and gravy of course, and said a final farewell to Sydney. It was a strange feeling leaving ‘home’ again and we were a little sad, having made some great friends and really settled in, but we were really excited to start the next leg of the adventure. We decided that the best way to get to Cairns to catch our next flight would be an almighty road trip. einen schönen guten tag, also nun endlich waren wir in brisbane angekommen, australiens drittgroesster stadt und von den einheimischen auch "brissie" genannt. die sache fing schon ganz angenehm an, als wir keinen parkplatz suchen mussten, sondern einfach ins CBD (Central Business District) fuhren und in die tiefgarage von martin's wolkenkratzer fuhren. hah, jaja ihr habt schon richtig gehoert!! wir wohnten im 19.stock eines hochhauses mit blick ueber den fluss und den botanischen garten. nochmal kurz zur erklaerung: martin ist ein bekannter von tom's familie, 31 jahre alt und hat das glueck ein zusatzstudium fuer postgraduierte der bundeswehr finanziert zu bekommen. wir hatten einen eigenen schlafraum mit zwei betten, ein eigenes bad mit badewanne und nen schoenen balkon. also wie ihr euch vorstellen koennt, waren wir mit der gesamtsituation mehr als einverstanden!!lach..naja nach s... read more

Getting flu and a secondary infection of bronchitis was not the smartest thing to do - but I have done it. Stout hearted to the last I shall ignore the doctor's dire warnings of death by pneumonia and play the fair maiden relying on my partner to carry the bags and deal with all the aggravations caused by airline staff and the like. I have visions of reclining on the bed in the camper van whilst being chauffered around but probably not going to happen! Checking in online has proved a bonus and earned us another 30 minutes in bed in the morning. Now only arising at the reasonable unreasonable work alarm time. Day 6 We reluctantly have to check out of our hostel today and make our way over to Tamborine Mountain- about 25km (15 miles) west of Surfers Paradise. The plan is to do a ropes course at the Thunderbird Adventure Parc, as we never got a chance to do one at Tasmania. The roads are all uphill (not surprising when going up a mountain) and poor Trixie bell doesn’t like it much, especially as she is carrying a little bit of extra weight on her (including 2 large suitcase, 2 small suitcases, 2 crates of beer, a cool box, a bag of trainers and 2 adults).
