We didn't really want to leave Yamba all of us really enjoyed it and I dont think 2 nights was enough, but still, we were looking forward to the next few places. Our next stop was Broadbeach! We got to stop at Byron Bay along the way too somewhere we really wanted to see as so many people had told us about it. We didn't really stay long though Brad was suffering from a bit of sunburn and it was a really really hot day so I'd definitely like to go back one day for a visit. Ŵe headed on ahead of the others to Broadbeach and found the apartment. Another gorgeous one with a view to the sea, we have been so lucky staying in some lovely places. We weren't there long before the others ... read more

So after staying with Cindy and Aaron, Bronwyn picked me up and took me back to her place. Bronwyn is a friend I met in London when we both lived there, and she now lives in Brisbane with her husband Wayne. Bron took me into the city and we walked around for a couple of hours. We wandered along the river, and walked down Queen St mall which was great. Her and Wayne's house is lovely, and is about 25-30 mins out of the city centre. We did a bit of looking around their area, which is really lovely with lots of trees and parks everywhere. It really didn't seem like we were in the centre of Brisbane. On Saturday, we all drove down to Byron Bay and had a look around there. We were meant ... read more

Australia Zoo was really good; they have a really good crocodile and snake collection (obviously!) and elephants and tigers too. They also put on a show with birds and crocs and stuff - that was pretty cool. We also got to feed and pet some kangaroos and koala bears which were super soft! Andy had to go back to the car for the camera and on the way he saw Steve Irwin’s wife and daughter Terry and Bindi! It was quite sad walking around the park and seeing all the Steve Irwin stuff; as you walk in the door there is a massive bronze statue of him and all his family. There is a whole section of the zoo dedicated to him; it is full of messages from people all over the world, and paintings and ... read more

Day 64 - Melbourne to Brisbane (with Virgin Blue) Our flight is at noon from the Virgin Blue terminal in Melbourne. We’re up early and the final puppy watch went beautifully without so much as a whimper! We’re packed up with time to spend with the girls and Anna before we need to head off, Grants gone back to bed bless him! We fit the Beanie Kids back in the hand luggage so they can come with us during the remainder of our trip and promise to take some great snaps. We say a sad farewell to everyone, we’ve only been back a couple of days but we’re very fond of them all so it’s a big tug on the heart strings to be leaving again. The flight is slightly delayed but the arrival time at ... read more

I woke up to the sound of the Doctor Who theme playing on my mobile, thus realising sleepy time was once again over and I had an urgent 7 o'clock appointment on the golf course. After a pleasant couple of hours, we returned back to base where upon I readied myself to take the now familiar journey into the City. After admiring the criminal courts (not that I have any real desire to frequent them anytime soon), I ventured across to the Greyhound terminus to purchase my ticket to Ballina tomorrow. ... read more

I got up...yep, that says it all pretty much doesn't it!!! I spent the morning plotting the next few weeks of my Brisbane experience checking out coach fares and accommodation possibilities in Chinchilla and also places of interest on the Sunshine and Gold Coasts. After watching Macgyver once again save the world, I watched the Aussies win the cricket for the second game in succession...it's like the old adage, one doesn’t turn up for ages...then two turn up at once!! I have toothache again tonight, nowhere near as bad as the Malaysian agony but bad enough to warrant a couple of painkillers, oh please let me have a decent nights kip!!! Finally, for today's entry...I would like to congratulate the 'Costa Notley Quizzists' on their success last night achieved without the help of their vacationing friend ... read more

Having surfaced like a mole from a mole hill...yes, I know this is getting worse, the first thing I noticed was just how stupidly hot is was, clear blue sky and a sticky 94F. I hopped onto the bus and ventured into town and within an hour, I was tired hot and bothered...so I found the nearest bar, had a huge pub lunch and then chilled out with an ice cold 'Pure Blonde'. Feeling refreshed although still pretty sticky, I returned back to base briefly before Mike and I ventured firstly over to Erics with yet more boxes and then to Coles for the weekly grocery shop! Ella once again cooked dinner which was delish, before I ventured out into the kitchen to clear up...and was greeted by something reminiscent of a warzone meets master-chef. Having ... read more

I was rudely awakened at 6.10am by my mobile alarm ringing, indicating that it wanted me to get my arse out of bed...and ten minutes later, it rang again...telling me that it wasn’t joking!! Who invented the snooze button anyway!!! I then proceeded to make my sleepy way to the kitchen and fumbled about for the coffee jar...me without caffeine is like a penguin without a wrapper, so once I had my fix, I was now finally ready to go play golf. It was a lovely morning and ambling around the course without a care in the world was just bliss. I amazed both Mike and myself though on a par three hole, hit a nice three iron off the tee, spooned it onto the green with the same club within a couple of feet and ... read more
