Hello! from Sydney...
Published: May 23rd 2011Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » RandwickHello people! So I have decided to start a travel blog... I probably should have done this a long time ago but seeing as I have only traveled within North America (until now) I figured now that I'm off the continent it would be a good idea. Obviously my first trip was to the other side of the world... and quite possibly the least foreign place everrrr, but it is awesome none the less! (ps. everywhere everyone hates Americans... except in America (and Canada b/c we love everyone) just thought you should know). So even though Australia doesn't seem to be extremely foreign, there are two things that definitely are! Those being, 1) the food and 2) the people. I have not eaten Kangaroo yet but I have eaten way more Thai, Chinese and Japanese foods ... read more
The Final Instalment
Published: July 21st 2010Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » RandwickWednesday 21 July Our five nights at Club Med Phuket have passed in a blur. As we arrived late on Saturday evening, and left at 11.30 this morning (Thursday), we in fact only had four days to enjoy our first Club Med experience. It was indeed a great way to end off our holiday, with a little kid-free time. All three boys spent some of the time in their age-appropriate clubs, which gave Russel and I a chance to lie at the pool, have a swim or two at the beach across the road and take part in a couple of the organised activities. We also each had an hour-long beach massage. And we ate. After four weeks of planning our eating around the children’s wants and needs, and subsequently not over-eating ourselves, we now found ... read more
So after getting up at 3am NZ time to get to the airport by 4am to catch the plane - I made it! I couldn't convince mum and dad to just drop me off in the carpark and not come in, and now realise that's because they'd arranged for Steve and Bonnie to surprise me and turn up at the airport at 4am to say goodbye! Very nice surprise. I was doing really well with the not crying thing, until mum gives me a little present, which turned out to be a Pandora bracelet with R (for Ralph, dad), D (for Diane, mum) and S (for Steve, my brother). I just had a quick look and had to shut the box quick smart! So that was very nice and once I'd gone through customs I wnet ... read more

Mid-Semester Break
Published: August 31st 2009Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » RandwickHey Everyone! I apologise for being so neglectful of my blog in recent weeks, but I hope you'll forgive me with this short update. Last week I finished all of my Mid-Semester Exams with only a little bit of trouble. This week I had two papers to write, but one of them is already done and the other is due tomorrow (Tuesday). After that is handed in I'll be free until after mid-semester break. My friends and I decided earlier in the semester that we would travel to several islands in Fiji by boat. So on Saturday I fly out to the main island of Fiji and from there catch a boat to several of the other islands. I anticipate that it will be much warmer than it is here (about 56 Degrees F) because it ... read more
After an extremely long journey I am finally in Australia. Unfortunately, I have no place to stay yet and pretty much the entire University seems to be on Holiday, but at least I’m done travelling. The flights here were both very interesting: the first, because I sat next to a 22 year old girl from LA while we both took advantage of the free alcohol, and the second because of all the cool things I encountered in Business Class. (On demand movies/tv shows, reclining chairs, and seemingly endless food, to name a few). I was able to get a lot of sleep, despite a baby who liked to cry just as my sleep was getting most fulfilling. Once I got out of the plane, getting through customs and immigration was a breeze because we were one ... read more
Sydney - about to leave
Published: February 26th 2009Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » RandwickG'day Australia I'm leaving
Published: December 4th 2008Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » RandwickReady or not I am leaving Australia. As I’ve found with most places, there are things to love, things that are hard to adjust to, and things I don’t like. I have had great fun while I’ve been here as well as hard times. I am going to miss Drew a lot. He has made my trip to Australia a memorable and happy one. I hope he comes to visit soon. It is the first week of summer here and I ask myself now why I had to schedule to leave so early. I am satisfied with my travels around Australia given the time and money I had available. I have seen most of the eastern coast destination spots as well as Melbourne and Tasmania. I don’t know when I’ll be back in Australia but, next ... read more
Happy Easter! I hope everyone had a good holiday! Today I just got back from Sydney, which has been my best trip so far. It was a longer trip, so it was not as rushed and I got to see and do everything that I had planned on. Four of us left Thursday morning to fly to Sydney. Once we arrived we took a bus to the University of New South Wales. One of my friend’s friend has an off-campus house that she let us stay in. All of her house-mates were on Spring Break, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. After we got situated we took a bus to downtown Sydney. We went to Darling Harbour, which is absolutely gorgeous by the way, and went to the Australian Maritime Museum. One of ... read more
A day at the Races
Published: March 27th 2008Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » RandwickWe all got dressed up, hats included and did a trip to Royal Randwick Racecourse to place a few bets, see if our luck was in and spend a day in the sun. I loved getting dressed up, everyone there looked stunning. We placed bets on most races throughout the day, winning was such a great rush...loosing not so much! We carried on to have dinner at one of my favourite pubs in Como by the water with beautiful views of the boat harbour.... read more
