So the last week has seen a change of scenery for us as we've been residing in the bush! We stayed with our first Wwoof hosts, lived on their 400 acres of land and worked on thier projects with them. Our hosts have three mahussive plant nurseries and sell their plants at the Farmers Market in Newcastle; they are also herbalists who specialise in treating incurable diseases through herbal medicine and have created their own cosmetic range too. They are both very anti orthodox medicine and believe it is the drugs that pharmaceutical companies make that create illness and disease. To begin we found their views quite hard to digest and their way of talking about those who do take orthodox medicine a little condescending. We questioned the things they said that we couldn't quite comprehend ... read more

Currently sitting on the balcony of our exec suite at Sails Resort in Port Macquarie. I've been itching to get here and make the most of the sun and the beach before braving the colds of winter. Beach every day, swim in the pool at twilight, indie shops to browse in at will, koalas, picking own strawberries... I love this place! It's also nice to spend a week with the fam, we do this every year and have done since we were all little tackers. SO for the rest of the week leading up to Christmas this is where I shall be... beach, pool, beach, pool, fish and chips, beach and then pool. Keen!! Until liftoff on Boxing Day, take care xx Lexinamunamanamunamina... read more

HI everyone Sorry to hear lots of you are snowbound .... while I am in rather muggy ( rainy today) hot wearing my shorts weather - but mustn't grumble!!! Haha. Yes I am leaving Port as it is called- Port Macquarie- and yes I will be leaving a bottle of Port ( half drunk) behind too. So the last few days have been a hectic social whirl with Jenny, Michael's cousin styaing with me and also meeting up for an event almost every day with all my new friends here. Culminating in a curry night last night followed by a swim in Susan's HEATED pool around 11.30 pm...then of course we sat round chatting and drinking mugs of Milo - bliss. I didnt get to bed until 1.30 a. and had to trundle the bins out ... read more

Hello Have you missed me this last week I wonder? As you would guess from the title we have had a bit of rain!!!! Driving up to Brisbane on one of the tourist drives I did see flood signs at creeks and gullies for 4 m then 12 m and I did wonder a bit about the rainfall!!! So since I got back last Tuesday we have had quite a lot of rain. Anyway my last days in Brisbane were great and I enjoyed going here and there on the busses all round the city and surrounds - Lovely Botanic Gdns and Roma Park - South Bank again - pedestrian bridges over the river etc - so well done Brisbane and Queensland for providing all the green spaces in their city....and it looks like they are ... read more

well we arrived in Port Macquarie to broken sunshine and was intrigued seems this is meant to be one of the most popular tourist destinations on the NSW coast and evidence of the convict history........although the first night was dedicated to getting straight on the old faithful "goon" once again!! Since we thought we were been spoilt with this place having 9 or more beaches, our first day was spent site seeing them all and absorbing the fantastic coastal views, scenery, dolphin spotting opportunities (once again amazing to see them) white sands, crystal waters and the beautiful lake consisting of numerous elite boats. There appeared to be more to do here than Coffs Harbour and this place felt more alive although we need a torch at night as the street lighting doesn't quite seem to be ... read more

Hello all I wouldn't want anyone to start to get withdrawals symptons if you have to go without my blog for a few days - so I am now trying to catch up on several days without access or the internet or I was too busy living the Ausssie life!!! So you will probably get a few blogs all at once now!!! Having found my way round in Susan and Geoff's lovely modern townhouse in Port Macquarie, explored the town and neighbourhood on foot, and manoevred the car in and out of the garage I was ready for a bit more exploring along the coastal walk. So drove the car to a starting point and walked from one beach to another via several headlands until I got to a lighthouse and another beach stretching for miles ... read more

Gday to all of you. It is supposed to be hot and sunny for me - and it was but today down came the rain in torrents just after I had hung out the washing - had to put itback in the spinner. But enough of domestic chores... last time I blogged I was in Sydney and after a lovely Sunday ferry ride from Double Bay via Watsons Bay ( famous for Doyles fish n chips resto) Angela and I strolled along the Quay in the Harbour, past the Opera House and through the Botanic Gdns. As my Suzanne will remember there are lots of bats hanging in the trees by the coffee shop ( she hates bats!!) and there are also pesky white ibis pecking around everywhere like bloody seagulls at home trying to eat ... read more

After a nice breakfast we headed to the Billabong Wildlife Park. It was fantastic here; I was able to stroke a koala, (which was soft and frizzy) and a dingo. I also fed wallabys as well as seeing many different kinds of birds, snakes (including the worlds most deadly), crocodiles and other reptiles. After some wedges for lunch we made our way to the next destination. We next went to a beach (possibly rainbow beach) which in the lovely weather looked stunning. After this we drove up North Brother Mountain (490m) for some stunning views of the surrounding areas. We then went to another beautiful beach, this one had stone walls surrounding some of the water which made the waves much milder, as opposed to the other side of the wall where the waves were much ... read more

I spotted the giant “Big Prawn” as I left Ballina and 3 hours later the Greyhound bus skimmed past the “Big Banana” at the side of the Pacific Highway as we entered Coffs Harbour. There are dozens of these giant edifices all over Australia usually attached to cafes or pubs, which is about as exciting as they get unless you are strangely turned on by tons of gaudily painted fibreglass. Thankfully I had booked my first night at a hostel that picked us up from the bus interchange, as it was a good 12 kilometres to the Jetty area where I was staying. Its quite a way from the CBD but its right near the beaches, the harbour, a shopping centre and a whole street of great restaurants with every type of cuisine you could wish ... read more

We decide to take a look at Port Macquerie which is not far from Bonny Hills (about 20k) as we get there Shenton bumps into the same bloke he has been seeing each place we stop. He also has a landcruiser but he has a boat on top. Apperently he is also going to Cape York so I guess we will be seeing him along the way. Shenton is really happy about this as he wants to go fishing with him in his boat. I think he is a bit scarey as he has a massive hairy head and looks like Grisly Adams! Port Macquarie is another lovely little town where we take out a 2 man canoe. We have a relaxing trip arond one side of Pelican Island and pass the Oyster farm in the ... read more
