Sarah: After a day touring vineyards and a relatively late finish on the poker it was not a very 'get-up-and-go' start from the Adams's. However, some coffee, cereal and toast with lashings of butter soon put us on the right track and we were in the car with me taking my turn behind the wheel. The Pacific Highway and rubbish radio stations sent Nick straight to sleep while I concentrated on sticking to the (very low and strictly enforced) speed limit. We drove non-stop to Port Macquarie, arriving by around 12:30 in the afternoon. We checked in, answering questions that the receptionist put to us in synchrony which made her chuckle and made us realise that all this time spent together has turned us in to two of a kind! From Sydney we took the Greyhound to Port Macquarie where we spent 2 nights. On Monday we walked along the marina and the banks of the Hastings River. We booked a Chinese junk cruise for later that eve and continued to walk along the coast where we saw some of the 50 Hello Koalas!; these large scale fibreglass statues, individually designed, named and hand painted koalas, form a public sculpture trail in Port. As you walk on there are hundreds of rocks which form a sea wall which have been painted by visitors, to mark holidays or celebrations. We then spent the remainder of the morning sunbathing at Town Beach. Hello again. Glad to see so many of you reading our blog and commenting. Since we last left you we have continued our travels down the coast and visited another 4 seaside towns. Yamba, Coffs Harbour, Nambucca heads and Port Macquairie. Cant believe we have visited so many places in 12 days. After a shock look on a big scale map last night we realised we still have 2 thirds of the journey left! But we will be travelling greater distances down to Melbourne. Yamba was a quaint town with spectacular beaches, beautiful scenery and a small town. The beaches from the lighthouse looked superb but had to make a move to find a free rest stop towards Coff's Harbour. Hey Blog Friends, Yet another two days have passed since my last entry. It sure hasn't felt like that for me. Yesterday was action packed, I can't believe we smushed so much activity into one day! I don't think I was ready for the day, by the end I was extremely exhausted and border-line delirious; it sure was fun! In the morning we went to a waterslide just a short drive away. The waterslide was a massive blow-up structure wetted by hoses. After the waterslide, Tom's parents took us to Lighthouse Beach in Port Mac. The swell was huge but unorganized. Although it was cloudy the ocean was a great temperature for swimming. Just after swimming I was tired but before dinner we managed to play 9 holes of golf at Port Macquarie Golf Club. Hello All, Sorry for not posting anything yesterday or this morning, I did not have internet access. I have had a grand time these past two days and I'm sure it will only get better. Sydney had its hottest day ever yesterday at 46 degrees celsius. It was so hot but luckily we spent the hottest part of the day swimming at Bondi Beach. In the morning we explored the Rocks in Sydney (the oldest settlement in Australia). The architecture is very different. For lunch we ate at a little bistro overlooking the Sydney Opera House and Circular Key. The view is fantastic. After lunch my host family took me to Bondi Beach. The beach is amazing; the white sands and turquoise water are magnificent. There sure were a lot of people though. The ocean was ... read more
