Sarah: After a day touring vineyards and a relatively late finish on the poker it was not a very 'get-up-and-go' start from the Adams's. However, some coffee, cereal and toast with lashings of butter soon put us on the right track and we were in the car with me taking my turn behind the wheel. The Pacific Highway and rubbish radio stations sent Nick straight to sleep while I concentrated on sticking to the (very low and strictly enforced) speed limit. We drove non-stop to Port Macquarie, arriving by around 12:30 in the afternoon. We checked in, answering questions that the receptionist put to us in synchrony which made her chuckle and made us realise that all this time spent together has turned us in to two of a kind! Nick made friends with the resident ... read more

Wednesday 22nd April 2015 Blue skies greeted us this morning and just after 0830 we were on the road again. We headed for Coonabarabran where we emptied our loo and topped up our water tanks. Thankfully Rags didn’t mix up the two! Gunnedah was our next stop where we climbed Pensioner’s Hill, so named as pensioners lived there during the 1930's depression. This has now been made into a park and overlooks the township. A visit to the local Information Centre followed where we bought some more fig and peach jams as well as a couple of gifts for our mothers. Gunnedah is a typical country town, with the main street being the focus, Coles and Target being on a back street. Judy was feeling peckish so we had our ham, cheese and tomato toasties at ... read more

From Sydney we took the Greyhound to Port Macquarie where we spent 2 nights. On Monday we walked along the marina and the banks of the Hastings River. We booked a Chinese junk cruise for later that eve and continued to walk along the coast where we saw some of the 50 Hello Koalas!; these large scale fibreglass statues, individually designed, named and hand painted koalas, form a public sculpture trail in Port. As you walk on there are hundreds of rocks which form a sea wall which have been painted by visitors, to mark holidays or celebrations. We then spent the remainder of the morning sunbathing at Town Beach. In the afternoon we walked to the Koala Hospital where we were introduced to several koalas who were there because of injury, illness or simply to ... read more

Road trippin'. - Sydney to Port MacQuarie I feel as I have to start present and work back, which I rarely do, in order to properly capture the imagery of my present situation. I am currently on day 3 of my road trip with Erica. She and I met in the Sydney airport when we were both poorly navigating ourselves from the international to the domestic terminal. She is originally from Kansas and has been in Colorado for 5 years. We kept in touch and planned this road trip together while she was working on a dairy farm and I was in Adelaide. She's a great girl on her own journey. Half shaved head, blonde with pink streaks, self designed tattooes, and every piece of her wardrobe has a story. Very well educated with two degrees ... read more

Hello again. Glad to see so many of you reading our blog and commenting. Since we last left you we have continued our travels down the coast and visited another 4 seaside towns. Yamba, Coffs Harbour, Nambucca heads and Port Macquairie. Cant believe we have visited so many places in 12 days. After a shock look on a big scale map last night we realised we still have 2 thirds of the journey left! But we will be travelling greater distances down to Melbourne. Yamba was a quaint town with spectacular beaches, beautiful scenery and a small town. The beaches from the lighthouse looked superb but had to make a move to find a free rest stop towards Coff's Harbour. We did enjoy relaxing on the beach for a short while but still trying to work ... read more

Hey Blog Friends, Yet another two days have passed since my last entry. It sure hasn't felt like that for me. Yesterday was action packed, I can't believe we smushed so much activity into one day! I don't think I was ready for the day, by the end I was extremely exhausted and border-line delirious; it sure was fun! In the morning we went to a waterslide just a short drive away. The waterslide was a massive blow-up structure wetted by hoses. After the waterslide, Tom's parents took us to Lighthouse Beach in Port Mac. The swell was huge but unorganized. Although it was cloudy the ocean was a great temperature for swimming. Just after swimming I was tired but before dinner we managed to play 9 holes of golf at Port Macquarie Golf Club. The ... read more

Hello World, I can't believe it's been 2 days since I last posted. I've done so much in just 48 hours. I'll start with yesterday, I got to try an authentic Aussie pie! Tom's grandparents were nice enough to take us on a little tour of Port Macquarie showing us the beaches of the town before taking us to "The Addicting Pie." I had a steak pie, it was very delicious. The only way to describe it is great pastry filled with gravy and steak bits. The rest of the day was very relaxing although it was rainy. This morning I woke up early and Tom's parents took a few of us to see a local strawberry/ tomato farm where you can pick your own strawberries. Sadly, there were very few berries left but they had ... read more

Hello All, Sorry for not posting anything yesterday or this morning, I did not have internet access. I have had a grand time these past two days and I'm sure it will only get better. Sydney had its hottest day ever yesterday at 46 degrees celsius. It was so hot but luckily we spent the hottest part of the day swimming at Bondi Beach. In the morning we explored the Rocks in Sydney (the oldest settlement in Australia). The architecture is very different. For lunch we ate at a little bistro overlooking the Sydney Opera House and Circular Key. The view is fantastic. After lunch my host family took me to Bondi Beach. The beach is amazing; the white sands and turquoise water are magnificent. There sure were a lot of people though. The ocean was ... read more

Hello again everyone and Merry Christmas! I've just read back through this essay below and it's a wee bit long so feel free to read it in shifts! I originally thought I wouldn't have that much to say on this blog so doing it every few weeks would suffice, but the last couple of times I've written it I seem to have wittered on for a long time. Maybe in future I'll do it more often but it's tricky finding the time with so much going on. I'm in Port Macquarie on the northern New South Wales coast staying with friends for the Christmas season. A couple of nights ago we went to a carol concert and mini-fair organized by one of the local churches. It was fun and the kids loved it all, but I ... read more
