Wow, it has been way to long…and I apologize I promise to do better lol. I do want to open this with the mere fact that who ever said Study abroad was easy never studied abroad. Something about living life in a different country and doing all different things with new people, new classes, new FOOD, new places…etc, makes everyday a challenge. Life in Mexico is so busy I can’t hardly keep up. There is always something to do or watch or celebrate. Speaking of celebrate let me go all the way back to my birthday. My birthday was great. It even had it’s own theme. We all wore our sunglasses and my friends threw me a great party. Before the party we were able to attend the coronation of a friend who had just become ... read more

Today I went on a trip organised by my hostel to see some Cenotes (sen-oh-tays) which are sink holes that are found in loads of places on the Yucatan Peninsular. The guide only spoke in Spanish, but I think he said that they were created years ago (maybe 2000? maybe not!) when there was a meteor crash. However, this may be completely wrong! The cenotes were beautiful. They are kind of like underground caves with only light coming through in a few places. The water was clear and cool and there were lots of underwater stalagmites and stalactites. The first one we visited was 25m deep in places! There were tree roots which had broken through the cave roof and dangled down into the water. The snorkelling was wonderful, it was like being in another world. ... read more

Hey everyone, sorry we havent updated in a while. A bit slack, and we couldnt find the internet anywhere. Well, its everywhere, but its all WiFi. Well, we've finished with Chicago. Its an ok city, kinda boring and really not set up for tourists which was really noticable for us having been all over the place. Plus we took a tour when the Bears were playing on Sunday arvo. Which basically shuts down half the city. I cracked my head on a trolley bus and broke my glasses again, so I threw a shitty. Which was fun for all. Especially Abbey. Then we moved on to Niagara Falls. Now, we got a hotel that was in Niagara falls, but apparently that doesnt mean it has to be anywhere close to Niagara Falls. It felt like we ... read more

After hearing me talk about this trip for the last 6 months, I'm finally leaving today. The last few weeks have been both fun and hectic as I tried to spend time with friends and also reduce my life's belongings down to a single backpack. I spent Labor Day week up at Cape Cod with my friends Steven and Gina Gauthier from New Hampshire. We had an awesome time relaxing on the beach, looking for sea shells and biking around town and on some pretty bike paths. Gina got up early one morning and took this beautiful sunrise shot. She's an amazing photographer. I wish I could bring her along on my trip to document it for me. :) Unfortunately I wasn't organized enough to take pictures when I had all my "goodbye" dinners, but I ... read more

Late at night, the group I was with decided to go to a Fonda restaurant. It’s a place were they play music and you eat and drink. The restaurant looked very elegant and expensive, but it seemed like it would be nice cultural experience. We all sat down, and had a glass of wine. After, we had listen to the musicians play for a while I figured it was a good time to leave. When I was about to stand up and ask for the check, my group informed me that there was a 16 euro minimum for the restaurant. At that point during the trip I had already spent too much money, and since I wasn’t directly informed of the minimum I felt I had the right to express that to anyone, and surely they ... read more

This will be my first ever entry in the realm of TravelBlog.com, and I feel that its best to do a prelude to our upcoming adventure to test the site. I have grown comfortable and quite fond of my livejournal page, but alas, it can no longer offer me the latest and most convenient quirks of blogging-- and by that I specifically mean the map! I am quite fond of this as a tool for my friends and family to really track me as we move across South East Asia, and then maybe even as we dive into our Peace Corps service in Eastern Europe (come March 08)... As for now, Chris and I are anxiously counting down the days until our lives as we know them-- that is, here in the Maple house in Tempe, ... read more

I leave in two days and it still isn't really sinking in yet. Maybe because I've never been anywhere that far away? I don't know. My mom was very nice and got me a huge rolly suitcase, which will go nicely with my big backpack. I am leaving all of my books, CD's (I'll make due with my iPod), and general stuff. The house where I'll be living is a shared accommodation and has furniture in it. I'll have to buy bedding though. I've started a shopping list which is getting depressingly long. But better to get it there so I don't have to carry as much over. The oversized baggage fee is not one I want to have to pay. main reason for post would be my proper address. I had sent one out earlier ... read more

Dear All, We had a very beautiful drive from Hayden, ID via 95 then 2 (Emily will remember that one) into Kalispell, MT. The trees are beginning to turn here with yellow birch and tamarack. Thompsons informed us that tamaracks are the only pine that turns color and drops its needles. It makes for a brilliant spot of color in a evergreen forest as we came into West Glacier. Em & Bill had also recommended a lovely forested campground, just 1 mile outside the park. We had just finished our huckleberry ice cream cone when we pulled in. Everything is huckleberries! We did not care for huckleberry coffee..keep our Peets! Drove up to MacDonald Lake and walked while Timmy scared away 2 does. Back to our Glacier campground, but no connection. We played a great game ... read more

MC tu as manqué ta chance……. Mercredi le 19 septembre ... read more
