Well, I can say that i've traveled. Been to Europe, spent some time in Mexico, and now i'm getting ready for an "extended stay." I'll spend 4 months of my life living, eating, breathing mexican culture in Guanajuato, Mexico. This blog is a continuation of what I wrote during my stay in Cuernavaca, Mexico in Jan. of 2007. Just getting it fresh!

Until I leave for Guanajuato!!

Well this is obviously my new trend to be delayed on my blog. So let me see…. I’ve covered Mexico City. Well after Mexico City just another passing week accept for one big thing. We had a big 80s party. It was great tons of people came and everybody dressed up. As seen in the picture we did 80s with a nice twist!! School thus far has been going well, the work is picking up but the learning/teaching style here is very different then that at school. The change is nice. My Spanish is improving, but I still get nervous sometimes when I speak but once I get into the groove it flows a lot better. I have noticed that my comprehension level is near perfect now, YAY!!! I have been taking salsa lessons amongst ... read more

Mexico City Mexico City was an amazing trip. I know it has been about 2 weeks since I’ve gone but yes again I was very busy with Life. In Mexico City we got to see alot of history. Right back to the ruins of the Mesoamericans. They didn’t give us a break. From the time we arrived we began our tour of the City, starting with the Nacional Catedral. The Catedral was actually right in front of our hostal (Yes Mom I stayed in a hostal). It was one on of the biggest and prettiest Cathedrals I have seen. After seeing the Catedral we continued on our way to the main Zocolo, which is like the city square. There were “witch doctors” doing a cleansing. It was told me that many people come there for that ... read more

Well.... I want to give everybody a little bit more information on GTO and then I'll blog about my weekend in Mexico City. Guanajuato, GTO is a SMALL town. I would have to compare it to a Moonville or Tryon in size. There are no stoplights, and the town was built before there were cars so there are now these crazy tunnels where they use to mine that cars now travel though. It is the only place in Mexico with tunnels like that. We walk just about everywhere and if it is dark or we are lazy we will travel by bus or by taxi. To travel by bus it is about 4 pesos or 4cents and to travel by taxi it ranges from 25 pesos (2.50) to 35 pesos (3.50). It is cheap but trust ... read more

Wow, it has been way to long…and I apologize I promise to do better lol. I do want to open this with the mere fact that who ever said Study abroad was easy never studied abroad. Something about living life in a different country and doing all different things with new people, new classes, new FOOD, new places…etc, makes everyday a challenge. Life in Mexico is so busy I can’t hardly keep up. There is always something to do or watch or celebrate. Speaking of celebrate let me go all the way back to my birthday. My birthday was great. It even had it’s own theme. We all wore our sunglasses and my friends threw me a great party. Before the party we were able to attend the coronation of a friend who had just become ... read more

They all claim my spanish is good but i sure was fooled. Yes for those of you who are wondering i have gone out and it is very cool. Very different. We went to a salsa club last night (we being Diana, Gustavo, Me) and SO COOLLL. I have met a few people here and all seem to be nice and all go to the University. My family is great. Well i'm here and it's beautiful. The weather is nice..it's cool today thanks to Dean but I can't complain at all. I have met most of the group already and everybody is nice...very differnet and from very differnet places of the US but it should be cool. I don thave much to say YET but believe you me I will after this whole thing gets going. When I arrived it was only 20 min drive from the airport to the Town and then I hate to say it but they just kind of dump you off and tell you were to be the next morning. It was okay because it has given us a chance to talk and see the city just by walking around. I miss everyone but not enough to come home lol I ... read more

Well as the title says....it is getting to be about that time again for me to start my travels. This is a big one for me. On August 23rd ( 2 months from this past Saturday) I will be boarding a plane to head back to Mexico, Guanajuato to be exact. I was nervous about Cuernavaca, but I am 100 times more nervous about this trip. No travel partner, just me, leaving my family, friends, and well my life for 4 months to do something I've never done and no one in my family has ever done. I'll be staying with a family and attending classes daily and basically living life as a young 20 something Mexican student for a semester. I am very excited because I will be there for my 20th birthday, Dia ... read more

Salsa is coming along beautifully. I´m doing great and looking sooo good while doing it. We are going salsa dancing tomorrow (i think) and thursday. This weekend we did so much. ... read more

My time here is almost up and I can not eve believe it. I´ve done so much and well i have the receipts to prove that lol. This past weekend we ventured out of our comfort zone (or at least we thought until we arrived) and travelled to Acapulco. Once we arrived we realized it waslike being in America all over again. There was an Applébees, Walmart (of course), Hooters, Hard Rock Cafe and many other familar places. The weather was amazing the hotel was great, and I just can´t find anything to complain about. It was so nice, Nicky and I slept out on our balcony to enjoy the weather thorough the night. We stayed at a hotel called Twin Towers on the 29th floor. ALL THE WAY AT THE TOP. The elevator ride took ... read more
