Hello hello, back at home in Wisconsin! The weather here has been really...extreme. I got here and there was well over a foot of snow on the ground, and it was bitter cold and windy for a couple of days. Then there was a bunch of new snow and the roads were just awful. I had to dig the car out 3 different times in 2 days. Kind of my fault for driving into snowdrifts, huh? Oops. Now it's raining and super foggy. Yuck. Anyway, I got some nice things for Christmas that will help me in France. Yes, my mother really got me three cans of pepper spray. One for my purse, one for my pocket, and one on my keys! And in festive colors of course! haha I'm pretty sure I'll be safe. ... read more

Nov 16, 2008 So here we are, Sunday night. In 3 days I am going to boarding a plane heading to a destination I have always wanted to go: South America. I just sat down on my computer after rushing all week- working lots and sleeping little. Trying to get these book chapters done before we go to Brazil and finish up all the loose ends with clients and other work before we disappear for 2 weeks. Paul and I are co-authoring 3 chapters on reptile behavior- it has been a big project to fit it into our lives. Opportunities keep coming and it is sometime hard to be selective about what to say “No” to. But how could we say no to Brazil?? Paul was invited to lecture to a group of wildlife veterinarians in ... read more

So after a short stint in New York I made my way to meet up with my dad and my uncle at Newark airport. Getting a $90 cab ride as I had to drop off my big backpack at a hotel and live the next 2 weeks out of my small day bag.... Met up with the old guys kinda strange seeing my dad for 1st time in 8months! Made our way to Liberty Harley-Davidson to get the rental bikes. Big Ultra glide classics. Steve having red and dad of course having Chelsea blue! With all our gear strapped on we headed off to our 1st destination, about a 250mile ride to York, Pennsylvania. It appears that I have some kind of allergy to something floating about in the air as my eyes soon became red ... read more

This set of blogs is another Group Vacation. Our 2008 trip was from KC up and around Lake Superior into Canada and then a slight detour to Milwaukee for a few days for the 25th and 105th celebrations for HOG and Harley Davidson. The blogs are broken into sections, each being a day in the trip. The first blog of this trip is here DAY 9 Saturday The other head down to the crowds and mess. But I decided that I will use my time to run my city parks tour. So off I go for the 4 presidental parks. The very first one I can’t find a sign for. All the other I find signs identifying them, and at Washington Park there is an awesome statue of Washington. There is no good way to get ... read more

It was one continuous line. We started the line about 30 people outside the building. At the building they had staff there that handed you a bag had ... read more

The blogs are broken into sections, each being a day in the trip. The first blog of this trip is here THURSDAY - 28 AUG 08 Before I really get into the days adventure I have to say that Milwaukee is great. Everywhere there are welcome signs, cars are really being great with all the bikes around and everywhere there is free parking for motorcycles. Even no parking zones have special signs up for Motorcycle parking. Everyone is helpful and friendly. Milwaukee is the best yet for a location, it beats Chattanooga all ... read more

I have plotted several dealerships that are enroute, but we have a lot of miles to put on and everyone wants to be in early today. The first thing in the morning we ate at ... read more

Wow, what an original title. I'll admit, my titles will probably not be too exciting. I suppose I just don't have that gift of being dazzling and witty in a few words. Anyway, I guess my profile explains everything that can be included in a first entry. I'm leaving in 13 days and couldn't be more excited! I'm currently packing up all of my stuff to move out of Stevens Point and into my parents' basement in Milwaukee. Ohh yeah, classy! I'm just storing my stuff there until I come back from London. IF I come back.. mwuahahaha. It seems like I have a lot of stuff to do before I leave, but at the same time I feel right on track. It's a great advantage to have gone through all of this already. Let me ... read more

OK so i've been slacking a bit with the blogging... Although i've been rather busy the past couple of weeks! I found some free time now though so here it is! So after nearly 4 weeks of braving the wide open world solo, it felt like i needed some familiar faces and more importantly: less responsibility! :D The family i stayed with near milwaukie, wisconsin were just the thing. Long before actually starting my trip, i spoke to April Hunter, one of the youth leaders at our church (who originally lived in the states) about whether she knew of anyone in the states that i would be able to visit and stay with. One of the ones that stood out was her sister and family in wisconsin so we arranged for me to spend a couple ... read more

Written on May 30: Had one of those days yesterday. Was: running late, getting soaked in the rain, oversleeping, needing a jump for my car, not able to find anything, needing to take apart my mothers car to get at her battery, still getting soaked in the rain..... but finally made it Milwaukee okay. Saw Erin, Jenny, and Jake last night for drinks on Water Street (which I almost found all by myself). SOOO HAPPY to see Erin, and am sad I won't be around this summer for birthday camping, lake trips and so on. I always like being in Milwaukee because its an in between city: not vacation but it's not home. I know my way around, but couldn't give directions. I have some really great friends who live here, but I can walk down ... read more
