Well, we ended up liking Roman Nose State Park so well, we decided to stay another night. We started the day on Tuesday with yummy omelettes at the Lodge restuarant, then on to Watonga to see what we could find. Visited a wonderful antique store downtown Watonga called Country Home Antiques and had a great visit with the proprietor, Rhonda, and her kitty cat. Lots of unusual antiques and gift items. Make sure you go by if you are an antique buff and in the area. After hitting a couple of other stores and, ofcourse, stocking up on Watonga cheese ( including our favorite cheese curds- Kenny calls them cheese turds), we decided to check out the town of Canton. As we entered the first store, Kenny reminded me about OKC taking the water recently from ... read more

Here we are on the road again. This trip is somewhat of a "forced journey" The reason - Storm's all inclusive warranty (think of it as health insurance for a motor home) will expire on March 15th. This is cricital why???? With all the different systems on a coach, there is always something to act a little goofy, or just outright break-down! Thus our current trip! We left OKC yesterday afternoon and headed west. Our first stop, as on all western trips, was the Cherokee Trading Post just west of El Reno on I-40. Most of us Oklahomans typically pass on by these "touristy" stops, but this one is really fun to walk around. They have some very impressive Native American works, as well as some really lame wares that were made somewhere overseas. Our overnight ... read more

We left Orlando early on Thursday headed back to OKC. Had a great afternoon and evening at Camp Gulf spending time on the white sand beach in Destin and enjoying the heated indoor pool and hot tub. Dinner was outside at the Whale's Tail, not known for it's seafood, but for the best view of the sunset around. Absolutely beautiful. We visited a Bonsai tree farm on the way to Destin, amazing! The oldest tiny tree was 103 years old. I had to buy a small one to try my luck. Friday on to Shreveport, LA to spend the night. We visited a National Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi ( spelled it out just to show you I could-ha), one of the largest battlegrounds of the Civil War. We arrived home late Saturday. Our neice, Kenda, and ... read more

During fall break 2012, I went on a media tour to NYC with the University of Central Oklahoma mass communications department. While orignally I was drafted by two fellow students that would later drop out of the trip , I am glad I decided to take the trip. Experiencing New York for the first time was an incredible experience and I cannot wait to return. I usually judge a trip by how many pictures I forget to take because I am having a good time and how many souvenirs forget to buy. On this trip I returned with just a t-shirt for my daughter and a coffee cup. I also wish I would have taken more pictures. Our journey to the big city started at Will Rogers airport around 10:30 , many of us had met ... read more

So good morning! It's Cadillac Ranch time! We're ready to leave the Ambassador - good for sleeping, no need to linger! We jump in the car and head down I-40 to somewhere between exits 60 and 62. We get off at 62 and are totally confused - we pulled into the RV Park and Asshole ran in to get directions - yes, to get directions! And it's a good thing - Sweetie would have taken us back onto I-40 into oncoming traffic. Take your time here - it is confusing and goes from two (2) way to one (1) way and is just weird! Cadillac Ranch... what can we say - look at the pics and make your decision. We got a good laugh but honestly, there is a commitment to art there. The installation we ... read more

Not all of our travels are the glamorous types. We are also living out here. I mention this because we bought new tank monitors at the FMCA rally and planned on having them installed there. However, bad weather was headed that way and the installer had more business than time so we arranged to meet him in Sadalia, Missouri where an Escapee Rally was scheduled. (Escapees is a full-timer RV club. We belong to them but did not go to their rally.) As many of you have heard me say, this motorcoach is like a trophy wife. She did not disappoint me. The installation took 4-1/2 hours because our floor plan is not typical.$$…ching ching. We scheduled an appointment at Camping Word near Springfield, MO. The appointment was to troubleshoot the new Roadmaster auxilary brake we ... read more

Can you believe we made it all the way to Miami !!! Yep, here we are in the Miami RV Park in Miami ....... Oklahoma. Got Ya !! We left Weatherford, Texas this morning and have made it this far (16 miles to the Missouri border). We shall arrive in Branson, Missouri tomorrow morning sometime. There, we shall meet up and see our good friends, Sam & Sandy. They arrived at the ABC RV Park today. We shall have a site fairly close to them. Not sure how long we will stay...made reservations for 2 nights and then we will decide from there. We are eager to see them.....a good time looms on the horizon as we always share a lot of laughs. We selected this Miami campground because it said it was near a casino. ... read more

We were on the road by 8:30 am...we thought...then realized we are in a different time zone and it was 9:30 am. By the time we got to the campground last night, it was dark and no one was at the office. Ken picked up an envelope with instructions for after hours registration. As we drove past the swimming pool, we saw a man and a women in it. There were no lights around the pool. We found a spot and as we pulled in a man on a golf cart was right there, making sure we were completing the envelope with payment. We didn't disconnect the RV from the truck; we aren't going anywhere. *When we passed the swimming pool this morning, there was no water in it. Makes me wonder what was going on ... read more

One of these days--this Friday, in fact--I will land in a faraway city that sounds like a place hobbits live and that some doubt even exists. Before then, however, many many things have happened. I sold my car (miraculous! hail damage!). I packed my stuff (equally miraculous! I hate packing! could not have been accomplished without sister!). I said good-bye to many people I love (did not melt into a tear puddle!). And, most stunning of all, I obtained my visa. The process of acquiring a Tajikistan visa has been the most eye-opening of my heretofore quite limited Tajikistan experiences. Many phone calls to the embassy in Washington, D.C., which seems to consist of one overworked man in a tiny row house off of K Street. Many of those phone calls ignored. One ended abruptly when ... read more

After a grand 3 hours of sleep, Skelly and I rushed to pick up our rental car this morning in Madison, TN. Then the most important moment of our entire trip occurred. What was it, you ask? Naming our rental car, of course! We picked up the beautiful Rosita Maria Honez-Skellerita!! After quickly cramming all of our belongings into Rosita, Skelly and I hit the road, heading towards Memphis. What was playing on our iPod while cruising through Memphis? I'm glad you asked. Elvis Presley, duh! We were so excited to enter Arkansas but were quickly disappointed. Arkansas is the "Natural State" but unfortunately for itself --and us-- it is naturally boring. There's hardly anything in Arkansas --and when I say "hardly anything" I mean "absolutely nothing." It is hot, humid, sticky, icky, boring, and overall ... read more
