Last night we made it to Rose State College, east of Okalahoma City. I met Brian at the Professional Training Center at 6:00 PM. Thankfully he was working late that night. We discussed Boston Reed programs for an hour while Terry and Graycee relaxed in some more shade - 103 degrees. Rose State is VERY interested in several courses and we will have our first partner in Oklahoma!! This year I also brought New Hampshire on board. I love it when we get new states! Our challenge is trying to eat healthy. With a dog in the car - everything is drive up fast food. We stop at grocery stores for deli meats and fruit and try to avoid french fries. Think I'll try a salad at McDonalds. I discovered that I left my makeup at ... read more

We woke up later than we expected this morning -- about 7:30. We didn't want to set the alarm because we were so tired last night. We got up and hit the road right away. A couple of hours into the trip we went through Joplin, Missouri, where the F5 tornado hit 3 days earlier. We stopped in the town to fuel up. The hotel parking lots were full of displaced residents, and people in the mini-mart were talking about what they were doing to try to salvage some belongings. The streets were busy with utility company trucks and clean-up crews working to get the city put back together. The skies were overcast and we hit occasional light rain on the way home, but nothing bad. Kevin likes driving when it's cloudy because it's cooler and ... read more

Geo: 36.1498, -95.9933Back on the road we were traveling through Oklahoma. Eastern Oklahoma was beautiful. I am not sure what I thought Oklahoma was going to look like but I did not expect it to be green hilly and lush. I was also surprised to see armadillos here. The dirt here was a bright orange red colour. I know it does not show up very well in the photos but even the water in the rivers was this amazing colour. We stopped at the Arcadia round barn for a look around then down the road at a gas station called Pops. They had over 100 different soda pops. I got a bottle of Moxie and Kim got a Dublin Dr. Pepper (imported from Dublin and made with 100% cane sugar). As we continued west the landscape ... read more

After months of business planning, countless international phone calls, a business plan competition, and an unhealthy amount of caffeinated beverages, the EYEChina team will depart from Norman, OK en route to Hong Kong at 0600 hrs from Will Rogers International Airport. Trip Distance: 8562 miles ETA: 6:55pm Friday May 20th GMAT Questions Hoped To Be Completed: 100 Probable GMAT Questions Completed: Less than 10 This trip is the culmination of a project that was presented to the group in August 2010. The group can count the number of hours that we have worked preparing for our time in China, however we can't begin to measure the impact this project can have. I'll speak for the group when I say that we're incredibly excited about the possibilities that await us in Sichuan and we hope to be ... read more

When I first arrive I walked into a store to buy a coffee (not a real coffee. They don't have such a thing!) and looked behind the counter where the cigarettes were diplayed. Next to the cigarettes are all these tins about the size of shoe polish. I thought to myself, "That's a funny place to display nugget". They must be very keen on clean polished shoes. Well not so. But everyones shoes are really dirty. A few days later after the blur of flying for 28 hours had worn off and everything wasn't so fuzzy I noticed these locals with tins in their back pocket of their jeans. But for some reason they kept turning away and spitting on the ground. Their lower lip seems to bulge out like the shrimp fisherman on "Forrest Gump" ... read more

Living in United States, we rarely think about other countries and cultures. I attend the University of Central Oklahoma where we have a heavy international student body. So many international students have visited the U.S. and have experienced our culture but it wasn't until I took a trip to the beautiful city of Swansea that I developed an apprecitation for other cultures. I visited Swansea over spring break with some classmates from the Mass Communication Department at UCO to make videos and brochures for a couple of non profit organizations through Swansea University. I recently went to New York City with UCO several months before going to Swansea. I didn't plan on going to Swansea for the simple fact that I went to NYC the semester before but I want to deeply thank my classmates ... read more

I'm back!!! Woke this morning at 5:30am to the sound of a thunder. Compared to last week the lightening was unimpressive. Now it is pouring down so no work today. Over the last 3 days I have done about 43 hours. When the trucks start rolling you stay in it until the end of the day or whenever we get called in. So I take food and water to last the day. There are about 20 other kiwis here with me. We range in age from 23 to 71. Mollie is a part of the team She is here with her husband, Roger. They are in their late 60's and she is a great driver. These people come from all walks of life and have been fantastic as I get used to driving etc. I tell ... read more

From when I arrived in the United States I have been continually blown away at how many really big people there are. Luckily I haven't had to sit next to any of them on a plane. Honestly they are huge. Everywhere I look when I'm eating at a restaurant or looking at the people in their cars I see people who have a hard time even walking. Seeing them in a restaurant puts me off eating most of the menu and definitely not keen on eating desert. The people in this country are eating themselves to death. More people are overweight than thin. The tragedy is that the kids are also in the same situation. No I don't think I will take photos of this or maybe I will. Hmmmm The size of the cars ... read more
