As a part of what turned into serious adventure month a group of friends and I woke up at like 5am and left for La Jolla, CA for a fun filled day of Sea Cave Kayaking and Paragliding. When we headed out, we were skeptical weather or not we would actually be able to do both since both sports required specific weather conditions. To begin the morning, we suited up in wetsuits at the La Jolla Kayak store and proceed to venture out into the ocean. The craziest part in my opinion was making it past the initial waves. It felt like a ride at Disney or something, riding up and abruptly dropping down from the tip of a wave. Luckily we never flipped. The waves were actually too rough for us to go into to ... read more

DAY 12 Tuesday, December 30, 2008 SEAWORLD Those aren’t bags under my eyes - they’re circles of FUN!! I’m noticing my eyes are a little bloodshot and cloudy and there’s extra colors under them. The price you pay for fun, I guess?!? That’s why there’s Visine, right? It was an absolutely gorgeous drive to San Diego! We rolled down our windows, had our shades on, changed from turtlenecks and longsleeves to shorts and t-shirts. It was great! We met up with our friends, the Bludaus, at Sea World and enjoyed yet another park. Those Beluga Whales were incredible. It was a perfect picture of strength and blubber working gracefully and powerfully together in melodious movements. God is so amazing in all his creation and creatures! They were truly stunning! We caught the dolphin show and the ... read more

It could only happen in La Jolla... I'm not saying it's an expensive place to live, but how many towns or cities do you know with a used Bugatti showroom? For those of you not in the know, the Bugatti Veyron is probably the fastest, most expensive commercially produced car ever made. I haven't checked out the exact price but we're talking around 2 MILLION dollars for a new one! No, I didn't ask for a test drive. Budget If you can't afford the Bugatti, the dealer does have some budget cars in stock. The silver car below, next to the Veyron - sorry the photos are through windows, but I'm not stupid enough to walk in and ask to take photos of the cars - is a $1 million Spyker from Holland. Then in the ... read more

We arrived yesterday in San Diego without a hitch. We went to retrieve our rental car and needless to say after much stress we ended up with a Dodge Charger which I guess is cool enough. After a mere few minutes in the car we already started appreciating having the extra space. It is pretty obvious that someone before us rented the Charger in order to do donuts and j-turns and possibly even drag race....but we will be okay as long as we don't have to make any more prompt lane changes. Our first stop was La Jolla for lunch. We ate at a beautiful rooftop terrace resturaunt that served sort of modern italian sandwiches. La Jolla is very swanky and beautifully landscaped. We then headed up the coastline to Del Mar where we are staying. ... read more

Tuesday 12 Aug We headed out early to go for our re scheduled kayak and snorkel tour of La Jolla caves and underwater marine park. After taking the advice of the tour guide, we donned our wet suits and then collected our equipment. We needed snorkel masks and tube, flippers, underwater camera and a personal floatation devise!! Once we were all kitted up we headed to the beach with 4 others and jumped in our tandem kayak. The guide explained getting out to sea was the trickiest part of the tour and to head straight out through the waves without letting the kayak turn. So with me steering and Gra the power house at the front we roller coasted over the waves no probs. It was great fun and even Gra enjoyed the ride until the ... read more

Saturday Woke early to set off to San Diego, but Gra couldn't resist trying the breakfast menu at Carlow's and as we were due to be on the go all day I wasn't saying no to a spinach and mushroom omelette either. On the way to San Diego there was a scenic driving route called palms to pines highway. It was a windy and very scary road, but the views were really worth it. At the top of this mountain pass we headed to Lake Hemet to cool down and stretch our legs. Although I had wanted to get to Idyllwild it was just too far North of the route so we headed West and thats when it all went wrong!! With me driving and not taking note of the road signs, simply following Myra's (our ... read more

We're in San Diego today!! Got up bright -n- early to head to San Diego from Palm Springs (Leaving behind 95 degrees for a cooler 72-ish temperature!) Took us close to 3 hours after coffee-breaks & a quick ATM stop... First place to visit? Cabrillo State Park @ Point Loma. There we could get a landscape view of the San Diego and it's coastline. We parked the HMV (hot-mama-vehicle), then walked the half-mile down the access road to explore the Light Station. The viewing area is comprised of the lighthouse and three original light keepers’ houses and outbuildings. The light house has been a San Diego icon since 1854. It was a bit smoggy, but we were able to see the most northern part of TJ, Mexico from the vantage point. Thank goodness for GPS' ... read more
