geoff, moe & kids

Hi out there in blogger world! Hope you enjoy reading about our travel adventures, mishaps, and ah-has. So, let's go!

May our joy be made complete in Christ Jesus as we learn to remain in God's love. "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." John 15:11-12

DAY 16 - Tuesday, July 12, 2016 Spearfish, SD to Devils Tower - Wyoming to Buffalo, WY Just winging it. Before ever leaving Spokane, Geoff and I mapped out as many details about our trip as we could. But ever since Day 12 - when Spirit needed repairs - we’ve been “going with the flow” a bit as we head back west. It’s a good feeling to wake up and talk with God, “Okay, Boss, what do You have for us today?” Every day should have that simple focus - whether we’re on vacation or at home doing our “normal” daily jobs. This morning was relaxing and we scheduled horse rides in the afternoon somewhere around Devils Tower near Sundance, WY. It was an easy drive - distance wise - but boy can that wind blow! ... read more

DAY 15 - Monday, July 11, 2016 Black Hills National Forest to Mt. Rushmore to Keystone, SD to Rapid City, SD to Spearfish, SD Thank you, Lord God, for a good night’s sleep! It’s easy to forget what solid sleep feels like on a 20 day motorhome trip. If you’ve been reading our blog for this whole trip than you know “we had a nice breakfast.” :) And back to Mt. Rushmore. We watched the movie, listened to a ranger speak about the sculptor’s vision and work, and thoroughly enjoyed one of our greatest American landmarks. Pearl did her junior ranger work and can now tell you all about Mt. Rushmore - just ask her! We ate Thomas Jefferson’s hand-scooped vanilla ice-cream bought more t-shirts and finished our time at Mt. Rushmore. We still had a ... read more

DAY 14 - Sunday, July 10, 2016 Wayne, Nebraska to Oacoma, SD - Missouri River to Wall, SD to Keystone, SD - Mt. Rushmore National Monument to Willow Creek Black Hills National Forest Campground Who knew Wayne, Nebraska would be such a rockin’ town all night long? They are serious about their Chicken Show weekend! Geoff drove us back toward the east entrance of town and we slept away from all the celebration noise. In the morning we said goodbye to our Glass family relatives - Thanks again for the showers! :) It was a real treat to meet more relatives - thank you, Lord! We grocery shopped at the local Pac ’N Save and hit our first of several highways to weave our way northwest back to Interstate-90. Very pretty countrysides but it was a ... read more

DAY 13 - Saturday, July 9, 2016 Hampton, IL and the Mighty Mississip to West Branch, IA to Des Moines, IA to Wayne, NE Rise and shine - time to cross the Mighty Mississippi River! Big driving day - again! And it promises to be a hot one. We had the unexpected blessing of following the sign to the Herbert Hoover Museum in West Branch, IA (just east 10 minutes from Iowa City). In addition to getting a good dose of presidential history, Pearl started her Junior Ranger career - answering questions about the National Park/Historic site and getting sworn in by a Park Ranger, and she even earned a badge! It pinned quite nicely on to her Creation Museum Park Ranger pink vest. I had another “Music Man” moment too. The town of West Branch ... read more

DAY 12 - Friday, July 8, 2016 Covington, KY to to Cincinnati, Oh to Indianapolis, IN to Hampton, IL (near Rock Island) We maximized our hotel stay until they kicked us out at noon. Back in Spirit and back on the road. Crossing the Ohio River into Cincinnati the entire sky turned dark - heavy rains and lightning started - it was kind of eerie. Because of bad weather and heavy traffic we missed our exit onto Highway 74 West so we made a detour around and eventually headed west toward Indianapolis. At some point we gained an hour - back to Central Time Zone (Thanks, Brenda Fletcher!) :) and back to corn fields - this time they were both on the righthand side and the lefthand side! Getting crazy! So in one day we were ... read more

Day 11 - Thursday, July 7, 2016 Indian Springs Campground to Elsmere, KY to Cincinnati, OH Zoo Geoff and I woke up and got early morning showers, packed up the RV campsite and rolled down the highway back into Kentucky to find a rental car and Ernie’s Garage. God had a better idea! Brad from Ernie’s Garage called us right as we were headed to Enterprise Car Rental and he said, “We have the part! Come on over and we’ll fix it right away. Don’t waste money on a rental!” And we said, “Yes, sir!” Thank you again for all your sweet prayers! God continues to show His faithful, caring hand for us every single day! We hung out with Brad in the office while Phillip fixed our rig and we learned that Cincinnati is the ... read more

Another early morning - off we go on our way to tour the inside of Ark Encounter. So exciting!! Even though we left earlier this morning than yesterday for our private showing there were still plenty of people waiting for the shuttle buses ahead of us. We weren’t prepared for the traffic - but the Williamstown police were and we got to the parking lot of the Ark Encounter a little later than we’d hoped but we got there safely. Then we joined a huge line of other donors and AIG supporters for the bus transport to drive us to the exhibit were the ribbon cutting ceremony would be held. Prepare to Believe! www.creationmuseum.org 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” You know you’ve made the right vacation choice when your sixteen year old tells you, “It’s nice to be at a museum where you can believe everything they're teaching.” Our whole family was in awe today of the wonderful, solid teaching from God’s Word - from the beginning in the book of Genesis. God made all land animals on Day 6 of Creation - all land animals includes dinosaurs. What we’ve been taught in public schools is just opinion and theory about the earth possibly being ... read more
