A+, Jean-Pierre & Claire... read more

Can it be that we have made it all the way across from the Atlantic to the Pacific towing that damn trailer? And we still haven't figured out how to get the hot water running in it. Arrived at Paul and Jacki's house last night, and they took us out for Sushi. The view of the Pacific from the terrace is sumptuous. We haven't had showers like these in months. The kids are asking their father why he didn't decide to become a heart surgeon. The reports on Mexican History are coming along. Yesterday Max saw a Red Diamondback Rattlesnake slithering slowly past us on the Canyon Trail in Agua Caliente! Papa's teeth flew out when we approached the airport in Phoenix, but no problem for the dentist in Mexico! So far they are still intact. ... read more

We got a huge thunder shower last night. It has been 6 months since last time we had rain. It cleared out southern California. My buddy and I decided to head for San Diego for a casual visit because there was an air race show down there. It was such a sunny day with only a few clouds in the sky. We drove on the I-5 freeway and surprisingly the traffic was not too bad as usually could have been. Once we hit Oceanside, the sky became overcast and the traffic was getting worse. We then decided to exit the freeway and take the local route. As soon as we took the exit, we saw a few tornado-shaped clouds right above the ocean. Most cars stopped on the side of the road. You can see people ... read more

This morning I got chatting to one of the women, called Jillian from New Jersey, that I'd spoken to the evening before and mentioned that I planned to go up the coast to have a look around Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and La Jolla (pronounced La Hoya), and she said she'd been thinking of doing the same and would give me a lift up in her hired car. So off we went with our directions and rather surprisingly found it very easily,a lthough was a little bit scary, what with being on the wrong side of the road and being in the car with a New York driver!! When we got out of the car we realised we were parked right by a sea lion cove so we went over and watched them sunbathing a messing ... read more

Hello again friends, family, loved ones (and for those of you whom I may never have even met but who have donated to my cause anyway, please know that you are now firmly and forever entrenched in the “loved ones” category). As you may have noticed, I haven’t exactly been updating this blog with any real frequency or, you know, at all really, so it is probably no surprise to hear that I’ve got quite a bit to tell you about (and for those of you who’ve already scrolled down the page to see how long this goes on and are even now preparing to send me a “sound’s great” email before clicking off into other parts of the digital realm, please don’t, I’ll keep this brief(ish) and you may even have some fun). So to ... read more

I'm going to start in the middle here and we'll work our way back as we go along. Sound good? Awesome. So, today is more or less a new beginning for me. I'm about 4 weeks or so into my marathon training and really starting to notice some results. For instance. Last Saturday I ran seven miles. Seven miles! Seven! Now, in comparison to the what, 26.2 that I'll have to run in October, yeah, seven is not such a huge number. But, in comparison to the roughly, oh, I don't know... none, that I used to run, seven is Huge! So that's a major change right there. The next big change... pain. Whew. I mean, I've had a messed up knee for some time now and that's no big thing (especially since I actually bought ... read more
