Acapulco!! Yesterday we docked at 8 am. I was awake, so I was lucky enough to see the city as we pulled into the bay. It was so pretty. I had always pictures Acapulco as a small resort town, like you might find on an island. I was so wrong. Acapulco is a city, and a big one at that. After the city briefing a group of us decided to explore. As we left the dock we were all bombarded with taxi drivers. It was a bit overwhelming. One guy approached us, and after some discussion he agreed to take us to the market for $1 per person. Thinking that was a great price we all jumped into the van, and pulled into traffic. All I have to say is that I am so thankful ... read more

Day 30 - Saturday 23 June 2007 - Oacaxa and Monte Alban Today we took a short bus trip to the ruins site of Monte Alban. The bus trip took us up quite high and past a lot of local mexican homes. The homes outside of the actual towns seem to be fairly basic. Some are even just basic walls, no flooring and sheet metal for a roof. They are also packed in together tightly. I´ve attached a pic, so hopefully you get some idea. Monte Alban began around 500 BC through 800 AD, but I don´t think anyone one actually knows why it was abandoned. It was the capital of the Zapotecs. There are 12 sites within the area and we had a local tour guide taking us around them for about 2 hours. ... read more

Ready for another pyramid? Hell yeah, that's what I thought. Really, after a day at Teotihuacan I was feeling great. Not to mention the great workout, too haha. Next day we went to the town of Tepoztlan, situated in the state of Morelos (it can be confusing, beacuse Tepotzlan also exists) which is, really, one of the most beautiful places in Mexico. This is what I was really expecting, small towns, warm people, rich, bold colors everywhere, anything that represents the true flavor of Mexico. I later found out that that color and flavor could be found in every mexican corner. When we arrived at the parking, you could see the mountain where it was the pyramid, it was so high and far that you could cover it with your finger. People were so nice ... read more

Day 28 - Friday 22 June 2007 - Oaxaca Today was another early morning and a slightly longer bus trip to Oaxaca (pronounced Wahaca). We arrived around lunch and went straight away to lunch and another walking tour of the city. I don´t think Oaxaca is quite as nice as Puebla, but it does have a similar feel to it, with again, lots of colonial buildings, churches and courtyards. I´m beginning to think that most of Mexico is made up of little towns just like the past two we´ve visited! Not much different was different from yesterday, although we did explore a few markets that had food in them and got to taste a few local foods, including cheese and chocolate and the mole, a sauce made from 13 different types of chilis, nuts and ... read more

I can't say how much I loved Teotihuacan. It was so amazing, I took like 30 photos or so, a mistake considering I didn't have the damn cable to pass the pictures to the computer. Never mind, I was very excited, I kept omg flash and look at that another flash jajaj. I sometimes feel as if I'm losing some part of the experience always being with the camera, flash no flash, light this and that etc. But anyway, Teotihuacan was a place like I have never visited before. It was in the morning, and you could see these massive pyramids standing in front of you... la Pirámide del Sol y de la Luna. Walking to them, there were vendors everywhere offering these gorgeous silver jewelry..... it was very tempting but our mexican friend convinced ... read more

Buenas dias Amigos, So i have been in Mexico for the last leg of the trip, first stop Cancun (bare with me while typing this as the bloody "w" and "e" on they keyboard hardly work), not much to tell about Cancun really its geared up for American tourists when they are on spring break, so its mainly lounging by the pool or on the beach and drinking shitloads, so was pretty dam good although i did manage to burn my armpits in the sun, ow! Went downtown to mingle with the locals but theres not much to see to be honest, plus there is the hole language barrier, hardly anyon speaks english, i did manage to pick up some Cuban cigars though and got quite a good deal on them, so i will look ... read more

Day 27 - Wednesday 20 June 2007 - Mexico City bus tour OK, I have to admit to feeling pretty crappy today. I have a slight cold and after all the walking and climbing of stairs yesterday, plus a pretty crap nights sleep (again!), I feel achy and tired this morning. Still, I managed to drag my sorry butt out of bed to go on a 3 or so hour open top bus tour of the city. This was great, with audio commentary in English and so many sights to take in. Also, for only 100 paesos (about $10 US dollars), it was worth it! After the bus ride I gave in to my tiredness and went back to the room to try to sleep. Wasn´t very successful though, as there were just too many ... read more

As you can see from the amount of photos (and I only included 1/4 of them) on this entry, we had a fabulous time in Guanajauto. We would suggest this city to anyone traveling in Mexico. It has a little something for everyone!!! We started our day in the early afternoon from Chipancingo and traveled to Mexico City, approx. 4 hours, where we transferred buses, after a few hour wait, of course. We then traveled, approx. 5, hours, to the cobbled streets of Guanajuato. We arrived around 12:30 a.m., so besides the view from our roof top, we didn't see much else, but little did we know what Guanajuato had in store for us for the next couple of days. Gorgeous Guanajuato is crammed onto the steep slopes of a ravine, with narrow streets twisting ... read more
