Hey monkeys!! Yes I´m still in Cancun...its growing on me a little, probably thanks to a few nights out and some sights today.... but I think I´ll still head to Playa del Carmen early this week. Went out on Thursday night to a massive club called Coco Bongo....... was pretty awesome... apart from being packed and playing some ok music... they put on these movie based shows every half an hour or so....they are unbelievable!!!... the first thing we saw when we walked in (we being myself and some other cats from the hostel I´m staying at) was 3 girls dressed as vampires flying across the heads of the crowd while a Van Helsing and a Dracula battled it out in the middle of the dancefloor on a raised platform.... and then they were hoisted into ... read more

Hola y buenos noches from Cancún! Claire: We have arrived safely (yay!) after muchas travelling... our flights were long but good with only tiny delays and comfy seats with shockingly tasty airplane food (we got pizza!). We arrived around 10pm local time last night (we're 6 hours behind you guys the whole time we're over here) and went straight to our hostel. we ventured out for some water but went straight to bed after that. We woke early to explore the area our hostel is in; we’re staying in Ciudad Cancún which is very different from the Zona Hotelera where all the fancy rich folk go. We found a nice little beach that was quite quiet and settled in for some lunch by the ocean with obligatory cervesa (the food was fantastic, we only had chicken ... read more

Ola ! Just a quick note to rave about this resort. 5 Star indeed ! I have been to a few different resorts throughout Mexico, and Bahia Principe has stolen my heart. I strongly recomend to anyone looking for a layed back relaxing holiday. From beaches to the 9 pools, 15 bars and 12 restaraunts, there is no lack of venue. I will definately return someday. I actually booked an extra week while there and did some scuba diving along Cosumel and Playa Del Carmen, as well as some cenotes, all were magnificent. Check it out !... read more

Hello yet again, So its about my 3rd day in Cancun, funny sort of place. Not at all what I was expecting. I guess i was expecting big long beach, a few bars close by, nice. Uh uh.....Along the "hotel zone" which is where the beach is......its just gigantic hotel after gigantic hotel...bit like Siem Reap was but on a massive scale.....if the giant hotel isnt finished its under construction. And im staying "downtown" where there is no beach...its only a 5 minute bus ride though, but its like the local cancun, not the touristy part. Its not as bad as i initially thought..but still not exactly what i was looking for. So not sure what im going to do.... was talking to fellow backpacker Mags here in the hostel, and shes tipped me off to ... read more

olla, after a total of 10 hours of airport layover time between seattle and dallas i have finally arrived. getting into cancun this afternoon was great, i took some photos. going through customs was chill and i caught a bus imideatly into the city. I ended up meeting people on the bus and found a nice little hostel called blue sky...wich is kind of funny since it is actually overcast here today, and really muggy; but thats ok because i am here and my adventure has just begun...lots of time for blue bird days. i romed around today, went down to the water this evening. some of the kids i have met and i went on an adventure along the beach, then we went for piña coladas. As well this evening i purchased a plain ticket ... read more

J.P.... read more

Hello All!! After a long flight to Atlanta and a lot of meals and snacks followed by a short flight to Cahn-Cooon (the purser´s pronunciation, not ours) we arrived at our hostel (Chac-Mool) in Downtown Cancun around 8pm. It´s nice and humid, around 30 degrees, a nice change from the Dutch rain :) We had yet another little snack and went to bed, and had no trouble falling asleep. I (Floor) was awoken by Krista at around 4.30 am because she was convinced there was an animal (a large spider or scorpion) walking in our airconditioning. I mumbled "no don´t worry it´s a cat or a bird" (obviously) and went straight back to sleep. Today we explored the Av. Tulum and then took a bus to the Hotel Zone, we didn´t fall for the bus driver´s ... read more
