We had a very relaxing and chilled out Easter weekend in Cancún. Unfortunately we missed out on the Easter eggs but we didn’t mind too much as thanks to mama and papa Sweet we stayed in a very swish hotel instead. We stayed at the InterContinental in the hotel zone and had a very fancy room with an awesome seaview, bathroom, hot water, cable t.v., a well stocked mini-bar (not so well stocked when we left!) and A/C. The hotel also had a couple of pools, a gorgeous beach, a few restaurants and a gym. What more could you ask for?!? Blogger Bec Well, today was a difficult day. We woke excited about the prospect of a day testing out our new snorkelling gear in Playa Del Carmen, but after our morning email check, that prospect went completely out the window! Sitting like a little bomb in my inbox was the news that our South America trip was cancelled due to "insufficient interest". However, there were other tours that we could take that would work into the dates we had planned. Unfortunetly, these trips required us to fork out more cash... Very, very disappointing and translated into a day of utter chaos. We spent about 4 hours on the net and huddled over a calculator and calendar trying to understand why this had happened. Ok, so maybe it was a bunk bed , and I was on the top bunk, he on the bottom. That was my first night in Cancun. In NY,I left my house at 6 in the morning and took a cab to Newark Airport in New Jersey. For those of you who don´t already know I occasionally suffer from motion sickness. Mainly of the automobile kind. And city busses. Very rarely do I take a city bus. If a train can´t get me there, I ain´t goin´. The cab driver wasn´t a crazy driver, nonetheless I got sick. Maybe because I didn´t sleep at night and broke day doing some last minute packing, but by the time we got tothe airport I was holding in my vomit. But as soon as I pad the man I ... read more

Yuuw menskes, hier dan het langverwachte eerste verslagje... Met een uur vertraging dan toch eindelijk richting Cancun vertrokken... een lange turbulente, non-acoholische vlucht met het nodige ge-takk (= bedankt in het Zweeds) Voor het eerst hebben ze volle kotszakjes zien wegdragen (niet van ons for the record!!) Voor de rest liggen haken, filmke gekeken, geboeft... Rond 13.10u plaatselijke tijd eindelijk geland op Mexicaanse bodem-Aeropuerto de Cancun. Eenmaal van de vlieger werden we overvallen door de hitte... daar kwamen ze toch voor, niet ( weg van regen en slechte sneeuw) Vlotjes door de douane, snel de bagage van de band gehaald terwijl de rest van de koffers uit de bocht vlogen. Ok , so i was a week in Monterrey and it has been a great week , first i want to thank Lucy for showing me the city so thanks ! We went to the museom of Mexican history where ive got to learn about Mexican history , from the beginning with all the locals that were here, the Spanish people coming here a few centuries ago and the Mexico revolution . Weve also been to the Glass museom, whice was a bit small but very beautiful glass things (mostly glasses) but there were small Mexicans playing thier small guitars and a few scenes from the Birth of Jesus made completly with glass .
