Allen is watching Miss Congeniality 2 in bed with his feet up - his favourite foot position when he's happy. We just came back from a hefty dinner (surf and turf) and a stroll by the pool side. The weather has been very pleasant all day today - overcast and breezy. It's been a very interesting experience observing the fellow hotel guests. First of all, we have Darth Vadar whom we first saw on our boat ride to Isla Majueres. Our Darth Vadar was a fragile Asian woman who wore a plastic dark green sun visor which was probably twice the size of her face. Why is it called like this, I have no idea! We took the bus after our brunch at the hotel next door, it's agreable as we have a sea view in the morning , only us and the carribean sea ^^. We arrived after a few minutes and and had to ask for the path. Well, it's not as welcoming as in the hotel zone, but I could see the other side of Cancun, no sea, people working, on one hand a big wal mart and on the other one, market 28. Ah I hated it, we had to bargain like hell, but it's the game when you're a tourist...my sis bought a hammock for 15dollars and she left it at the reception the day we had to depart!!! Making home in Cancun Arrived without any problems into Cancun, but was treated to an extra half hour on the plane while parked waiting for a bus to deliever us like cargo into the immigration office. Took a bus from the airport to Centro Cancun and found Mexico hostels about twenty minutes after leaving the bus terminal. For the financially concerned my bed here is running me 100 pesos per night. The published exchange rate for bank cards from ATMs right now is hovering around 11.10 Pesos to the US$. So basically its about $10 US which includes towel, sheets, and breakfast. Cancun to me is two cities in one. There is Centro (Downtown) and the Zona Hotelera. Downtown is what you would expect for a poorer country. Many of the building are concrete block or ... read more

Immigration clearance and customs inspection were surprising fast despite the volume of visitors arriving at the airport in Cancun. The ride to the resort was less than 5 miles. The resort is HUGE! It has over 2,000 rooms and it has two massive lobby complexes, one at each end of the property. We are staying at the Sunrise section in the southend which is the bigger of the two. There are five to six restaurants in each section in the lobby or by the pool. Every room faces the sea and has a 2-person jacuzzi tub by the balcony. Allen is laying on the hammock in the balcony this morning. After 9 hours and a half, we landed in Cancun, which means "snake nest" (according to what I've heard!), yeah, It was so hot after being in a air-conditioned plane. I was a little bit disoriented, but could recognized the Mexicans and the first impression I had was "Oh that's is so great I'm in Latin America, near the Caribean, at the same time somewhere on earth we've heard about quite a lot these last years about their night life and the spring break thingy". My sis' had the song "la cucaracha" in her head, she could'nt help herself singing it! Also, I didn't know la propina was a mexican habit.
