Hello All!!
After a long flight to Atlanta and a lot of meals and snacks followed by a short flight to Cahn-Cooon (the purserīs pronunciation, not ours) we arrived at our hostel (Chac-Mool) in Downtown Cancun around 8pm. Itīs nice and humid, around 30 degrees, a nice change from the Dutch rain :)
We had yet another little snack and went to bed, and had no trouble falling asleep. I (Floor) was awoken by Krista at around 4.30 am because she was convinced there was an animal (a large spider or scorpion) walking in our airconditioning. I mumbled "no donīt worry itīs a cat or a bird" (obviously) and went straight back to sleep.
Today we explored the Av. Tulum and then took a bus to the Hotel Zone, we didnīt fall for the bus driverīs sneaky ways of trying to short change us, and decided to get off at Playa Tortugas. We had a drink and then settled on some beach chairs (we misunderstood theĻ"cien pesos" for "diez pesos" but took them anyway..) There were only locals around us and the menus they got were definitely cheaper than ours. The salesmen at the market also tried to
sell Krista a sarong for 35 dollars, which weīd seen for 4.50 downtown....he argued it was because of the much higher quality (we havenīt heard that one before..) she obviously decided against it...after which the price quickly went down. But still, the sarong downtown seemed like a better option :)
It was really relaxing to lie by the pale blue water and do absolutely nothing, just occasionally reading or doing a sudoku puzzle. The weather so far seems to be fine even though itīs the rainy season. We had some drizzle this morning and then it was all blue skies after that. Therefore weīve decided to head to Isla Mujeres tomorrow for some more beach - relaxing time. After that weīre heading for the Maya temples.
Tonight weīre checking out the nightlife here in Cancun....although itīs not what weīre here for and itīs incredibly touristy down in the Hotel Zone (even in the offseason) we figured while weīre here weīll see what itīs like.
Hasta Luego everyone, pictures next time!
Krista and Flo

Hey Fallulah! God does that sound wonderful! Don't let them steal your pesos, muchacha! I'm here in Boston enjoying the gorgeous New England autumn weather, but I still wish I was reading and doing sudoku puzzles on a beach with you! Have a great time and write to me when you get back home. Love you!
