Hello All!!
After a long flight to Atlanta and a lot of meals and snacks followed by a short flight to Cahn-Cooon (the purser´s pronunciation, not ours) we arrived at our hostel (Chac-Mool) in Downtown Cancun around 8pm. It´s nice and humid, around 30 degrees, a nice change from the Dutch rain :)
We had yet another little snack and went to bed, and had no trouble falling asleep. I (Floor) was awoken by Krista at around 4.30 am because she was convinced there was an animal (a large spider or scorpion) walking in our airconditioning. I mumbled "no don´t worry it´s a cat or a bird" (obviously) and went straight back to sleep.
Today we explored the Av. Tulum and then took a bus to the Hotel Zone, we didn´t fall for the bus driver´s sneaky ways of trying to short change us, and decided to get off at Playa Tortugas. We had a drink and then settled on some beach chairs (we misunderstood the¨"cien pesos" for "diez pesos" but took them anyway..) There were only locals around us and the menus they got were definitely cheaper than ours. The salesmen at the market also tried to
sell Krista a sarong for 35 dollars, which we´d seen for 4.50 downtown....he argued it was because of the much higher quality (we haven´t heard that one before..) she obviously decided against it...after which the price quickly went down. But still, the sarong downtown seemed like a better option :)
It was really relaxing to lie by the pale blue water and do absolutely nothing, just occasionally reading or doing a sudoku puzzle. The weather so far seems to be fine even though it´s the rainy season. We had some drizzle this morning and then it was all blue skies after that. Therefore we´ve decided to head to Isla Mujeres tomorrow for some more beach - relaxing time. After that we´re heading for the Maya temples.
Tonight we´re checking out the nightlife here in Cancun....although it´s not what we´re here for and it´s incredibly touristy down in the Hotel Zone (even in the offseason) we figured while we´re here we´ll see what it´s like.
Hasta Luego everyone, pictures next time!

Sounds wonderful!
Hey Fallulah! God does that sound wonderful! Don't let them steal your pesos, muchacha! I'm here in Boston enjoying the gorgeous New England autumn weather, but I still wish I was reading and doing sudoku puzzles on a beach with you! Have a great time and write to me when you get back home. Love you!
