... read more

Eg toyde grensa for fysisk aktivitet i sola tol det maksimale i jakta paa ... read more

Well, phew.... I have just spent the last week recovering this blog site after the HUGE travel blog crash. Where I lost EVERYTHING. All my blogs disappeared and I have now decided to back them all up elsewhere as well. Luckily we are now back in business. So on the weeked Rod and Jess, Jez and I all headed out to Bab Al Shams for dinner and to scope the place out. It was amazing. Bab Al Shams is a part of the Jumeirah chain of hotels and this one is about 1/2 an hour out in the desert and is designed in the style of an Arabian Fort. The place is incredible. We sat outside in the roof bar - which was a little warm I have to admit - and had some lovely wine ... read more

I decided to try and take Jeremy out for a treat surprise on Friday since he had been working so hard. So I did my research and found this really cool hot air balloon at one of the malls which is tethered to the mall and only goes up and down. However it gives you great sweeping views of the Dubai metropolitain area. Well at least that it what the brouchure said. So we went all the way out to Ibn Battuta Mall to try this thing out, walked up to the counter and the lady said that they don't fly during the day in summer as it is too hot. We were astounded. It was 10am in the morning and was only about 39 degrees outside. Hardly hot at all! We did argue and debate ... read more

It was most exciting. We went all the way over to Wafi City ( a shopping mall in Dubai) last night to look at handbags and discovered that they have opened a whole new retail area there. And it was totally fantastic. All of Wafi City is based on an Egyptian theme and there is gong to be a new raffles hotel there, in the shape of a pyramid (I actually use it as a landmark when I am driving around). And the inside of the mall has a whole lot of mini pyramids inside of it. The best part is that it isn't crowded and there were very few people there at all. ... read more

We have finally managed to get a photo of Jeremy's favourite little worker man on the way to work. For some reason this car has fabricated a huge cardboard box hat that he wears on his head as he sweeps the road outside of the hotel. Go figure. And I also managed to snap one of the more common cars that you see around the place. ... read more

It has been close to a month now since my last blog and it has really flown by despite being in the office most of the time. I am currently smack bang in between the UAE and Qatar on a job where we are drilling some holes to find out what is underneath the seabed to extend a runway on a small island close by. Now today has been a very eventful one (compared to the last 2 weeks of nothing happening) as first some scanning equipment that is pretty crucial in the operation of this job just decided to die on me after working 20min beforehand. That left me a little annoyed as it held back us throwing down the 20 tonne anchors. That took up a few hours but the most exciting part of ... read more
