A young couple going to Dubai

Help me with "private apartments" or other alternatives to a hotel.

Hi all !

Me and my girlfriend are going on a 5-day trip to Dubai. But because we are only 17 years old, we are not allowed to stay at a "regular" hotel, as you need to be 18 to do so. The only alternative i can think of is to rent a "private apartment/studio" (like those on www.homeaway.com). Is there any other alternatives? I can't really understand why you have to be 18. I have stayed alone at a hotel before, and that was never a problem. I'm from Denmark, if that is of any matter.

Thank you 😊 Reply to this

Hello Malte 😊

I think when you are not yet 18 you may even need your parents concent to leave Denmark, because you are still a minor. Maybe the hotel will also let you stay if you have your parents concent. May be worth asking if a letter from your parents will make a difference.

Hey Mel

Thank's for your answer. I have talked to the UAE authoreties, and they say that it's no problem to get in to the country. We'll just get a visa at the airport. The hotels say that it's a law, so i don't think that a letter from our parents will do any different. Sadly.

Any suggestions are welcome 😊 Reply to this

The Le Meridien chain has a couple of apartments within Deira - they are good value. It is close to the old part of Dubai so everything is cheaper - and that includes things such as Internet cafes and supermarkets.

Hi... I may help you but I have to check with one of our relatives who owns a 4-star hotel. I will see if he can help you out. Reply to this

Well... I have asked the guy and he told me not it is normal we can accept. The hotel that he owns called Dubai Avari or Avari Dubai. It is a 4-star hotel but really good one. But he also said that all hotels must accept you too. He said that it is the first time to hear about this subject. Reply to this

Hi Mohammed

If have contacted 5-10 hotel's and they say that it's illegal for hotels to accept people under 18 travelling alone. Did he say anything about that?

Thank you again. It's nice to hear things from an local. Reply to this

Hi Mohammed, I will be travelling to dubai in November and will need somewhere to stay for two nights as I am 17. Is it possible for you to arrange something with your cousin? Reply to this

I think in this case your local tour operators can help you better as they have all kinds of information that you need for your trip. If you are young then I don't thing it will be much problem to get a place to live. You just need to make a inquire from your local travel agency like did on my trip from "Citadeltours" our local tour agency. Reply to this
