Monday Got to Milnagvie at quarter to nine. Had to wait till the shops opened at nine so I could get some meth for the little stove I have borrowed of Jimmy Stewart. It was very easy to get a hold off and cheap as well. Now I know why druggies use it lol. Got underway at quarter past nine. Havent brought a map with me, but the route is well sign posted and easy to follow. Backpack is a killer. I have only really took the basics with me, but i don't know how my back and shoulders will be by the end of the week. Meet a couple of women from essex in the morning. Walked with them for a couple of hours. They were telling me about all their walking holidays they ... read more

We are now coming to the end of our time in the UK, including London and Fleetwood and will be starting our Contiki Tour through Europe tomorrow. We have had a fabulous time, London was great for the sites (although the weather was a bit awful, cold & wet). We went up the London Eye and got some photo's though could see very far due to the rain and mist. Had my photo taken outside Buckingham Palace (and Daniel trying to open the gates of Buckingham). We have travelled South to Portsmouth were I got to meet some of my 2nd & 3rd generation cousins and got a tour of the area. We got to go up their Millenium Tower - created to celebrate the year 2000, but was only finished & opened 6 Months ago ... read more

Headed to Weymouth for the weekend for Stella's birthday. Steve picked me up from work at about 3 pm Friday, drove in the horrendous traffic to get Sandra from Fords at Dunton. Following this had the 'Sat Nav' to work out the best route to get to Weymouth. Seemed to take ages and stopped once for a fab hot chocolate, playing silly games best of which was ‘What animal am I?’ Arrived at our B & B on the seafront at about 9 pm. Stella and Wayne had arrived about an hour before us. Settled in our rooms and then headed out for some food, decided to get a cab to a good Indian in town. Lovely food and good conversation, even had some hubbly bubbly before grabbing a cab back. Realised that I had ... read more

Had a great time in Scotland. David's Mum and Dad (Catherine and Bill) came to visit us in Switzerland and then we all headed up to Scotland for Easter. Catherine was a real trooper and although I know she was in alot of pain sometimes, she made the trip there and back to Zurich and took it all in her stride. Dave, myself and Angus stayed with Dave's Cousin Linda & John and their daughter Kelly. They are really lovely people and made us feel right at home. Linda waited on us hand and foot! And John became Angus "punching bag"....(thanks John!). Dave only stayed in Stirling for 4 days but we managed to go to Stirling Castle and up to Edinburgh Castle as well. Unfortunately, Dave missed the big Reynolds gathering on Easter Sunday ... read more

Hey Sarah (she is our biggest reader... or maybe our only one) and other Camp K & K subscribers , So this might seem a little random, seen everyone knows that we are back in the great land of Australia for a little while. The weather in grand old Bathurst today is rainy and cold and I have been going though my notes of our might pig van adventures of the U.K and I haven’t written these up yet so I thought I would. So campervaning or booting as it is called in the U.K was how we entertained ourselves for the last 2 weeks of our time in the mother land. First lesson learnt when hiring a van from wicked camper enquire what is on the van first. It is extremely hard to blend ... read more

Just realized this morning thats now April, another month gone and another month closer to my Grand Adventure,it was originally a trip, but some friends on the Couch Surfing site said it was too much to be called a trip. So its now officially my Grand Adventure, i was out with friends last night in the Northern Quarter in Manchester city center and so im feeling a little worse for wear this morning. I think minimizing for a trip just shows how much value ourselves in the west put into materialistic things and how we waste money. I am selling more stuff on eBay and the fact i still have stuff to sell on eBay goes to show how much time and money i have wasted on stuff that i have been used or worn once. ... read more

Rough RouteJames ParkinJust a quick note: All of my kit and paperwork has been finalised (THIS IS COSTING A FORTUNE!). Only 10 days left until i travel 7740 miles away from home (12500km!!), thats a LONG way! My feelings at this stage are excitement mixed with a lot of nerves, 7800 miles with over 20kg of expensive luggage seems a challenging task.... read more

only 2 mins of internet left... got up this morning to do a few last minute things.. went to a medical museum, saw a 150 year old operating theatre - thank god its not like that anymore! scary to think you'd probably be better off if you didnt go see the doctor. finally got up in teh london eye, crazy big ferris wheel type thing. great views of all of london then off to harrods where victoria beckham was shopping, but didn't see her, just her car! then off to the science museum for a 3D shark IMAX movie, but it was kinda boring. i was disappointed. now off to heathrow to go home! booooooo see you tomorrow!... read more

We finally arrived in Weymouth in the evening after spending soooo long stuck going nowhere on the M25! We checked into the BnB and sorted our stuff out. Steve, Sandra and Jan arrived after us and we all headed to town for curry for dinner. We ate lots and lots of yummy curry, it was fairly late and everyone was exhausted from the long journey so instead of the planned pub crawl we went back to the BnB to bed! We woke and had cooked brekkie at 9am (oh my god I’m a veggie, what do I eat… lol). We then went for a walk along the sea front (getting sand blasted due to the high wind levels). We looked for a fridge magnet for Jan and eventually found one of the right level of ... read more
