On Sunday, as the weather was so good, Wayne came to pick me up on his Road King Harley Davidson (similar to picture) so that we could go for a spin. This would be the first time back on a bike (although pillion) since my accident in September. Leaving at ungodly hour of 6 am for flight at 11 am! Unfortunately, as got freebie tickets through airmiles have to go to Heathrow - what a pain! Everything went according to plan until Captain came on tanoy to explain that a bird had hit the part of the undercarriage which was now damaged. They had a replacement which had to be fixed with a large number of bolts. This took two hours to do whilst we were on the tarmac. Flight then took about an hour! Four of us went to see the movie, Sex and the City in the evening on Tuesday 3 June at Freeport, Braintree. Its bargin night so could afford to splash out on popcorn and a drink - but only just! On Sunday 18 May, thirteen of us went for a picnic in Thetford Forest, we each brought some food and had a fantastic spread. Following this eleven of us had booked to 'Go Ape', climbing rope ladders, swinging on tarazan swings into cargo nets and crawling though tunnels all high in the sky. At the end of February begining of March I went to Venice for a long weekend. Lovely hotel with little bridge to door (see picture), good breakfast, dry all weekend but got foggier and foggier throughout the weekend so when we went on the Ghost Tour one evening is was very 'Sherlock Holmes'! Got lost many times, only to eventually come out at St Marks Square again! Food was good but eatting or drinking on the Grand Canal was very expensive - £10 for two cans of drink! Seven of us from work decided to have a night out and went to' Sing-a-long sound of music'. Three of us made that extra effort and obtained costumes for the evening - all as nuns. Beforehand we went to Verde Pizza and Pasta place just up the road from the Civic Theatre for food. Lovely food but was all a bit rushed and we had to 'hot step it' down the road in our outfits, singing 'Nuns on the run . ....' Sunday 2 February 2008 we went to the Motorbike show at Excel with the biker gang. Fantastic time looking round all the stalls, sitting on as many bikes as could. Had a large sausage in a roll with a bottle of diet coke £6.25!!! Outrageous.... Continued to look round and queued up with an ice cream for the motorbike show. On Saturday the Diving Club organised a Treasure Hunt from Witham ending up at Woodham through the Dengie area. This was for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and our Diving Club. We were so lucky with the weather which was cold but dry. Four of us have been planning this event for some months, spending time in the area, compiling questions and the route. Got all dressed up for the evening, went to my good friends Wayne and Stella's for the New Year celebrations about ten of us in total. I made a yule log but came out as a mud slide but still quite edible. Stella and Wayne put on an excellent food spread but just so much food ... and drink to go round. Seven divers from the diving club attended the above course in Pimlico in London on the 8/9 December. Saturday leant how we learn, how to present, must have's within any presentation, STEP, PAVE, etc, etc. Then pool sessions going through skills and prepared for tomorrow. That evening went straight to Wayne and Stella's to prepare for our presentations, they fed and watered us, giving us pictures from the internet, coloured paper and pens to use.
