Planning and prep is well under way after it seemed that we were never going to book our flights! Following a couple of confusing visits to the travel agents we have settled on a departure date of 21st June from Heathrow to Toronto. If we’re lucky we’ll be reunited with our backpacks before setting off across Canada for 2 months. We’ll then spend a couple of weeks dodging hurricanes in Mexico and Costa Rica before starting our South American adventure through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. I’m sure we won’t be at all disappointed to leave after sampling the sizzling samba beats of the Rio Carnival to arrive back in wet wintry Wales in March 2009. So over the next couple of months there's loads to do: jabs to be had overtime to ... read more

We travelled from Uyuni by train overnight on 24th/25th December and walked the 3 km from the train station to the bus station (quality town planning - not!) in Oruro in the early hours of the morning. After getting ourselves on a bus leaving a few hours later to Santa Cruz we enjoyed another overnighter (17hours) and arrived bleary eyed at Residencial Bolivar in the heart of an eerily quiet Santa Cruz. Rich went for a quick Christmas 5 minutes snooze and surfaced 7 hours later while San took a walk around the deserted centre of town. The afternoon was spent topping up on Christmas spirit in one of the few bars and restaurants open followed by a spot of sightseeing amongst the many residents who had chosen to walk off their Christmas lunch/dinners. We ... read more

‘I was sitting, waiting, wishing’ Ok, so I guess this is the beginning! Its Tuesday the 26th September which is one calendar month away from the big day. Beijing!!! Its crazy…… the defining moment of realisation today was something simple. Well there were three that stand out but to begin I would like to mention and put a big shout out to my first Larium tablet (the anti malarial pill). Its funny because I have so many issues, as my family would know, about taking any type of tablet for any reason!! Christ I worry about taking two paracetimol instead of one for a head ache! This year alone I have had to take so many variations of pills I’m almost beginning to sound as though a rattle Hahaha. The craziness is that I think I ... read more

So behind my blogs that it seems to be a bit of a lost cause - however maybe if I make a little effort and spend bank holiday Sunday night on the computer you might slightly forgive me. Apologies also if your email is one of the 112 unread messages in my inbox (I am not kidding). Just chilling back in Essex - had a bit too much to drink last night, even got kicked out of a bar for being too drunk, and I was IN ESSEX!!! I must have been bad. Just trying to find a job at the moment. I have put my CV into a job about 2 hours away on the eastern coast, agent thinks It is promising, need some money to do some more travelling. I keep on looking at ... read more

Me and my Fiancé have handed in our notice with our current employers (Lloyds TSB), and are now getting ready for a round the world trip. We booked our tickets through STA Travel in Cardiff, South-Wales about 6 months ago. We purchased a "great escapade" ticket. We have plenty of partying left to do before we go though, and lots of goodbye's to say to everyone. Here's the itinerary:- - We start off by flying to Singapore for 2 weeks on the 30/01/2006. - We are then traveling over land to Phuket, Thailand for a 2 month stay in a Thai-Boxing camp. A place called Rawai Muay Thai Camp, e-mail "martnee@rawaimuaythai.com" if you are also interested in staying here. It comes highly recommended. - Then it's off to the capital of Thailand, Bangkok for 1 month ... read more
