Hi there! I have been UK for more than half a year. I am doing alright and I start getting used to the weather, food as well as the culture here. Everything here interests and fascinates me, especially the two host visits which make me know the British culture and their way of life better. Most importantly, we have developed a rapport friendships and is expected to keep up even when I go back to Hong Kong. You can see them in my personal journals.
My first host family, Mrs Lynne Munden and Mr. Edward Munden, is living in Shropshire. I spent 6 days with them and a Chinese student, Vincent, during the X'mas holiday. This couple is so kind that they taught me a lot of British cuisines and table manners. They also told me about the British culture, history and their experienceswhen they were young. During the X'mas day, their son Brian paid a visit to us and we together spent a nice evening in playing card games. This joyful and warm circumstance made me feel a home away from my home. It also quenched my nostalgia in this special day.
My second host is Mrs. Beatrice Clayre, a historian and archaeologist. I am proud of meeting such well-educated person in UK. During my 3-day stay in Easter, at Oxford, she took me to the historical sites such as prehistoric tomb "Waylands' Smithy", huge mysterious craving "White House Hill" and norman-style churches. She is an amazing and kind person and I will surely keep in touch with her.
Furthermore, my church life here is flourishing. I value every chance to get involved in church activities such as bible studies and volunteering, which add colours on my life in Cardiff.
