For those who don't know us we are Anne, Denise & Louise. Not content with one round the world trip we have decided to suspend normal life for 8 months to explore the wonders of the Americas. We will try our best to keep you updated with regular updates on this travel blog depending on internet access and the flow of creative juices!
Update:
I (Louise) haven't been able to travel due to having a virus just before departure date which led to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. So little did I know how apt our profile picture & name would be when setting up this blog. As Lou turns her back Anne, D have gone and travelled to the Americas, only problem is I will have to wait until March 2009 to turn around again to see Anne, D in the wheelchair as if nothing has happened. If you've never seen Little Britain you won't get the reference and are probably thinking how fugly we are.
Another Udate:
Anne & Denise will probably be back early and hopefully in time for Christmas. Meanwhile, I have set up another blog to showcase my poetic recollections of our travels in 2002/03. It's not finished yet though. The link is

Hi Guys! Louise had hoped to have joined us by this stage in the trip but after many emotional emails we found out that she was still not well enough. We were both really gutted as we had gotten our hopes up. BUMMA!!! We arrived in Calgary late, had to take a local bus, followed by a city train. Wandering around trying to find our hostel a man stopped us and told us not to carry on heading in the direction we had chosen because it was dangerous at night. He asked us where we were headed and he pointed us in the right direction for our hostel (man had we picked a dodgy spot to stay). We woke up to a few drunks/homeless people sitting under some trees outside our window. We wandered to the

This was probably down to the fact that I had postponed my flight to the 15th July and again had a date to focus on and look forward to. As I couldn’t change the destination of my flight, the plan was to fly to Toronto, stay 1 night and get a flight the next day to Ottawa to meet up with the girls, just in time to experience the Rockies a few days later. Although I really wanted to see Niagara Falls & visit Montreal, I consoled myself with the fact that I would have the

After a 3 hour drive and a 15 hour coach journey we arrived in Quebec City at 3.25am, KNACKERED! Slept in a hostel until 10am, had to check out at 11am because it was fully booked the following night. We discovered it was the 400th year of

Part of the trip included a wine tasting session we tried the red the white then the Canadian delicacy 'iced wine' which is locally called (liquid gold) sweet and tasty, YUM! We did the maid of the mist and got soaked despite the poncho's provided. This is a boat that goes really close to the falls, you don't see much of the falls cos of the fierce spray, but well worth doing a brilliant experience. We walked closer to the falls to get a better view. At this point realisation kicked in "OMG we're actually in Canada" it's a

It was a long day arriving at our hostel Canadiana Backpackers Inn at 4am British time. Anne found it a bit strange getting into dorm life, freaking slightly about the creaking beds and waking herself up snoring and potentially waking others. Dee being awoken by another dorm buddy coughing all night. Despite our restless night's sleep we managed to drag ourselves out of bed for (our free) pancakes and tea at 9am, YUM YUM! We booked an extra 3 nights as we liked the ambience of the hostel so much. We picked a good time to be in Toronto as loads of festivals seem to be a OCCURING. 1st day we walked into a Nautical

Did they drink a toast to an absent friend on the plane? Did Denise go through with her idea to shave her head to save time when getting ready and to make her luggage weigh less by not carrying shampoo/conditioner and a hairdryer? (mad woman)! Did Anne go for the luggage with wheels or the classic backpack and more importantly did she fit everything in? Is Niagara Falls as spectacular in real life as on the TV? There are plenty more things going around in my head but I won’t bore you. Sorry to disappoint those of you who thought that this may have

My preparations have been seriously hampered by being ill for the past month and even though it looked like I was getting better last week, I’ve had a set back and have made the sensible, but gut-wrenching decision not to fly to Toronto on Saturday with Anne & Denise. Although, I am hoping to join them in a few weeks, depending on my recovery and the

Following a couple of confusing visits to the travel agents we have settled on a departure date of 21st June from Heathrow to Toronto. If we’re lucky we’ll be reunited with our backpacks before setting off across Canada for 2 months. We’ll then spend a couple of weeks dodging hurricanes in Mexico and Costa Rica before starting our South American adventure through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. I’m sure we won’t be at all disappointed to leave after sampling the sizzling samba beats of the Rio Carnival to arrive back in wet wintry Wales in March 2009. So over the next couple of months there's loads to do: jabs to be had overtime to
