Ok we are off to Caerleon . Our camper stop book tells us that there is a good night stop in the town so off we set . The drive back over the Severn was not the most brilliant . The rain picked up and splattered Gabbys windscreen . The metronomic rhythym of the wipers broke the silence . We had not expected to be driving even more miles today. More miles of stop and start . Things had not improved going the opposite direction . Nor had the lateness of the day improved it by one jot . We did though eventually get to the Severn crossing . The new bridge named after the Prince of Wales . An iconic bridge with a bit of a history . No-one particularly wanted it named after an ... read more

British Tour – Highlights - Blog II The principle reason for visiting the UK was to travel to Newport, Wales to honour our friend’s late uncle who had been a Medical Doctor in Wales and who participated in the founding of a hospice in that area. Before the day of the plaque unveiling and while in the area we took the opportunity to visit Cardiff Castle and Tredegar house. Using the British Rail system, we travelled across the country to Norwich where we ended our stay in England. Once again, the principle reason for visiting the area was to visit with relatives; our friend’s sister, and one of my cousins. Our accommodation for our four day stay in the city was at the Maid’s Head Hotel, which has been in existence since the late 1200’s. Norwich ... read more

Leaving behind the idea of Paris being the ville de l'amour (city of love) myself and a large group of friends crammed an amazing cosmopolitan culture experience into four days. Staying in a perfect location on the Champs Elysees, famous landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre were a stones throw away. From the hustle and bustle of the chic shopping and busy brasseries on the Champs Elysees you can take a short taxi journey to the 4th arr where you can really soak up the architecture and declare your love with a lock and key on the Pont De l'Archeveche. The first Sunday of every month there is free entry into the Louvre, but beware, you will need a whole day to really appreciate the museum in all its glory (and fight ... read more

well, my dear readers, this is most certainly your lucky day. Not only shall I regale you with reports from two different trips, but from two different countries !!!!! I know, the excitement is so much, that your correspondent has had to resort to cider, while Cusco has had to go for a lie down just thinking about it - certainly a tough life being a spaniel. The first adventure in this blog, takes us from the relative safety of Dorset, to the wild, untamed land that is called Hampshire, home of Portsmouth but thankfully, we were situated in a campsite near Fordingbridge called Sandy Balls. Now, many people have accused your correspondent of being cruel at choosing such a campsite so soon after Cusco had been castrated, but as previously mentioned - certainly a tough ... read more

First ever blog post! We should probably start by saying that we haven't had the best luck in the run up to this trip with much anguish and stress caused (mostly to Rach because Tom is a "cool character" R.Pearson, 2012)! Two and a half weeks before we were meant to leave Tom had a minor rugby related mishap resulting in several tendons being torn of the back of his knee, followed by an operation and several weeks of sitting with his foot up and not able to do an awful lot, so plans had to be changed. Rach a.k.a. Archie (name chosen by Bella Morgan aged 18months) is about to set off in few days time, if her passport comes back in time from the Vietnamese Embassy (just another thing that could potentially go wrong!!) ... read more

In the summer of 2010 I went on an adventure. With no available companions and very little funding I made a decision to set off alone from South Wales in order to, wander Normandy during the annual D-Day memorial services, spectate the awe of the world famous Le Mans 24hr endurance race and then to Southern France where I would bask in the glitz and glamour that is Monaco. Preparations began around May time, in my home town of Newport, South Wales. As a student at Coventry University on summer break, that would not conclude until early October, I had a lot of free time ahead. The idea of working for the entirety of the following three months was not an option. I had to think of things to do. I had landed a job for ... read more

We're all packed up, well, for the most part, and we're ready to go. We fly on Monday to Kathmandu and then will head off into the mountains after two days at a pre-booked hotel. Normally we just show up at these places, so it seems as though we're getting old now that we're pre-booking accommodation. It will have to stop. We'll be updating this blog again as we go, whererever it is possible, and hopefully, if the internet connections are decent, we'll upload some pictures. See you at the end of the year!... read more

Well, it’s been 3 weeks since I was meant to be on that flight to Toronto with Anne & Denise and I’ve got to say that I’ve been surprised at how well I’ve coped with the disappointment of not going. This was probably down to the fact that I had postponed my flight to the 15th July and again had a date to focus on and look forward to. As I couldn’t change the destination of my flight, the plan was to fly to Toronto, stay 1 night and get a flight the next day to Ottawa to meet up with the girls, just in time to experience the Rockies a few days later. Although I really wanted to see Niagara Falls & visit Montreal, I consoled myself with the fact that I would have the ... read more

Saturday came and went and I can’t believe that I am still in Wales, led on my sofa pondering. When will I get better? Did Anne & D make it to Toronto? Did they drink a toast to an absent friend on the plane? Did Denise go through with her idea to shave her head to save time when getting ready and to make her luggage weigh less by not carrying shampoo/conditioner and a hairdryer? (mad woman)! Did Anne go for the luggage with wheels or the classic backpack and more importantly did she fit everything in? Is Niagara Falls as spectacular in real life as on the TV? There are plenty more things going around in my head but I won’t bore you. Sorry to disappoint those of you who thought that this may have ... read more

With less than a week to go, I have faced many dilemmas. · Whether to start watching Big Brother knowing that I won’t be able to see the whole series. · Whether to have malaria tablets with possible side effects of psychotic/suicidal thoughts or a skin rash that’s sensitive to sunlight. · But more seriously I have had to make a decision on whether to actually fly out on Saturday. My preparations have been seriously hampered by being ill for the past month and even though it looked like I was getting better last week, I’ve had a set back and have made the sensible, but gut-wrenching decision not to fly to Toronto on Saturday with Anne & Denise. Although, I am hoping to join them in a few weeks, depending on my recovery and the ... read more
