A member of the EU, it chose to remain outside the Economic and Monetary Union for the time being. Constitutional reform is also a significant issue in the UK. The Scottish Parliament, the National Assembly for Wales, and the Northern Ireland Assembly were established in 1999, but the latter is suspended due to bickering over the peace process.

Well, it’s been 3 weeks since I was meant to be on that flight to Toronto with Anne & Denise and I’ve got to say that I’ve been surprised at how well I’ve coped with the disappointment of not going. DILEMMAS

With less than a week to go, I have faced many dilemmas. · Whether to start watching Big Brother knowing that I won’t be able to see the whole series. · Whether to have malaria tablets with possible side effects of psychotic/suicidal thoughts or a skin rash that’s sensitive to sunlight. · But more seriously I have had to make a decision on whether to actually fly out on Saturday. Travel Guide Overload

Planning and prep is well under way after it seemed that we were never going to book our flights! Following a couple of confusing visits to the travel agents we have settled on a departure date of 21st June from Heathrow to Toronto. If we’re lucky we’ll be reunited with our backpacks before setting off across Canada for 2 months. All the walking has taken its toll...!

We travelled from Uyuni by train overnight on 24th/25th December and walked the 3 km from the train station to the bus station (quality town planning - not!) in Oruro in the early hours of the morning. After getting ourselves on a bus leaving a few hours later to Santa Cruz we enjoyed another overnighter (17hours) and arrived bleary eyed at Residencial Bolivar in the heart of an eerily quiet Santa Cruz. The big approach

‘I was sitting, waiting, wishing’ Ok, so I guess this is the beginning! Its Tuesday the 26th September which is one calendar month away from the big day. Beijing!!!
