In September of 2005 i was asked to go on a trip to Thailand that to be honest i thought was a place id never see. Making this trip with the person i did made my life what it is today!! im on the road and am loving every minute of it! Im having the time of my life and i want no body to worry about me any more!! I love you all tonnes....... Now more about me!!!
im a half english half irish brummy and my name is Niki Maguire....... on the 26th of october 2006 i left the miserable United Kingdom in search of something better to do! the plans dragged me through China where i met so many great people (Hi to Dave, Tim, Sonya, Harris, Cara and Ashley) leaving them behind to travel through Vietnam with one of my closest friends in the world! From Vietnam i spent The new year in Siem reap Cambodia looking at the great old Angkor Wat! Cambodia sent me through Laos (mostly in the southern Districts) where i toured by motorbike and met some cracking people (Hi especially to Steve, Phillippe, Mongnous, Fiona and Christine) My final Destination was various areas of Thailand where i was greeted by my best mate and his girlfriend Pierre and April! These two made the perfect end to the perfect 4 months in Asia! Big Hi to my favourite Diving Buddy Lucy who i might add is the bestest buddy in the world... Roll on the next Dive you!!
The second Chapter of my travels left me sleeping in terminals on the floor and waiting for hours upon hours to get to the Land down under!! Australia! I rocked up broke.. $15 to my name and a for the first few weeks i struggled by being introduced to Jager Bombs supplimented by some of my now closest mates.. Cheers Brett, Rob, Fiona, Jane, Jake and Dougy. After working my ass off for the last Six months i have managed to uphold a lease on a unit in Central Darwin and am nearly over my fear of Creepy Crawlies. Ive got to thank some guys for making my time on Melville island as a land evaluation officer great. Cheers to Rob, Sean, Matty, Sabo, Romeo, Chriss (Doctor Karl Kennedy), Little Nicky Mitchell, Terra and Flem. By the end of September i will be leaving the Grand city of Darwin in search of ocean that is safe to swim in. Bring on the East coast.
The east coast bought many a delight in my direction. After we lost our van our travels were joined by the trusty old Greyhound bus which took us in all variations from Tennant creek to Melbourne stopping in at the likes of Portdouglas where i said good bye to Brett (cheers for everything lad), Cairnes, Innisfail, Mission Beach, Townsville and Magnetic island, Whitsunday islands, The old town of 1770 and the Frasier coast. A quick pitt stop to see an old friend In brisbane put me on a plane and into the arms of a family unit in Sydney. Too much fun was had in the 6 months this trip took out of my life and the people to thank are in the followin. All of the Family, Bernard, Liz, Greg and Sam with all of the other guys that i was introduced to. My friend and close ones who travelled with me also are thanked and they are Lewy, Anne, Kim, Richard, Katie, Will and Ed. All the guys from the bondi house, Kev, Mark and Jamie. cheers lads. and then the Scottish crew and the english guys at the Manly set up.. Greg, Jade, Vic, Sam Josh, Jen and Sarah you lot were ledgends. I thank Nikki for the Jack johnson Gig utterly as that was a mental time for me and thank you to Marg Greham and Brett for setting me up for the trip that continues after Sydney. From sydney i went to party with some of the old guys in my stories which was great but after a week of drinking decided its time to head way out west. well pretty much to the edge. Im off to see my Cousin Chris and all me good mates from Darwin.
The west coast changed my life for the better. After spending a great three weeks with my cousin chris and 'Jane MATE' in perth i figured living wise.. things there would not work out. the jobs were up north. So on a plane i jump and off to Broome we go!! Landing in a climate like broome holds is a killer compared to the south. Darwin was the Last place i felt this kind of heat. A month in a backpackers put me to my 1 year address... 385a cable beach caravan park. THE TENT. Big cheers to all of the lads i met and lived with up there. Hugh, Jamie, Nicolass, Anto wild one... and many others throughout the year. Great times. During the year up in Broome, i ventured over to Thailand again to complete my dive training. i met up with my old mucka Pierre and we dived together again... got to see a whale shark which was perfect for us both. i stayed on after they left to study for my divemasters. all completed i flew back to broome with a new pair of gills and a taste for island life. cash saved... 6 months graft... i'm on a plane back to koh tao. my lost land.
i headed out to Koh Tao once again. seems i am drawn to this place. i studied, i passed and now i am an open Water Scuba Instructor. for 15 months i interned with New way diving making it to joint head specialty Instructor. Met Casey... Taught my Father and Mother to dive as well as many great friends. It got too warm, we bolted and found house and Home in Christchurch New Zealand. until the Shaking began. We were hit by two earthquakes whilst in New Zealand so with the danger of being hurt ever present we have decided to head to a warmer climate. Bali. look out for the next chapter!
maybe we can hook up for a beer and see a brummy get well plastered....... we will have to stay tuned!! If we have met already at home..... you are great and im thinking of you always. if we have met on this great adventure keep the emails coming and the plans fresh....... ill be close behind if not already there!!! Current mood: Feeling sore Well well well... Hows it going to all of you out there loving life right now? I hope well. For me... Indonesia is making me feel like i am on top of the world. In fact, i am. Where to start? i guess where i left off. So Yeah.. we were in the Gilli's snorkeling with 8 turtles at a time, Supping Bintang and chowing down Urap Urap whilst trying to hide from the doom stare coming across the ocean from Lombok. Rinjani was certainly a feat for out thoughts let alone our bodies when deciding to give up the beach life for a little trek time. and some trek it turned out to be. Leaving the Gilli's wasn't so hard for us. it was almost a welcomed break from the beach

Up early for our departure, we got to see little Beema before he left for school and have a bite to eat with Kenya and Weta before we had to say goodbye. Walking from that Home stay (Made Inn) was actually like leaving home. i felt honestly upset. they had been great to us. Thank you Both and we will see you again soon. Waving from the boat as we drift out to the open sea i hear a bang. I thought someone had fallen from the boat but casey ( as she was jumping out of the boat window to scramble to the top) shouts "THE BOAT IS ON

Last Wednesday which would have been the 10th or so we left Kuta in search of tranquility and oh my Buddha did we find it. Jumping on your typical hot, Asian, sweat fest Bus we made for Sanur where we were to catch our Ferry to my newest destination, Nusa Lembongan. Nusa Lembongan is set just to the south west of Bali and is a lovely 1 hour boat ride across. the boat was a type of Catamaran but no Lumpraya that many of my friends know well. This is a wooden version with all of the features you expect in South Eastern Asian Travel (pigs, Chickens and

Will the Bintang get the better of me? Will the good old Nasi Goerang Ayam be the cure? read on and find out. So Casey and i are out. We have finally escaped the Shaking city of Christchurch, unfortunately leaving some great friends behind. I would like to say a big thank you and great buzz to Ciaran, and the very super Kate (Panda Girl) we wish you guys the best and its a shame you couldnt come with us. For all of those Lads at Allied i met especially Ramon aka Prince and the almighty Gerry thanks for all of the help and the

Many reasons why i stopped writing but the main reason is that, all i have been doing on my travels is working and the jobs haven't been that interesting to bore you day in and day out with mundane descriptions of how i moved a piano or how dirty the toilet was that i had to clean. Yes my friends i have slumped from the Instructor of the Seas to the room attendant in a holiday inn to the furniture removalist for Allied Pickford. The Latter wasn't actually that bad. So where to begin, and how did i ever arrive to the decision of heading out to
