Right, so paying for the hostel was pretty pointless last night. Met up with Tony around 2 in St Andrew's Square, and then we went back to his place so he could toss his whites into the wash so they'd be clean for today. Met his flatmate, Irish bloke also named Tony, and in typical Irish fashion, absolutely piss drunk and cuddling his can of Guiness (vomit). Headed back into the city and then spent a while wandering around, playing tourist around the Royal Mile. That was fun, though it would have been nicer if he didn't feel the need to talk quite so much. Tried in vain to find a Lloyds so I could take out the money for WIS tomorrow, but couldn't find one. Whatever. Will find one later on today. Went through Mary ... read more

Well it’s almost been a month now that I’ve been away and it really doesn’t seem that long but the amount of things that I have seen and done is just amazing!! Let’s see where did I leave off? May 7th Started off the day leaving Liverpool for 3 nights in Manchester. Started raining pretty bad so that gave me time to get everything settled. Its funny how you meet all these amazing people in the hostels and you will probably never meet them ever again. I have been meeting people from all over and with so many people it’s hard to remember all their names. The "Fat" chick (inside joke) from Singapore, the hot nurse from Vancouver, the Indian girl from Pennsylvania, the 2 Auzzie Civil Engineers, the 2 annoying Irish guys, the 2 that ... read more

Early morning today, up at 6:30, ready and on the first bus out of Rannoch, 7:30am sharp. Had a good chat with Russell on the drive out, always nice. He's an interesting character. Got my ticket to Edinburgh, and then got to sit in Baker's Oven for about an hour, as I JUST missed the first train into the city. Always works that way. Rannoch has this ability to screw everything up without even trying. It's talented like that. The guy sitting across from me on the train was...well, ok, there's no way around it, he was a freak. Freaky, freaky man. Why do they always sit with me? Why can't they sit with someone else? Maybe I need to work on being/looking less Canadian and thus friendly and approachable....maybe that's it. Anyway, he has these ... read more

Hens and stags galore in Edinburgh there were loads of us, having said it was still a pretty fun weekend. We went clubbing both nights, Friday night we had the delight of a stripper for the Hen, and on the Saturday some of us didn't get in until 6am!!! Crazy, haa ha. For anyone that has never been to Edinburgh it is beautiful, go as soon as you can, you really don't need longer than a weekend. I had the most amazing massage at the One Spa which I think is part of the Sheraton. Well reccommended for family trips, romantic weekends, or a girly weekend - the shopping isn't great but I am comparing it to London so don't listen to that part. Enjoy the pics!... read more

The Beltane, A festival celebrating the beginning of the sumemr season, and the upcomming harvest. The fire Festival is an old Pegan ceremony that has been preformed in the United Kingdon for thousands of years. Allthough now it has become more modern as time goes by, the down-to-earth vibe still flows throught the spring breeze. The preformance of the beltane goes as follows: So there is the Queen of the Beltane, who represents the sun, the giver of life, and there is the King who represents the growth of the Earth. Every Beltane (April 30th) the king , who is dressed as a large shrub, its torn apart and killed, and a new king is born and starts to grow. The Queen and the Old King lead a parade starting at the old Roman pillars and ... read more

In Scotland this month is a special festival called Triptych. So in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, there is tones of great musicians and artists from all over the world comeing to preform. Buck 65 is one of the artists, he is playing at my work tonight, followed by some rasta men from Jamaica who are putting on a Ragae show. I seen an old group called the Sun Ra Arkestra the other night. I had never heard of them until this festival, but suposedly they have quite the background. The original Sun Ra was at his career highlight in the 60's. Him and his Jazz band we all from "Saturn". In order to be apart of the Sun Ra familly, you were to have come from Saturn too. So it was this cult band that live ... read more

I'm going to have a Did you know? moment. No matter where you are in Scotland you’re always 200 or so km from the sea. Built on seven hills including a volcano, Edinburgh is gorgeous. Even though I woke up feeling the worse ever so far on this trip, I managed to get myself to the Castle. It was expensive to get in (C$20) but was just well enough to walk around and enjoy the view of the highlands, which are a must see. I climbed up Arthur’s seat (a mound) and really soaked in the view while clearing my sinuses thanks to Sudafed. First rookie mistake I made while traveling is getting sick my first few nights. Second blunder was waiting so long to get medicated. Anyways, that night I went on the Mercat Ghost ... read more
