After leaving Glasgow we took the train to Edinburgh. Again, we didn't spend much time in Edinburgh because we wanted to get to St. Andrews before dark, but we did walk around the city a little. Glasgow and Edinburg are both places that I would love to visit again, but unfortunately on this trip there just wasn't enough time to see much.... read more

So Edinburgh...I have been living here for 6 months now. The first day I arrived here, I walked around the city in aww. Every Building here tells a story, and has a past, and radiates a strong energy. So I moved here with out planning on it at all. I had hooked up a job in a small country town outside of Oxford, England. When I arrived to Cuddesdon, I straight away realized that this was NOT the place for me. It was a very religous, and old fogie town. I was to be working at the only business in town, which was a bed and breakfast. The only employees there that were not locals, were 2 South African couples that had been living there for over a year, and they were all friends back home. ... read more

The last week has been pretty fun on the pretext that it's "Kim's last week in Edinburgh!" I've met some really cool and fun people so it's been nice. Wednesday night was full of Popscene-like dancing which was awesome. I scare people with my dancing in foreign countries just like I do at home. I went for a walk along the Water of Leith path and I really enjoyed it. It's beautiful in a disturbing and depressing way. All my walking around Edinburgh this week has made me fall in love with it all over again. Everywhere you look is something amazing and I cannot even tell you how much I love the sky here. I probably could have stayed here longer, but if you don't move quick you don't move at all. It's way too ... read more

I've decided to leave Edinburgh. I'm going to go travel around Ireland with a friend for about two weeks and most likely come back to Scotland when I'm done doing that. I'm leaving next Friday and I'm really excited that I'm going to be travelling again. Everyone says Ireland is beautiful so I can't wait to see it! I think I'll return to Scotland after Ireland and try to settle myself down somewhere different. I'm not sure if I am going to go to Glasgow or try a small town in the highlands or on an island. I love the fact that I'm not tied down to any one thing and can just pick myself up and leave whenever I feel like it. Weee!!11... read more

We made it to Edinburgh yesterday after a trecherous ride on the plane. The winds were so strong we were afraid we wouldn't make it. We checked into our cute B&B and headed into town to do a bit of sightseeing. Edinburgh was much different than I thought. Much smaller, which is a good thing. All the buildings are traditional English style homes and all grey. The only thing that distinguishes them are the shop signs. This morning we started off with a traditional Scottish breakfast, which was great except that it was missing the black pudding that I am used to in Ireland. Then we took the bus into the city to visit the Edinburgh Castle. The Castle dominates the city and is the country's main tourist attraction and has played a central role in ... read more

I got a job in a deli. It's only part time so I also spend a lot of my time cleaning the hostel I live in so that I don't have to pay. I kind of want to leave Edinburgh cuz its not making me really, really happy and being really, really happy is my goal. I know I need to give it a little more time though, so I will do that, and hopefully everything will be lovely. And if its not, I'll pick up and move myself somewhere else. Not having a real home is so rad. It's hard to believe I've been out of school for a whole year now. The last year went by so fast! I can't believe I was working at Jones and Stokes a year ago. It doesn't seem ... read more

I seem to have moved myself into a hostel. I just walked in there expecting to stay a night and now I'll probably be there for a while. It's quite nice and the people are great. I worked for four hours cleaning on Saturday and earned myself two nights stay. I'm gonna have to do cleaning once a week. Yep. Anyways, I've been sick since I got to Edinburgh, so I've spent the weekend sitting around trying to get better. Still not better... I hope I feel well soon so that I can wander and FEEL the awesomeness.... read more

I spent the last five days in Glasgow. I liked it a lot. It's not beautiful like it is here in Edinburgh, but it is really cool. The people there were very friendly and actually Scottish (unlike here). There is a huge student culture there. Lots and lots of unpretentious good music and arts. I really enjoyed that. All the Glaswegians told me that Edinburgh is shite and that I should stay in Glasgow and I almost agree heh. On the bus to Edinburgh today, I decided I was actually starting to feel things again. Lately I've been sooo ambivalent about things and can't say things with conviction (and I hate it!). Always being surrounded by passionate people leaves me feeling like I have nothing to love. I'm never unhappy, but I'm never really happy either. ... read more
