Today was a day of sightseeing and double decker tour buses. There are stops for these buses all around London and as long as you know which color tour you’re on, you can get on and off at any of these stops. We got off to look at Westminister Abbey and to look at St. Paul’s Cathedral, which were both really cool, old buildings. The architecture was incredible; Westminister Abbey looked like Hogwarts! :) At Westminister Abbey, they had all the old kings and queens buried, along with different writers like Charles Dickens and other famous people that I’d actually heard of! Then of course Caroline had to spill her coke all over the benches where the monks sat thousands of years ago. And at St. Paul’s Cathedral, we climbed 878 stairs. (Yes, we counted.) ... read more

So today Izzy and I went through town and had a lovely date at Fornum and Masons! It's a lovely tea room and I got to have chocolate cake. I was so nice and romantic. Of course, while the date was the main reason we went into town, we both had work related reasons. Izzy had an interview and I stopped in at the gallery. Actually, it's quite funny because I went to Izzy'd interview with him (very casual, it was in a Pub). I love his boss! Jamie is a wondeful girl about 28 from new yorkl! She and I got on very well, and we chatted about her wedding and Heather's wedding after the interview. I know Izzy is really excited that we hit it off because he got the job! As for me, ... read more

Quick note, I messed this one up a little bit. I didn't realize how to add photos to these so I did it wrong. It will be corrected on future ones, I just don't feel like doing it now. Check out the gallery site, you will like what I put. I promise this will be fixed in the future. Alright, now the chronology of what is going down. It all began on Tuesday, the 19th with a lovely breakfast at Kirby Lane. I was then whisked away to the airport and things immediately got interesting. There was apparantly great fear that I would use a bottle of Rudy's BBQ Sause to hijack or take down the airplane. This, in my mind, is just foolish Texas pride gone very, very wrong. I know that the sause is ... read more

With only a day to go, it was time to say Au Revoir to my friends. Luckily I didn't have to do a thing. Actually very lucky as at the time my house was a mass of boxes from packing and involved a full scale mountaineering expedition to cross the room!!!!. So it was wonderful to turn up at Toni and Andy place for a BBQ and a wonderful spread of food to send me on my way. Even though the heavens opened as soon as the BBQ was lit, it didn't dampen the spirit just the chef. I had a wonderful evening and was so lovely to totally forgot the packing that still had to be done. Lots of food and one wonderful handmade cake (again by Toni), a Bon Voyage card with an ... read more

England is a strange kind of home-coming. We were looking forward to reaching the British Isles for the relative ease of travelling in a country whose primary language is English and the cultural divide is easily navigable. So much of our national heritage (and my husband's personal heritage) is derived from the Mother Country that it has been fascinating for me (Dee) to actually see it at last. However, there have been a few surprises. Northern England seemed to be overflowing with floral prints, wall papered rooms, and bone china. I mean, I expected it, but it was still a surprise when it arrived in such unapologetic abundance. Nice, but slightly creepy. The first B&B we arrived at served us a huge pot of tea on a tray in the lounge. I had flash-backs to our ... read more
