After another long day of class we went to the British Museum. It was so incredibly big. Everybody was so tired so it made it more difficult to walk around the building. Also, the boring teacher decided to be our own personal tour guide. He always says he will only talk for 5 minutes and ends up talking for 30. The one major thing I wanted to make sure I saw was the Egypt exhibit. I definitely got to see the mummies which was AMAZING! We only saw a few other rooms; I really wish we could have seen more. We might go back but who knows. We had to leave to get to our walking tour of the area around the Globe Theater. We ate at a cute little pub right on the Thames ... read more

From the train station in London I went to book the same hotel I started with from the beginning. The holiday inn near the airport. I really just packed my things and watched tv and online. And talk on the phone til it was 1:45pm. I then knew I had to get on a taxi to the airport. Check my bags in which will take a while. And get on the flight back to America. ... read more

Very brief posting this time as I am in a pay by the minute internet cafe next to a gay bookstore. London, you are a lady. So, I made it safe and am having an interesting time in the smallest hotel room I have ever seen. Now I must go find food before I commit homicide. Love you all. Jim... read more

Right. I am home. This will be very very brief. This is not a "travel"blog, it is a "home"blog. San Francisco was great fun. Pirates, Golden Gate, Chowder, Bikes, Alcatraz, Trams; standard but awesome fun. Just wanted to say I hope you all (well some, not bothered really) enjoyed reading/deleting my blogs. I liked writing them. My photos (about 2000) are currently being edited to Best Of. When that's done I will do Best Of Best Of. This is likely to be a more managable size to show people. I will then show you them when I see you. I know...you literally can't wait. Now. The main point of this homeblog is to tell you a short story about a frisbee. Alex and I were given a frisbee before we left the UK. This frisbee travelled ... read more

We had another amazing day in London today. We stared the morning with a trip to Moss Bros and Jon is now the proud new owner of a morning coat. It turned out that it was a better deal to buy the suit than to rent it. So, if he shows up to a party with a crazy British suit on don't be surprised. Then we came back to the hotel and got dressed up for afternoon tea at the Ritz. Tea at the Ritz is another thing that you need to experience at least once in your lifetime. If you go make sure to book well in advance. There was not an empty table in the most elegant tearoom. Jon and I had the perfect table in the center of the room which was ... read more

Well, things are finally coming together. I think we are both really ready to go, its just the last minute stuff left to do. The house looks like a mess with packing boxes all over but by the end of next week everything will be in storage and we'll be living off takeaways and kindness! Spent last night at the village festival wine tasting.......yes, last night. Thunder, lightning, torrential rain and we were in a marquee under a big tree. England at its finest! It was great to catch up with people and grab their emails so we can keep in touch. Though enough alcohol was drunk that I'm not sure how well I copied down details. There's a parade on Saturday and a fete so I'll be down there taking photos to show people what ... read more

I leave in four and a half days. Four and a half days? How has it come up so fast and I've not even noticed? I'm still in my hometown, Oxford, and busy preparing, visiting friends and relatives, doing a few days work for a slice of money before I go. This post is in part a test as I've never used this site before but also a glimpse of the beginning of this adventure I suppose. As of now, I can't decide if I'm disorganised or not. I think it's more a case of casual organisation that leads everything to fall into place at the last minute. I haven't packed, in fact I don't have half the things to pack yet. I'm going to London tomorrow to buy those and also pick up my ... read more

Class allllll day long today. For whatever reason the classes are ridiculously boring to me and I can never keep my eyes open. The literature portion of the class is interesting but still drags on forever. We went to see Stomp today. I thought it was so cool. The performance lasted about 2 hours. It was really entertaining but some parts could have been shorter. Some of the objects they used to put together songs were so random. It makes me wish I had ANY sense of rhythm hah. A few of us got really tired after the performance and decided to call it an early night. We have a couple field trips tomorrow so maybe I'll actually get a good night sleep. More than likely thought I will be on the computer until 1 anyways ... read more
