The Golfing Bucket List of World Top 100 Courses Continues Wednesday 29 May – Golf at Swinley Forest Golf Club. What a start to the day – Awoke to a screaming fire alarm at 7.30am. Ran out the door half dressed – GG clutching his shoes and looking for his man bag, arrived in the foyer with all the other guests all looking as stunned as we were. When the alarms ceased we were told that a guest had sprayed the bathroom heavily with deodorant and that had set off the alarms – well I guess the good thing was that it proved the alarms worked but it was a mad am start. Off to Swinley Forest Golf Club located in Great Windsor Park at Ascot – yes the big racing centre and there were lots ... read more

The World Top 100 Bucket List continues - Thursday 30 May – Golf at St Georges Hill Golf Club. Well this was one of the courses that we were both really intrigued by and so looking forward to playing. When we saw it on the World Top 100 list and then looked at the website we were amazed that they allowed visitors at the club to play the course it looked so private. We arrived at a very serious Check Point Charlie type entrance, spoke to a lovely guard who checked our booking, photographed our car number plate and then opened the gates for us. Wow what a world exists behind these gates. A beautiful community of gardens, private roads, mansions and woodlands – as we followed the road around we then came upon a clubhouse ... read more

We arrived in UK on Friday and since then, we have been shopping for staples and catching up with various family. There is a killing to be made here as Easyjet are only charging £10.00 odd for a 25 kilo extra cases. We packed and repacked all the suitcases this morning ready for our flight home tomorrow. All that was not packed was our clothes for tomorrow and the toiletries so we could freshen up tonight. Our final visit this trip was to George´s cousin. He has very kindly taken in some items for us that we could not get delivered to Tenerife. A coffee and some cake there and we were on our way to the London Gatwick airport. It is still pretty cold here so tomorrow, we are looking forward very much to returning ... read more

On Thursday, after a slow start with a late breakfast, Jean, Ron and I went out to do some grocery shopping. After Jo finished work at 1:30, she came over to pick up Jean and I to take us out for dumplings at Wing Yip in Purley. This is a very big restaurant, with a grocery store beside it. It specialises in dumplings like our yum cha, which they sell until 3pm, and they also have an a la carte menu. As it was a very late lunch, we bought a soup home for our tea that night. Friday morning was spent in the house, playing with Oscar the one-eyed cat and watching birds in the garden and squirrel outside the conservatory. As it was my final day on Friday, we decided to go out for ... read more

On Friday, we had to be off the boat by 9am so we were all up early to clear out the boat and finish packing by that time. A taxi took us from the boat to Beziers Train station for the 12:11-13:41 train to Toulouse-Matabiau train station. From there, we squeezed into a taxi for Toulouse Blagnac Airport for the 5:15pm EasyJet flight to London Gatwick Airport. London is an hour behind France so we landed at just after 6pm local time and a car service picked me up to take me to Jean and Ron’s house in Surrey, where I am staying for the next week. I arrived about 7:30pm and Jean had cooked a potato pie for our dinner so we sat and chatted before dinner, catching up on all our news. Saturday has ... read more

Good morning from grey Epsom- but very green Epsom!! Haylie's first comment was: 'your grass is so nice and green'. Believe me - they don't spend any time watering it ? Cape Town was just amazing and I was blown away by the effort my friend Marzanne went through to see us and spoil us. But as always- the time is just too short. We tried to do a few sites but Lexie was not well and I ended up taking her to a dr and as expected- she had a shocking ear infection. I was reluctant to take antibiotics but wow - they do work when used correctly. She back to her cheeky self. My parents are well- as well as they can be I think. The kids did not warm to them straight away ... read more

Oh what a lovely day both Melanie and I have had! We started by going to church in my old school, another trip down memory lane, they've built a junior school building in front where the playground used to be, but apart from that was the same. It's was really cool, as the first time I felt God call me was in the playground here, but I had no idea how to go about it (knowing more) was to shy to ask anyone and left it.... So it was like going back to my 'God' roots! The service was nice, but not what I'm used to.... I love to sing it loud and wiggle about with my hands in the air praising God... Yes I do! The weather has improved and the sun is shining and ... read more

What a wonderful Thursday evening at lovely friends Charlotte and Tony (where Mel and Kurt have been staying), with Peter and Margaret and the four of us in Witney. A lovely end to a great week. Friday morning we all 4 had our final breakfast together with Peter and Margarets, before Mel and I headed off to the coach station. We really can't express how blessed we were by all the people at the conference (Liz and Dave organizing all the spain crew and my pack lunches), at the homes we stayed in, everywhere. So Mel and set of on our two hour coach ride to Gatwick where daddy was meeting us. Well the two hours flew by, you can imagine, we didn't stop talking! Mel planned to sleep, I planned to read, but we had ... read more

QUEEN OF ALL PARKS Come with me, I will take you to a magical place called Windsor park. It is a stone throw away from London and yet not many tourist know its existence. It a day trip and a time well spent while visiting London. It is the official Royal park for the Windsors and in fact Queen lives in the Windsor castle for which this great park serves. Every park in the world have their unique charm and beauty. But none of them can boast the vastness, serenity, beauty and the majesty of the Windsor. We visited Winkworth Arboretum near Godalming in Surrey last autumn. We found lovely pictures of spring displays in the Boat House – these photos encouraged us to come back to this arboretum in spring time. The weather forecast of 20th May was sunshine/showers – a typical English weather. We had lunch on the train. Upon arrival at Winkworth Arboretum, we saw trees with green leaves – it was very different from the last time. Mark carried a map and navigated the route. First, we decided to walk down to the lake. As we walked down, colourful rhododendrons and azaleas and lush foliage came into our sight. We also noted myriads of wildflowers on foot. We popped in the boathouse and walked along the lake. We followed the footpath on the Rowe’s Flashe Meadow. There were myriads ... read more
