We've just spent the day in Slaidburn, Lancashire today as Stan had heard there was a steam rally on. By the time we got there the village green was busy with loads of picnickers, eating their lunch and listening to the fair ground type organ playing away with old thyme music hall songs. We felt we'd taken a step back 80 years or maybe more. The steam fair itself was a nice event several old traction engines and other kinds of machinery and many old cars and bikes plus a sheep sheering demonstration. A poor pig was roasting away on a spit. Again all around us we could hear the fair ground organs music, we were even blessed with a bit of good old fashioned hot sunny weather. Je vous dis bonjour pour la dernière fois de Blackpool... Cette magnifique aventure qu'a été cette année est sur le point de prendre fin. Cette semaine, j'ai dit adieu à mon bureau, à presque tous mes élèves (il y en a que je vois encore) et à tout le fantastique personnel d'Arnold. Cette semaine, comme tous mes élèves en 6th form avaient terminé (ou ne se donnaient plus la peine de venir à leurs leçons de français - qui pourrait les blâmer?), j'ai hérité de la tâche formidable qu'était de faire passer et noter les examens oraux des Year 7. Ils ont 11-12 ans et étaient terrifiés par matante Claudine. Bonjour Québec! Cette semaine, aucune découverte de territoires inconnus. Je suis sagement restée à Blackpool pour me ressourcer (hehe as if...) et relaxer avant mes 2 semaines finales. Mais ce n'est pas parce qu'on reste à Blackpool qu'on s'ennuie pour autant (oh non...:P). Alors, voici ma description de ce dernier weekend avec tous les habitants de Westover avant la fin (ouais, les 2 prochains, il y a toujours 1 ou 2 personnes qui vont être ailleurs). Vendredi, pour découvrir la fantastique culture de chacun, nous avons fait un souper que nous avons appelé Westover's Multicultural Meal 2009. C'était une idée de notre Espagnole qui nous a cuisiné une salsa et une tortilla de patata. So y'all, I am really truly sorry to have been so bad with the blog for the last month or more. I can't really catch up on the whole time in this one sitting, at least the 3 or 4 weeks before Spring Break or Easter Holiday they call it. Jori, one of my travel buddies for the holiday break, is writing about our adventures.
