Landing in London at 10am after flying from New York to Washington to catch our connecting flight, just to fly over New York, an English immigration officer that gave us the third degree worse than the Yanks, we were tired but ready to start experiencing London! First stop the laundromat for our first wash of the trip! nice eh ;) The theatre is a favourite for me here and after going to Broadway, I was able to drag Chris to two West End shows, my two favourites, Wicked and We Will Rock You... He liked Wicked, he LOVED We Will Rock You.. I love being able to say I told you so heheh A must do for me on this trip was a return to Oxford and a visit out to Cambridge, both days started early, ... read more

Hi there Well its our last day in London and our last blog from the other side of the world. We are off to Los Angeles tomorrow. We have had a great time here. The Stomp show was A-MA-ZING, FUNNY, INTENSE, LOUD, very well done, they made music out of all sorts. Newspaper, lighters, brooms, rubbish bin lids, plastic shopping bags, paint tins, rubber pipes, etc, etc, etc. We all really enjoyed it, have not laughed so much and would recommend you going to see it if you get the chance. The LONDON EYE well what a view, both Hannah and Robert enjoyed walking all around the pod while Marion sat very still on the sit in the middle. We had blue skies for our ride and could see for miles and miles. The TOWER OF ... read more

Hello from London Don't tell Robert but I must admit that our flight from Rome to London on the British Airway plane was very comfortable, had heaps of leg room and the seats are wider (suits my B O T tom). Our pickup driver turned up missing, he went to the wrong terminal oooppps, but never mind we eventually met up with him. His boot was not large enough for all our luggage tho. LOL. We have had a great couple of days here in London. Madame Tussauds - most of the figures were very realistic - got sucked into believing one was a real tourist taking a photo LOL - well worth the money. Harrods - well wot can I say Hannah and Robert were in their element - if you couldn't buy something for ... read more

Well, this week started out with a lot of snow! I was pretty excited the first day, Monday but at the same time, had to cancel all of my plans because of the snowfall. The kids had no school and people here don't own shovels which is strange (resulting in ice after the fact). So, Monday was shot as there was no public transport, etc. Rhiannon and I managed quite a good day making snow people that were supposed to look like us! We also made a lemon drizzle cake which turned out great. Tuesday - no school again. I cancelled my volunteer stuff and in the afternoon, Alex was home with us so we made a carrot cake and hung out together. I later went to visit Hannah, Chris and Mark. Mark and I were ... read more

We seem to be enjoying taking our time in the mornings, you get to the stage where you don't want to be rushing everywhere! Left our Earls Court Road apartment after 10, hit the nearest Tube Station and ye again Dean navigated us safely to Tower Hill tube station. It's nice to be on clean trains after the Paris and Italy ones! We had pre bought tickets for Tower of London so went there first, stopping for some lunch then exploring the castle and grounds. It has an amazing history, dating back to 1070 when William the Conqueror built his mighty fortress, and it now houses the Crown Jewels, extensive armory, seven ravens (of course!) and many intriguing stories. The architecture is stunning, as are all the collections - to see the Crown Jewels was pretty ... read more

Jumped on our Easyjet flight from Roissy-CGD to London, Luton Airport. Ahhh Easyjet.....remind us to tell you the story about boarding when we get back. The Airline itself is great but as for the no frills staff at the airports that they employ....well that's another thing. Grand Final fever is building over here !! Well in our little 6 x 4 that is. Glad to hear that many got seats. Anyway we arrived ok into the UK & as planned were met by our driver. Makes travelling with kids soooo much easier, costs a little more but removes a lot of the stress & hassle. I was surprised by just how far out Luton was. I expected 30-40 min but it took around 60 min but hey it was 5.30pm driving into London. We got to ... read more

We'd booked a hotel in Earl's Court. Getting off the tube I expected to hear the jabber of Australians and New Zealanders in the perpetual throng around Earls Court station. How wrong those preconceptions are. The grand names given to London suburbs contrasts sharply with the ordinary streets filled with ordinary people. There didn't seem to be any Earls promenading round a court. There was one-way street clogged with Mini Cabs and Buses though. Our hotel was round the corner from the tube on a leafy, well to do street. London was the place I always wanted to go to but never made it. My childhood reverence for all things British was diminishing now that I was here. The decline of the British Empire in my head had started around 2pm on the 1st of August ... read more

I realize it's been quite some time since I was actually in London. Almost three weeks actually. Somehow though, many of you seemed to have liked reading this, so I thought for all of you, my adoring readers/fans, and really for myself as well, I would write about the last four days of my trip. I have put it off for a reason I guess, you know "living in the now" and such--but I feel like I can write about it now and not feel depressed about it. Well I'll feel a little bit depressed. On the other hand, 20 years from now, when I'm menopausal, coloring my hair not for fun but to cover up the grey, and am known as the crazy bunny lady from down the street who does performance art that involves ... read more

Our round trip flight from Frankfurt to Crete on Condor (a German airline), was quite a steal. It only cost us 170 Euros. Considering how far we went that is quite the deal, if you flew that far within North America I'm sure you'd be likely to pay almost twice that much. While on the flight home, I took a picture of Jessi and Jono making the general sad face. The pouty "look how cute we are and isn't it just awful that we have to leave this beautiful paradise", kind of look. I then did what I always did for the past 2.5 months--i put my camera back in a pouch in my purse. Like normal, I did what any good passenger does, and I looked in the little basket on the seat in front ... read more

So we left the museum. We saw pretty awesome things like the Rosetta Stone, Lamassu's, an Easter Island statue, Cycladic plank idols, a Caryatid from the Erychtheon, many statues, sculptures, figures, and such. It was pretty exciting. Then we were off to Harrod's the amazing ridiculous department store that sells everything. seriously. parker bought an apple. sam and eleni bought chocolate. adi found saddles. they had an arcade, but it was just full of teddy bears. weird. two employees asked Parker about his kimono. one african guy said that it reminded him of african dress. one japanese woman asked where Parker lived in japan. security guards kept telling us to hold our backpacks in our hands. Parker finally asked why, and they said that it helps with pick-pocketers, and prevents accidental knocking over of things. by ... read more
