Bonjour! I was in the french speaking part of Switzerland visiting my aupair friend Samantha. She actually lives in St. Maurice, a smaller village. I managed to get to the train station in her hometown by myself with the timetables she sent me and a friend from the airplane. The people in Switzerland are all very helpful, not just some - like everyone in some way. A lot of people in Switzerland aren't actually Swiss, many come to study there, work or marry...Anyways, another guy on the train let me use his phone to text Sam about what time to meet me at the station, again very nice. I don't know too many places where people are so helpful, hopefully Canada would be one of those places though because I am very proud of where I ... read more

Well, after travelling from Portugal to Spain through 2 buses, we arrived to Vallolidid and figured out that it was cheaper and faster to take the train back to Santander, whoo hoo. We avoided another 2 bus rides and ended up getting a wonderful deal on our return journey at only E9. Our journey previously cost E30 and Begona had told me to expect E20 for the way home...so although our train journey was a little longer than the previous one, it was a good end of the trip. Almost – we caught another train that brought us from the city of Santander to the area where B lives, we walked for a while from there. It was funny for me because B was the one complaining about walking this time. She was always pushing me ... read more

Hey everyone!! Trying to do this as a Reader's Digest update of my time in Portugal, there is so much to share but I want to keep in short as there are more stories and pics to come now that I have internet. I have uploaded some new videos on youtube.com - search wonstable to view. If you are interested in architecture or stones-bricklaying-masonary, you should definately visit Portugal, most specifically Lisboa-Lisbon. It is incredible! I am not even into that but it was impressive and in your face everywhere. I saw so many different streets with unique stone work. Fado music is quite famous in Lisbon as well. I went to check out the museum but it was closed early so instead I walked through these crazy narrow lanes with steep steps further discovering the ... read more

Hey Everyone! Portugal is HOT! I am enjoying fantastic amounts of heat in an air conditioned bus for travel, excellent! The trip here was quite a long one, we were up at 5am and arrived at 10pm. Begona and I are making this trip together and learning lots about personality traits and differences. Smiles. So, the food is excellent here in Portugal. We are staying at a 3*** hotel and great food, all meals served there or a picnic lunch. Sunday was a full day of travelling, yesterday we dia alot starting at 830am and ending at 830 pm. Wow. Quite a bit of walking and seeing the sites of Cascais, Sintra, Estoril and a couple places I am unsure of the names...I have it in my diary that is at the hotel. Cascais was a ... read more

Hey everyone! Well, my time in Spain has been very rainy. It has been quite cold and not suiting my taste for weather whatsoever! Besides that, things seem to be going well - visited a market, a bunch of shops, loads of beaches and two other towns in the province of Cantabria, Santillana del Mar and Comillas. I apologize, despite trying to get pictures uploaded to my blog, there was no success so I will post pictures at a later date... It is now Friday, it rained a lot this morning and I slept rather late but managed to see the bread man do the delivery. There is a guy that delivers fresh bread to the houses where Begona's parents live every day - pretty cool I think. We are in town for the day so ... read more

Well, it was a fun start to a Sunday morning in London. Rhiannon and Lynne came with me to Petticoat Lane Market which is officially my favorite market in the world. I have posted a video on youtube where you can see a bit of the market and a lively salesman! my youtube name is WONSTABLE, if you search that with petticoat lane, you should see my video there and of course, you can seee the videos previously posted too. I have done pretty good for my souvenir shopping, still searching for my perfect teapot though. Maybe you can help me vote on the teapot to purchase, see the pictures and let me know okay? I head back home on June 28, 2011 so responses would be required before that time if part of the vote ... read more

Hey everybody! Well, I just wanted to update a bit, unfortunately cannot post pictures on this entry but I will try on another computer at some point! So, we left London early on Saturday morning, Aug.8. We arrived in France via the Eurotunnel quite quickly, spent most of our first day travelling. We made a brief stopover on Saturday in Iepres, Belgium to see the Menen/Menin Gate. It is a war memorial site for the soldiers who were lost/unable to be identified for WW1. It was very interesting and I even found a Lenz from Canada. Originally my family name was Lenz but after several years in Canada, became Lentz. So, I am not sure if it was a family member or not but I found it interesting anyhow! We have stayed in Bed and Breakfast ... read more

Hey everybody! Well, yesterday I went to Manchester really early in the AM. I met Greg, my old roommate from Vernon. I used to rent a room at his house and he's recently moved to Manchester for a period of time to work. One of his other friends from Vernon came along as well, he'd just arrived off a flight at 7am! So, it was a bit of a tiring day but we had fun...it didn't rain all day long but Manchester is known to be quite rainy. At the train station there was a constant "reminder" to watch your step as the weather conditions aren't good/slippery, use an umbrella, etc. Lol, funny for a litle while and then it was annoying. So, we walked around the town taking in a bunch of the sites - ... read more

Hey everybody! Well, SUnday - July 25, I got up really early and headed by tube to London Victoria coach station. I didn't know that the Victoria line doesn't run Sundays so it was a bit of a time scare but I managed to get there right where I needed to be exactly when the tour was scheduled to depart! Close calls these days! Anyhow, we started a driving journey of about 2 hours to Blenheim Palace where SIr Winston Churchill was born. The 11th Duke of Marlborough now lives there in a section of the Palace. I got a tour around the bottom part of the palace that had a history museum and showed some of the classical state rooms, outfits, etc. I couldn't take any pictures in there but it was neat. I discovered ... read more

Well, couldn't find the name in the list of places so anyways, my aupair friend (Hungarian) Gabi came with me to Little Hampton. WE got a train from London Victoria that took nearly 2 hours and we arrived in this cute and friendly village. It was really refreshing coming from the big city. So, we started our day out by looking for sand toys as Gabi wanted to build sandcastles. We shopped around for a bit and ended up finding a museum of the town. It was very interesting, huge history of ships, boats, that type of trading. There was an army unit called the 30AU, (Assault Unit) which was mostly made up of intelligence training and followup. We got to met Reg Rush, one of the original members as they were having their annual reunion ... read more
